There's speculation that he will implement a full lockdown.

How will this differ from what we're doing now?

Any idea if I can watch this announcement anywhere? I don't have a TV licence.

Devlesko · 23/03/2020 20:03

Since when did we have a Military?
We have armed services, the Americans have military.

Anyway, lock us down because too many people can't comprehend "essential". Imo this is the problem, and dicks thinking they're invincible (all ages, and walks of life).

BarefootHippieChick · 23/03/2020 20:03

jogonll you can probably just watch it on BBC news through Google

BackseatCookers · 23/03/2020 20:04

Oh fuck @tangowhiskey I'm getting so angry at some posts on here so I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I am so, so sorry. Thanks

And @vix20678 I am so sorry to you too, it's so unfair and so cruel that an already impossibly hard time for you is being made even harder Thanks

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 20:05

@jogonlll Twitter

TangoWhisky · 23/03/2020 20:06

@BackseatCookers

I dont understand why people have to be so mean to each other on here :(

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2020 20:10

UtterlyButterly8 We're in lockdown in Germany:

Deliveries from Amazon etc of all goods as normal, not just food, anything
Some deliveries are a day or two late though

All pharmacies and food shops are open - and everyone behaving very sensibly afaik
Other shops & non-essential services closed

You can take a walk / cycle on my own if you keep 2m from everyone else

No crowds allowed - you can only talk to 1 person outside, except any family you live with

People are WFH where possible, or going to work - if their business hasn't been shut

So not the strictest lockdown in Germany yet:
that would be everyone except essential services staying home 24/7 except for buying food

I wonder what lockdown Boris will choose

namechangemania · 23/03/2020 20:13

Anyone else really nervous about this? I feel like I’m waiting to go into a job interview

Justaboy · 23/03/2020 20:14

Went to our local tip today, a long queue of cars only Two being allowed on site at any time, some good sense from our local council:)

OldQueen1969 · 23/03/2020 20:19

I'm wondering if the scary ramp up is to make us expect the absolute worst, we then get a robust but somewhat measured set of new rules, and then we will have a sense of relief and gratitude that will make us comply enough in fear of the absolute worst. Just a theory.

Bittersweet12 · 23/03/2020 20:21

@oldqueen good point good point maybe that could be the case

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:27

Greater men have tried to lock me down. Boris ain't going to be the man to do it.

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:29

Oldqueen - the absolute worst? Most of Mn wants a lockdown - for some strange reason.......Hmmm...

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:30

A few pages ago someone was telling us that while she was in Lanzarote a week ago, shops were 1 in 1 out and she's now demanding a bloody lockdown. Lock herself down.

GabsAlot · 23/03/2020 20:30

that wa sthe most serious introduction so far

BuckingFrolics · 23/03/2020 20:31

And he starts with some arse covering. Of course. Twat

Pishposhpashy · 23/03/2020 20:31

So it isnt even live then?

ShellsAndSunrises · 23/03/2020 20:31

Tomorrow the phone operators have been told to send a mass text to every phone in the UK, according to Twitter... interesting approach.

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:32

French reasons.

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:33

Oh police have powers?

VivaLeBeaver · 23/03/2020 20:33

Good. Scary but good.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/03/2020 20:33

I player not working!

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:34

Allowing funerals but not weddings/baptisms

BuckingFrolics · 23/03/2020 20:34

Slips in the three weeks timescale there ...

Ondalay · 23/03/2020 20:34

Police will have powers to disperse crowds.
Playgrounds, places of worship shut down.
