Particularly island nations that have managed to keep it out? I hope so but don't think there are any, not with significant populations anyway.

Looking into the future, I think Ireland (The Republic of) will come out of it quite quickly. They applied quarantine with a relatively low number of cases and deaths.
Shame the pub culture is so strong. People were still partying hard last Saturday.
Time will tell...

FlamingoAndJohn · 21/03/2020 07:37

Well I’d never heard of The Holy See before this thread.

HowIrresponsible · 21/03/2020 08:08

@FlamingoAndJohn you've never heard of Vatican City?!

Aka the holy see?

FlamingoAndJohn · 21/03/2020 08:50

Of course I’ve heard of Vatican City, How.

I’d never heard of The Holy See.

Parkandride · 21/03/2020 08:56

I also had to google that @flamingoAndJohn

Ireland won’t come out well. Nowhere will. Same trajectory. It’s the cases per million of population that are interesting to watch. Africa is interesting. Could be less travel. But it’ll still spread - unless there is some predisposition to it that is based on genetics. Some blood groups are more at risk than others. Time will tell.

Cornettoninja · 21/03/2020 09:17

Iceland is interesting because they have such a low population (c400k) I’ve been reading a couple of articles about how this makes it easier for them to track the spread and gather data on symptoms to try and understand the differences in people who show very few symptoms.

Wish I lived there now!

KenDodd · 21/03/2020 10:01

Russia's reported cases are low for the population size, and they do have plenty of international travel in and out.

I've heard pneumonia deaths have rocketed there though.

OP posts:
KenDodd · 21/03/2020 10:26

The question is totally irrelevant and just an attempt to say that nowhere is safe. Dont feed the troll.

How is this even a little bit of a troll question?

I was wondering yesterday if the Isles of Scilly are affected at all yet? The Scillonian doesn’t run this time of year, so less day-trippers, but obviously you can still fly over.

It would be devastating for them if anything does happen, as they have no hospitals on the isles.

Bearbehind · 21/03/2020 10:32

Timor Leste (where ever that is) now has it so only 9 countries left with out it

Bearbehind · 21/03/2020 10:35

Has anyone worked out which they are, I think we’d got:-

Uganda
Mali

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 19:32

That’s the list of countries without a case. Though maybe changed since then!

user127819 · 21/03/2020 19:41

Most of the Pacific island nations are clear so far: Tuvalu, Palau, Marshal Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga.

A few countries in central America and some in Africa are still clear.

user127819 · 21/03/2020 19:42

@MMN123 Eritrea has a case now.

Derbygerbil · 21/03/2020 19:44

I expect many, if not all, of those countries have cases, they’ve just not had any positive tests. I can’t imagine countries like Yemen or Somalia are prioritising this.

Bearbehind · 21/03/2020 19:44

MMN that list is well out of date

There are now only 8 countries in the world it hasn’t spread to, Eritrea being the latest.

We’ve worked out 2 of these are Mali and Uganda plus there are 6 others.

Tr1skel1on · 21/03/2020 19:48

Uganda definitely don't have any cases. They have just shut all their borders to try and keep it that way. My sister is currently living there, on her own on a work contract. She can't leave. I'm trying to stay calm :(

MMN123 · 21/03/2020 19:59

@bearbehind

Eritrea got it’s first case today - hardly ‘we’ll out of date’ LOL!!
