DS won't even wash his hands

DS who is 22 has COVID almost definitely. He has loss of smell, extreme tiredness and a cough. He has been in bed all day, just got up and is making stuff in the kitchen. He is refusing to wash his hands. I'm already annoyed because he went to the gym all last week despite knowing he was coming down with it. I've got a massive week at work and am asthmatic.

Tell him he’s sleeping on the streets if he doesn’t comply. 22 is an adult, he should know better

stormykettles · 22/03/2020 15:50

I can't really say that though can I?

Yes you really can. He’s putting your life at risk and has already risked the lives of others.

fairynick · 22/03/2020 15:52

He’s happy to put his mums health at risk? Wow happy Mother’s Day!
I’d tell him to stop being a fucking minger and wash his hands or he can find somewhere else to stay. It’s basic hygiene how grim.

Effinell · 22/03/2020 15:52

My 19 year old is exactly the same AngrySad

GolfForBrains · 22/03/2020 15:52

I mean, you haven't got a big week at work now, have you? You're in self isolation for 14 days because you live with someone who is suspected to have it, and he is in self-isolation for 7 days, aren't you? Aren't you?

sunshinemachine · 22/03/2020 15:52

thats awful of him

Cheerbear23 · 22/03/2020 15:53

You’re going to have to lose your shit at him and ask him why he’s happy to put you at risk. Very selfish behaviour.

SavageBeauty73 · 22/03/2020 15:53

Ffs! Is this for real? I opened the post thinking it would be about a 5 year old

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 22/03/2020 15:53

Yes you really can and you should. He should be in a different space in the house and using a different bathroom if you have one, I would be screaming at him WASH YOUR HANDS

TeenPlusTwenties · 22/03/2020 15:53

And hopefully your 'massive week at work' is working from home, because if someone in your house has it you need to stay home 14 days no exceptions.

SavageBeauty73 · 22/03/2020 15:53

He could kill you

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 22/03/2020 15:53

The whole family should also self isolate for 14 days

TheTruthAboutLove · 22/03/2020 15:54

I thought the rule was that if you’re living with someone suspected of having it, you need to self isolate for 14 days. So surely you should be now following government advice?!

Justanother123 · 22/03/2020 15:54

Errr you are now in isolation as you live with someone who has it. Don’t f&*k with peoples lives!

stormykettles · 22/03/2020 15:54

He just swore at me and told me to leave him alone, I have no sympathy etc. We had a huge row when he insisted on going to the gym. He swaggered in saying he was 'doing us a favour because herd immunity'.

He has a degree and was supposed to be off traveling now.

I am screaming.

OP posts:
stormykettles · 22/03/2020 15:54

We are self-isolating obviously.

OP posts:
CodenameVillanelle · 22/03/2020 15:55

You're not going to work now are you?

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 22/03/2020 15:56

Have you told him his a selfish little so and so??

I mean your asking him to wash his hands not go to war. Really not washing hands before making food when you’ve been in bed scratching your arse is gross anyway virus or not- dirty sod

I thought this was going to be able a toddler...I was going to say pick him and and wash them anyway, he’ll have to like it

billy1966 · 22/03/2020 15:57

So your son is among the absolute dregs of society OP.

He really is.

Tell him pack his bag and get out of your house.

You most likely have it now too.

You shouldn't be going into work having been exposed.

The sheer stupidity of people is breathtaking.

Thousands and thousands and thousands of people are going to die of CV, and of pure selfish stupidity.

OP, as an asthmatic, you are in serious danger.

Mind yourself....start by throwing out your waster of a son.Flowers

stormykettles · 22/03/2020 15:57

The row about the gym was Friday, before his gym closed. He has had on-off symptoms for a week but it's hard tto tell as he is spending all day in bed anyway since his job stopped

OP posts:
Badskinday · 22/03/2020 15:58

The herd immunity nonsense they were coming out with has been a massive blow to the British attempt to contain this. It’s given very selfish piece of crap a reason to carry on as normal. I would kick him out of your house. Take his house key and tell him to go. Not your problem.

iVampire · 22/03/2020 15:58

‘ I've got a massive week at work and am asthmatic‘

You are cohabiting with someone you believe has CV.

You need to self isolate for 14 days. You really don’t have a massive week of work ahead of you. Unless of course you exclusively work from home,

The middle of a pandemic is probably a bad time to seek accommodation, but it’s time he moved out, isn’t it?

fairynick · 22/03/2020 15:58

Why are you letting a grown man live in your house and act that way? He sounds like a dick. He needs to know his place, you should go crazy at him.

rosiejaune · 22/03/2020 15:59

If you live with him you are virtually certain to be exposed to it, handwashing or not. So it's a bit pointless getting hung up on that.
