Particularly island nations that have managed to keep it out? I hope so but don't think there are any, not with significant populations anyway.

@MMN123

Is that the list of countries that don't have it? Where do you get your info from?

@kendodd
Not from anywhere interesting - I just wrote a list and started crossing them off as it spread and kept going. I didn’t include dependent territories, just countries. Now it’s mostly islands and countries where testing might not be happening.

MMN123 · 24/03/2020 13:47

Lesotho most likely has cases but has no testing capabilities. Possibly the same with Yemen.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/03/2020 14:06

It's a fair point about those on the Sentinel Islands not getting it, but guess we'd never know even if they did ... from all I've read they're not exactly keen to engage with the rest of the world's record keeping

MMN123 · 24/03/2020 14:31

The first person to die in Zimbabwe was a TV journalist aged 30 (with serious underlying health condition). He's believed to have caught it in New York.

edition.cnn.com/2020/03/23/africa/zimbabwe-broadcaster-dies-coronavirus/index.html

I seem to remember one of the other early African cases (Kenya? Tanzania) was also suspected to have just arrived from the USA. So much for Trump's portrayal of African countries as "shit-holes" from whose citizens America needed protection...Angry

KenDodd · 25/03/2020 10:38

Mail has cases now and Libya.

I'm going on www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I don't trust the numbers in a lot of countries because I assume it's based on actual, confirmed by a lab test, cases. I really hope some small islands still showing to be free of the virus actually are. If they have very little international traffic they might be. I'm less optimistic about African nations, and think they probably all have cases but don't have testing.

It is highly unlikely there are no cases in the Comoros, since there are cases in Mayotte.
They just can't test, I'd imagine.

user127819 · 26/03/2020 19:16

St Kitts and Nevis now has 2 cases, which means North America joins Europe and South America as continents where every country has cases.

Sierra Leone now has a case.

Good news though, St Vincent and the Grenadines had a case, they recovered, and now the country is CV free again (I hope!)

Sad news. St Vincent is back on the list with two cases.
I think we might pass one million cases today and Spain might overtake Italy for number of cases.

Over a million cases now, when do you think this'll peak?

The Falklands now has a confirmed case.

KenDodd · 05/04/2020 11:38

And South Sudan.

I think the virus is still not spreading within the population in most countries with very low numbers. It's just coming from new arrivals into the country so hopefully (?) they might still be able to contain it.

OP posts:
MMN123 · 05/04/2020 17:55

Sadly by the time the first case is detected, it’s most like spread. Don’t think anywhere can contain it. The small countries might be able to avoid it but they need imports so sooner or later it’s likely most will be impacted.

A virus particle tried to drift across the border from South to North Korea, but Kim Jong Un saw it, personally shot it down with a surface to air missile, climbed back on his unicorn and proceeded on his way to his daily round of golf, where he scored 19 holes in one. What a guy.

MMN123 · 06/04/2020 15:23

São Tomé isn’t defended by Kim Jong Un and his magical powers, so they have sadly succumbed - first 4 cases today
