All healthcare should get a pay rise

Hi
I would like to get peoples views on all healthcare staff to get a pay rise.
Especially nhs staff.
I work in the nhs as a nursing assistant and I am really scared of catching it.

I have 2 daughters who I've kept off school as they are asthmatic.

We have been told unless we are sick with the cornavirus then we still have to go work regardless.

What is everyone's opinion

Didn't mean to offend Mctag it's not a bad thing you are saying. It's just that the Florence nightingale ethos that many healthcare workers themselves adhere to, tends to keep conditions and pay from improving.

@Floralnomad if all was as simple as that deaths wouldn’t be rising daily ALL around the world. This is not something nursing staff have ever seen before hence every where been on lock down!! Also the PPE isn’t sufficient not to mention lack of it on many wards..

I definitely agree when this pandemic is over Healthcares/medical team should be given some type of bonus. There’s a lot of people staying we should be “grateful” if you had of said this a few weeks ago I probably would of agreed! With the way things are looking I’m willing to do my role however if I feel it would compromise my family (lone parent to only child) I would seriously way up weather my salary is worth it... can’t spend when your dead! There’s pros & cons people who have lost jobs is a sad sad time (but we are not living in a 3rd world Country by any means) we all have it quite good! Also for all those saying we signed up for this ECT... actually NO WE DID not there’s not been anything like this globally for quite some time it’s actually a disgrace that we don’t have the correct PPE. Would teachers be expected to teach without equipment? Books, overhead projectors tables and chairs?

No burning desire for a pay rise, I do have a huge issue with not being provided the PPE and being constantly lied to with a total lack of transparency. I would happily work for free to help my colleagues fight this if you give me a hazmat suit. Until then I will risk assess.

Nurses and health care assistants, other support staff have been overdue a massive pay rise for as long as I can remember. Not sure that all consultants need a pay rise. I can think of few who definitely don't.

On top of that I think everyone who has worked dealing with covid patients should receive a hazard pay style bonus.

I know the country is broke but we will have to find it because if anyone should be paid well, it's nurses who are often doing the hardest and most important jobs while bloody footballers and bankers spend a nurse's annual salary on an evening out.

@HowIrresponsible your comment is shocking this is NOT what nurses/healthcares signed up for never has there been a situation like this in our generation. Hence nurses even giving up their jobs! Your family members clearly have failed to tell you about the lack of PPE!!.
