Do you think schools will reopen after Easter

My children’s Easter break ends late April. Is it likely they will be able to return? Both have sen so the lack of routine isn’t helpful for them. I’ve obviously explained how serious this is.

I think june

PaddyF0dder · 18/03/2020 16:40

No chance.

That’s it until after summer hols.

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 18/03/2020 16:42

The CMO has talked about 12 weeks, for vulnerable/elderly people, so that would take us to mid-June. So perhaps schools will open then, but who knows.

CoronaIsComing · 18/03/2020 16:43

Nope I think Friday is my DS’s last day of primary school 😵

blue25 · 18/03/2020 16:46

No, won’t be going back until September.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 18/03/2020 16:50

I think we will open in June. I think they will close for 12 weeks but will, hopefully, partially open in may/june just for those sitting exams.

BiNgOoOo · 18/03/2020 16:54

I'm another one who also thinks it will be before the summer holidays. I think they will want to get schools back as soon as possible. The whole thing is a mess Sad

sadatchristmas1 · 18/03/2020 16:58

GCSEs and Alevels are unlikely to go ahead in wales it had been announced they are looking at awarding them their predicted grades.

filka · 18/03/2020 17:09

It's easy to tell people to all stay at home to save ourselves from COVID. But which politician is going to be brave enough to tell everyone that its safe to come out now?

People are saying it's like a war, but in a war you usually know when someone has won. This is going to be a long haul.

Cornettoninja · 18/03/2020 17:31

@filka, at some point they just have to deal with the facts regardless of how unpopular they are.

If anyone needs a ray of hope there’s been some really promising results from existing medications but it takes time to verify and logistically manufacture. South Korea (with excellent recovery rates) are reporting some pretty consistent outcomes.

midnightstar66 · 18/03/2020 19:52

No, im school staff in Scotland and we've been told August - October is likely

LemonBreeland · 19/03/2020 10:33

midnightstar66 I did wonder if we may not be back in August, but didn't think as far as October. There are some seriously deluded people on here if they think schools will open in a few weeks.

My DS1 will have his last ever day at High School tomorrow. It's a sad end to his school career.

March20 · 07/04/2020 15:54

Been reading the comments. I want to remain positive I'm struggling to see the silver lining right now. I’m a key worker & I have a place in a school/play scheme for my child. Hats off to the parents who are at home with the kids. As the peak of the COVID-19 hasn’t begun yet it doesn’t look like the Schools would re open before September.
