Anyone know what time to expect it today? Is Boris doing it today?

I see the BBC have a Coronavirus daily special 4.10-5.40pm today so presuming it will be then?

Do you think we'll have any announcements today? I'm hoping there are more lockdown measures announced. I think it's time to shut non essential shops and enforce social distancing.

It essentially went from please don't be a selfish idiot to pretty please don't be a selfish idiot.

It essentially went from please don't be a selfish idiot to pretty please don't be a selfish idiot.

Next we might get pretty please with a cherry on top..

Then it will be spray cream on top then flipping sprinkles and people still won't listen 😣

TeaAndDarkToast · 22/03/2020 18:51

That's it. I'm more scared of the UK Govt than CV.

I am staying in under the duvet until December.

May I be the first to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Sammymommy · 22/03/2020 18:51

Am I the only one who thinks he is slowly oiling it to announce a lockdown next week? Or even tomorrow?

"If you dont stop and do what I say, we'll have to be tougher"

"Oh no, you naughty citizens, you don't listen, everybody in lockdown".

That is what I hope at least put my head back in the sand

Are you all wanting a paid 12 week sabbatical or what?

Sammymommy · 22/03/2020 18:55

May I add, he just bluff because they are not quite ready yet, or have a target number to reach before going into lockdown, but are trying to avoid people running away from London to the country side or away from the UK to their families. The school shutting down was pretty sudden.

Salud · 22/03/2020 18:56

I'm not believing this faux concern for others. If you're concerned about yourself - lock yourself down.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 18:56

Given thatvhe wont even close playgrounds I'm highly doubful we will be on lockdown any time soon, especially not tomorrow.

Salud · 22/03/2020 18:59

Is it a case that the vast majority of you won't get SSP or the 80% pay unless lockdown is legislated for? I don't believe for one second that it's concern fo the community. I can see through that bullshit a mile away. Be honest about it at least. This pious version of yourselves, where you're thinking about the NHS and all the poor strange randomers who might die is bollocks and you know it is.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2020 19:00

Salud you are being silly and wrong.

Sammymommy · 22/03/2020 19:00

@Salud . I want this to last 3 to 4 months instead of 9 to 12. I also want 10 to 20 thousand deaths instead of 500 thousand to 1 million. It grows exponentially. It's like compound effect. The more you wait, the more you get.

A lockdown will give the government the opportunity to gain some control back then start testing aggressively and contain the spread like South Korea is doing. There is no point testing now, they waited too long, we are in a huge mess.

I also want to listen to the pleas of the doctors and nurses who are going to have to deal with the tsunami of sick people going their way.

23 dead and Wuhan went into lockdown. It's fucking murdurous

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2020 19:03

Of course we are being prepared for lockdown so much has been down and has to be done for it to be work as smoothly as possible

The last thing we need is people not prepared for a lockdown and taking up police time

It it’s in the next couple of days it will be quite sometime ahead of when Italy and Spain started their lockdowns in comparison how many people were confirmed ill, in icu and had died

Why do people think we are not heading this way of course we are we are being told

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:04

It's none of my business what anyone else does. I look after myself and mine first and foremost You're lying to yourselves if you think you're any different. Stop this charade now. You're making a show of yourselves.

Jonb6 · 22/03/2020 19:04

Interestingly I have just arrived here passing through the usa on my way home, and i can assure you that Donald Trump is not doing a good job. Passing through security there were fingerprints being taken, no cleaning the pads, no cleaning of touch screens, little gel available, the staff weren't using gel properly or at all, handling of passports, no distancing, and New York airspace shutdown so flights were rerouted. I predict it will be much worse there because arrogance doesn't protect you from Covid 19.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 19:05

Is it a case that the vast majority of you won't get SSP or the 80% pay unless lockdown is legislated for? I don't believe for one second that it's concern fo the community

Im on maternity leave so give no fucks about the SSP. I want a lock down because I dont want thousands of people to di. I want a lockdown because I'm worried about the impact on those working in the NHS and quite frankly I'm intelligent enough to see its not going to get better unless we take drastic acticion. Hmm It's blinding clear people are not following the rules and unless he takes drastic measures we are looking at a huge huge number of deaths! Why would anyone not want a bloody lockdown.

Sammymommy · 22/03/2020 19:05

I lost the majority of my earnings. I am getting UC (hopefully) whatever happened. I don't really care if the people who are being idiots die to be honest. I care about the people they will contaminate. I care about the doctors and nurses. I care about myself.

I want this to be over sooner than later. For those of us who have already started staying home, it will last forever because of those who can't fucking listen and stop being selfish.

I want to be able to have a non coronavirus health problem and get an ambulance/care instead of dying of something. that could be easily cured/fixed.

Have you not seen the other countries? That virus is no joke. I thought it was not that bad at the beginning. But it is. I was wrong. And so are the people not taking it seriously.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2020 19:05

China is a completely different society far more control over their citizens

It would have been far easier to enforce and put into action

No other country has enforced lockdowns in the same way

Jonb6 · 22/03/2020 19:08

@Salud I think there's a lot of projection in what you say.

PleaseStopCrying · 22/03/2020 19:08

I look after myself and mine first and foremost You're lying to yourselves if you think you're any different

Well thank goodness we are not all as selfish as you, imagine if our front line workers had that attitude. This I'm alright Jack attitude is why we need a lockdown. People are too bloody self centred.

Flaxmeadow · 22/03/2020 19:09

We need a coup and we need it now.

Because that's really going to help the situation right now isn't It? Hmm

Get a grip of yourself

Salud · 22/03/2020 19:10

Anyone stupid enough to not heed the advice has only themselves to blame. The only ones I have sympathy for are the NHS and other key workers - in that order. I couldn't give a shit about Billy Bob and Milly Mae down the road with their 25 grandchildren, 6 children and partners at a house party. If that's what they want to do - let them off. Let them at it. If you wilfully put yourself in harms way - you pay the consequences - zero sympathy if the whole family was wiped out. It's just the way I roll. I do have sympathy for Dr. Bob, Nurse Joan and their colleagues who have to deal with them - but my understanding is they're not really admitting people to hospital anyway. So all good in the hood.
