That’s so lovely Millie. I’m sure it’s actually a great comfort to the ovals and gives them all something entertaining to watch.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 31/03/2020 13:31

One good thing that has cheered me up no end, is the fact that all those kitchen gadgets that have lingered at the back of the cupboard last are being used again. My youngest thoroughly enjoyed her Nutella toastier this morning, made on an extremely old toastie machine. Grin

Glad to hear you’re feeling a little less wobbly now spudlet - I’ve had so many ‘I’m coming down with something!’ moments in the last few weeks and all have them have amounted to nothing so fingers crossed it’s the same for your DH. I also do the psychosomatic symptoms thing to an absurd degree - years ago I even convinced my flatmate we both had carbon monoxide poisoning and we ended up getting a nightbus to a hospital on the other side of London, by which time all my ‘symptoms’ had miraculously disappeared and I was remembering I’d read something about CO that morning which must have triggered it...

DP keeps trying to share twitter clips with me and I keep shouting at him ‘I can’t hear someone describe it; I’ll start feeling everything they say!’

Arcadia · 31/03/2020 14:35

Love the Telegraph positive news. Making me tearful today!

Arcadia · 31/03/2020 14:39

Aw @T0tallyFuckedUpFamily I've been craving toasties! Might ask on neighbours WhatsApp group to see if I can borrow one

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 31/03/2020 14:49

Good luck Arcadia, it’s surprising what people have stashed away. I also found a popcorn maker that I’d bought in a sale and a bag of corn. Going to try that tonight with some grated chocolate over it, later. I’m feeling extremely lucky today.

Millie2013 · 31/03/2020 14:52

Oooh, I’m craving a bean toastie right now!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 31/03/2020 14:57

Oh baked bean toasties. I miss my old toastie maker. It used to seal the edges and you’d end up scalding your mouth with molten lava beans!

Noooblerooble · 31/03/2020 15:15

I’ll try and snatch a bit of quiet this morning to meditate and use the curable app again which I’m hopeful will help my horrible fibromyalgia go away. Learning how emotional issues cause the brain to fire off pain signals in the body has been an eye opener.

So so glad it's helping you. It's a gem of a programme. I will pm you in a few days to tell you more about my experience with it, I just have some work to do first. I love their podcasts too.

I am having a good day although I am tired and grumpy. I feel I've adjusted to our new normal so I'm less frightened. I'm sure it'll still be up and down though. I am really barely looking at the news.

One positive to come out of all this is an improved relationship with my dad. He has been a v difficult father and we've had a rocky relationship. He upset me yesterday and I told him so and he was apologetic and said could we please talk more so he is more aware of what is going on in my life. He apologised for being a terrible father too. I am sure the virus has made him genuinely want to try harder. It makes you reassess all sorts doesn't it? I never thought we'd have a better relationship. He was a selfish, angry man when I was growing up but equally he loves me and wants the best for me deep down.

Noooblerooble · 31/03/2020 15:16

I am craving proper coffee. I think I need to buy a proper milk frother when this is all over so I can make lattes. I love them. I barely even have any coffee in atm! I figure I will appreciate it more if I wait until this mad time is over

Benji13 · 31/03/2020 15:54

Handhold needed. My dh is locked downstairs in the lounge with symptoms since Friday - he’s felt rotten yesterday and today. I’m holding the house together and cleaning everywhere as well as working from home. I feel a real tickle in my throat this afternoon - trying not to panic but wondering how on earth the two adult ds’s will run the joint and see to the dog and cats if I get it. I just need to chill don’t i and take things as they come!
Trying hard. I haven’t engaged with the news since Friday.

Millie2013 · 31/03/2020 16:03

Hugs Benji, it’s so hard not to jump to the worst case scenario Flowers
I hope your scratchy throat turns out to be just a scratchy throat, I think I might have a touch of hay fever as I’ve had an on off irritated nose/throat that goes away with antihistamines. Any other time, I bet I’d be going about my business and not even noticing it, but we are bound to be hypersensitive to any potential symptoms at the mo

Callybrid · 31/03/2020 16:27

Benji - handhold here. Few deep breaths, maybe a quick break from work and cleaning to just have a cup of tea outside or something? Everything crossed for you that your DP wakes up feeling over the worst tomorrow and your scratchy throat stays just that (I had a scratchy throat all the way round the supermarket this morning and it’s gone now; think it was just being aware that coughing would make everyone look at me appalled, so even though I didn’t need to cough I suddenly got very aware of my throat and needed to clear it).

Bunnyflop · 31/03/2020 16:32

Handholding Benji. Try not to worry, remember it’s a very slim chance of anyone getting it.

@Noooblerooble thank you id love you hear how it worked for you!!

Interesting what you say about your relationship with your dad- I unblocked my mum as I knew she would WhatsApp me and she did, an emotional message to say she hopes we are all alright. I just sent one back saying thanks and hope she is too. And then I blocked her again because on top of all of this stress I just can’t be coping with our relationship right now. But I wanted her to have a reply from me at least. I long for her but I also know I’ve had to fight like hell to get mentally healthy because of her so I have to be guarded.

All this talk of toasted sandwiches is making me both nostalgic and hungry. I used to have a cheese one round my teenage friend’s house every day during the summer holidays. Aah good times!

gingerbreadslice · 31/03/2020 16:59

I made a Nutella toastie a few weeks ago it was amazing I felt really greedy afterwards though. Current favourite combinations are chicken slices and onion and cheese, ham and cheese, ham cheese and onion. And beans and cheese Grin

Bunnyflop · 31/03/2020 17:10

Can you put tuna and cheese together in a toastie or does that not work?

Alsohuman · 31/03/2020 17:12

I really want a cheese and tomato toastie now, damn you all! Just been for a massive walk in the sunshine with the dog, it was lovely.

SegregateMumBev · 31/03/2020 17:33

Today I successfully purchased:

2 hand sanitisers
2 rolls of kitchen roll
2 bottles of Smirnoff (DH was down to his last one and was getting twitchy)
AND the bank was open!

tobee · 31/03/2020 17:38

Bunnyflop tuna and cheese toastie totally works!! It becomes a tuna melt then I believe!!

VoyageInTheDark · 31/03/2020 18:33

@Millie2013 I love that goat story!

MinesaPinot · 31/03/2020 18:38

SegregateMumBev I"'ll see you and raise you:

2 tins of tomatoes
Pack of rubber gloves
AND pack of 12 TOILET ROLLS!!!!!

I love our local NISA store Grin

Roussette · 31/03/2020 18:44

Oh I do love a toastie.

Cheese and tomato is my go-to toastie for a hangover, but I usually eat it too quick and burn my mouth

Cheese, chicken, and spread on the inside with green (or red) pesto is delicious too

BetsyJameson · 31/03/2020 18:45

Hi, please can I join in, I’ve been following this thread from the beginning and it has been making me feel a lot better but having a bit of a wobble today. Love the bunny photos 💕

Millie2013 · 31/03/2020 19:20
