Coronavirus - the more extremem measures in particular

Of course this is pure speculation and should not be taken seriously at all. What is your gut telling you?

I think by mid June

Egghead68 · 24/03/2020 16:26

On and off for 12-18 months

Totalfangoolie · 24/03/2020 16:29

I agree. I think people are hoping to never go back to work and think the government are going to keep paying for their wages

Do you actually know anyone who feels this way?

Sadly yes.

Dunno how long keg workers can carry on for but it's a week since a service user in my home first showed symptoms and my staff are on their knees already...so many off sick/self isolating... its awful

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 16:39

Key. Not keg. They'd like a keg at this point!!

TBH listening to the questions on the BBC news broadcast I despair of the thinking skills of our society.

“Is it ok to go fishing? Can I go to the shops for beer and wine?” Seriously, I’m starting to think that there’s something to be said for these regimes where governments control the movements and habits of their citizens, because clearly most people seem incapable of thinking for themselves.

MarginalGain · 24/03/2020 16:46

What happens when key workers start demanding (quite rightly) more money, and the people who are paid to stay at home aren't, i.e. they are penalised - contravening the government's ill-advised promise that they wouldn't be?

MurrayTheMonk · 25/03/2020 06:05

I'm already paying my care staff a bit more. Had to to get them to come in. Persuaded my company top brass to up it, so now they are getting paid £9.10 ph instead of £8.47... not sure many people would be that annoyed by that Grin but I take your point...

Trump says it will all be over by Easter Hmm

I did hear from my friend who works in the NHS that it will probably peak at Easter. Hopefully everyone will comply with the restrictions in place so it doesn't go on longer than necessary.

pinkmagic1 · 25/03/2020 06:55

I am guessing 4 weeks for the lockdown if people take it seriously but the impact will be felt for years.

okiedokieme · 25/03/2020 07:02

Extreme lockdown, not long, some restrictions a few months

Eyewhisker · 25/03/2020 07:13

It will end by May otherwise the reduction in life expectancy from inactivity will exceed the possible death toll from the virus. Confining previously healthy 70 year olds to the home will lead to a deterioration in their health. If it lasts longer than 6 weeks, it’s easy to see how that would result in greater eventual loss of life than the virus.

I’ve planned for 12 months will be happy with any less.
