Particularly island nations that have managed to keep it out? I hope so but don't think there are any, not with significant populations anyway.

@passinglin
Madagascar has three now

Bearbehind · 21/03/2020 20:23

MMN between your list and the Worldometers list we appear to have about 30 new countries!

Fuck knows what’s right!

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 20:24

Where is Worldometers list of countries?

Passinglin · 21/03/2020 20:24

Oh no! I only spoke to my mum yesterday so it’s happened in a day!

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 20:25

Yes, yesterday I’m afraid @Passinglin

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 20:26

Maybe some list only have countries above a certain population or something?

Bearbehind · 21/03/2020 20:31

Where is Worldometers list of countries?

On the Worldometers website funnily enough! 😂

Linked to on page 1

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 20:31

@bearbehind
I think I found their list www.worldometers.info/world-population/population-by-country/

But that seems more inclusive than mine as they include ‘territories’ eg Wallis & Futuna (new one on me) which apparently is a french territory

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 20:32

Lol - hadn’t seen their website!

MsF1t · 21/03/2020 20:53

Flamingo&John: funnily enough, I can report on St Helena. A close relative has just got off the island today, flying to Jo'berg. They have been there for the last week. The Governor was on the same flight in, travelling with someone who then began to show symptoms. As a result everyone from that flight was put into quarantine, then after three days just those who had been sitting closest. No idea if it was even tested for, waiting to hear more as details quite thin on the ground.

KenDodd · 21/03/2020 21:21

Worldometers says Uganda has one case now. I wonder where they get their data from?

We're an island nation. We could have stopped this if we'd closed our borders.

Only if you're prepared to quarantine huge numbers of your own returning citizens - at either their expense, or the states.

Funnily enough, we do neither.

RLOU30 · 21/03/2020 21:26

The Gambia ?

RLOU30 · 21/03/2020 21:27

Oh I see that’s not correct anymore!

Blondewolf · 21/03/2020 21:40

Some Greek islands don't have it. Quite a lot. So today they've stopped all travel to the islands. 🙏👌

Bit sad as love them and was due to dorms a few weeks' there. Now will feel glad if just make it through this 🥺

Custardcreamies101 · 21/03/2020 21:45

Mauritius has gone up to 7 cases. Someone from uk flew there and infected their family.

AuldAlliance · 21/03/2020 21:55

In Réunion, they have been allowing thousands of people off planes and asking them to sign a document saying they promise to self-isolate for 14 days.
No follow-up, no checks, nothing.
The healthcare system is likely to be overwhelmed v fast and the number of Type 2 diabetics probably won't help.

Tr1skel1on · 21/03/2020 23:39

KenDodd, oh no I really don't want to see that. However I am not that surprised they announced the first case just after closing all borders.

New cases in Belize and Myanmar now.

KenDodd · 24/03/2020 10:17

Not sure if there's anywhere left without any cases. The Falklands still have no confirmed cases although the chief medical officer says they probably do have cases there.

Yeafortwo · 24/03/2020 10:26

Sorry I don't believe anywhere isn't infected now, they just won't have testing facilities or will not be open with figures, obviously the odd tiny island may be free of it but no-where else 😥
