Particularly island nations that have managed to keep it out? I hope so but don't think there are any, not with significant populations anyway.

@PerditaMacleod I think Angola has Ebola though?

Bearbehind · 20/03/2020 21:45

Tasmania isn’t a country either

KenDodd · 20/03/2020 21:47

I know it's not.

I have a friend in Corfu and I don’t think they have it there.

AuldAlliance · 20/03/2020 21:48

There is no way they can collect accurate data in Madagascar anyway.

Cases and deaths will be far higher than shown on any charts.
The toll in Antananarivo is likely to be very high once the virus begins to spread, but the figures won't be accurate.

Bearbehind · 20/03/2020 21:51

Corfu is part of Greece

There many be islands without it but there are currently only 10 countries - if you work on there being 195 countries in the world

Nitpickpicnic · 20/03/2020 21:57

Sorry, Tasmania has cases. It was about 10 three days ago, but more now.

The problem with some of the South Pacific island numbers is that testing isn’t really available or done. So they can look clear. Also many islanders go to Australia & NZ for work (on several month contracts) so their natural isolation gets messed with.

The only places with no CV will likely be in bunkers, where the Prepper owners locked themselves in early enough to shut the virus out. They likely won’t die, but it’s no way to live.

aliasname · 20/03/2020 21:59

Imagine if the Sentinel Islands (the uncontacted people mentioned earlier, who have NO contact at all with the outside world) are the only survivors of a world wide pandemic... one day they just notice that there no planes overhead, and no ships passing.

Tr1skel1on · 20/03/2020 22:02

Uganda. They have excellent infection control, have successfully dealt with Ebola, and quite frankly we could learn a lot from Uganda at the moment.

titchy · 20/03/2020 22:02

If I lived on on island I would hope my government closed all borders as much as they could.

Are you not in the U.K. then?

ivykaty44 · 20/03/2020 22:03

Does the Isle of Man have any actual cases?

MitziK · 20/03/2020 22:07

What about those islands where contact with the inhabitants is forbidden; they killed a relgious trespassers within last year or 2

Wouldn't have thought so. They had a point, after all.

Bearbehind · 20/03/2020 22:07

That is amazing isn’t it.

I’m trying to work out which the other countries are

I think 2 of the 195 are the Holy See and Palestine so that leaves 193, less Uganda so there’s 7 others

PerkingFaintly · 20/03/2020 22:09

None reported yet in Zimbabwe or Botswana, according to that map. Doesn't mean they don't have it, just none reported yet.

I tell a lie, the second link (Worldometer) gives one case in Zimbabwe.

Bermuda?

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 20/03/2020 22:19

I didn’t realise Switzerland had so many cases!

KenDodd · 20/03/2020 22:19

I wonder if they're in any sort of position to isolate the whole islands?

Craftycorvid · 20/03/2020 22:21

Cheating with a continent, but guessing it’s all a bit quiet in Antarctica.

Bearbehind · 20/03/2020 22:21

A lot of people who live in northern Italy work in Switzerland, hence the dire situation there too

KenDodd · 20/03/2020 22:27

I did wonder about Antarctica. I believe a very small number of people overwinter there. I wonder what will happen with that?

I suppose there might be a couple of people on the ISS as well Grin
