My teenager (on Three) did. I haven’t yet (EE) and neither has DH (corporate Vodaphone contract).

SuckingDieselFella · 24/03/2020 11:26

@resipsa

It definitely ISN'T a scam.

There may be scams going around but this isn't it.

It's frightening that there is so much misinformation. Some people clearly don't bother watching the news and this text is the only way to get to them. If there's a rumour that it's a scam then people will ignore it and not stay at home.

PleaseStopCrying · 24/03/2020 11:27

That's your instruction to self-isolate. It means you're part of the vulnerable group

Like I said in my message I thought that might be the case, I was self isolating anyway. However my husbands had the exact same message he is not vulnerable or in any of the categories mentioned??

Originalyellowbelly · 24/03/2020 11:27

My DH got it but I didn't, we are both with the same network.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 24/03/2020 11:27

I lie. It has literally, this second just landed.

Fluffymule · 24/03/2020 11:27

Yes, also on EE, shortly before 9am this morning.

resipsa · 24/03/2020 11:27

It looks legitimate so not sure why anyone says different! I haven't had it.

SuckingDieselFella · 24/03/2020 11:28

@Thelittleweasel

Which paper said the govt can't send text to everybody?

Please provide a link to this story.

QuimJongUn · 24/03/2020 11:28

Seems like GiffGaff hasn't sent them to anyone yet (we're all on GG too).

PeterPanGoesWrong · 24/03/2020 11:29

No

tmh88 · 24/03/2020 11:29

Yes I received it. DP hasn’t yet though.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 24/03/2020 11:29

I did, DH hasn’t yet

dementedpixie · 24/03/2020 11:29

It's not the government itself sending it. The mobile networks are sending it to everyone on their behalf.

SuckingDieselFella · 24/03/2020 11:30

@PleaseStopCrying
Your husband has been told to self isolate? He will have to follow that up and check he isn't in a vulnerable group. The text people are talking about here is a general one sent out to everybody telling people to stay at home.

Whalette · 24/03/2020 11:31

It does not mean you are vulnerable - everyone will get one throughout the course of the day.

SuckingDieselFella · 24/03/2020 11:32

@Whalette There are two different texts.

MadisonAvenue · 24/03/2020 11:35

My 19 year old son got it around 8am and he’s the only one of us to have received it, I just assumed that it was targeted at his age group.

PleaseStopCrying · 24/03/2020 11:36

Yep hes had the same message as me but he is 100% not in any category asked to isolate. Neither of us have had the messge in the OP hence why I wondered if there was more than one vatiety. He's beyond confused and cannot get through to our surgery. He's a key worker so doesnt want to stay home for 12 weeks due to a message sent in error.

Wingedharpy · 24/03/2020 11:37

People, if you go to the gov.uk website, you can click a link to have any Coronovirus updates sent to your email address directly as they are released.
Then you will know what is happening and the most up to date directives.
Better than relying too much on someone else's interpretation of the situation.

SuckingDieselFella · 24/03/2020 11:38

@PleaseStopCrying

I don't think mumsnet can help you with this. Maybe he has been told to self isolate because he lives with you but it isn't a question that anyone on a chatboard can answer.

Straycatstrut · 24/03/2020 11:39

No but I don't need it. I just got my parcels delivered to me by a delivery guy wearing a mask and gloves, and he left them on the doorstep. It makes sense but it's so surreal to see

Murinae · 24/03/2020 11:40

I did but am also registered on the gov sites for my pension predictions

mumsmas1 · 24/03/2020 11:40

nope

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/03/2020 11:40

Just had it! EE.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 24/03/2020 11:41

No. I’m with O2.
