All healthcare should get a pay rise

Hi
I would like to get peoples views on all healthcare staff to get a pay rise.
Especially nhs staff.
I work in the nhs as a nursing assistant and I am really scared of catching it.

I have 2 daughters who I've kept off school as they are asthmatic.

We have been told unless we are sick with the cornavirus then we still have to go work regardless.

What is everyone's opinion

Listen I have put a post on here to hear people's opinions.

And if you don’t like them, you behave like a spoilt child. See below.

If you don't like what I say or anyone else then go away and stop posting.

NHS staff should be used to the same old BS about how they should all be doing their job because of a “vocation” and shouldn’t really need paying at all! You are all “angels” until you dare ask for anymore money - then suddenly you get told you are in the wrong job 🙄
How very uppity of you to think you deserve anything more! Really Nurse get back in your little box and get on with saving everyone else’s asses!

What from the magic money tree?

Pomegranatepompom · 18/03/2020 22:07

Why are posters being so nasty? Hopefully if you need NHS help, you'll be a bit more polite.

Iamthewombat · 18/03/2020 22:28

If my elderly relatives need NHS help during the Covid-19 crisis, and I am forced to listen to whinging by care givers about how NHS staff should be given an instant pay rise because this isn’t what they signed up for, etc., I am unlikely to be polite.

MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 18/03/2020 22:35

I did a brief stint in the NHS due to a change in circumstances and I've never felt less valued. I'm actually a secondary teacher, so it's saying something that I feel much more valued in my 'real' profession.

@Pomegranatepompom
Thanks

@Iamthewombat
What you need to understand is no1 is moaning about having a pay rise. It was a question on how people feel about it..

No nhs staff are going to standing around patients complaining that they are not getting paid enough. They will just do there job..

I love the job that I do and wouldn't change it. I li ve to make a difference to patients life. I've seen people come and go many times, but at the end of it I feel happy because I no I did everything I did..

I doubt you’ll hear any winging wombat - my team are working in incredibly challenging circumstances, but are remaining calm
and positive. If we were driven by money, I don’t think we’d have chosen the nhs. You don’t seem to like or respect nhs staff for some reason.

jadey0885 · 18/03/2020 22:41

@Iamthewombat
Made a mistake**

I would suggest investing the money in proper equipment, more staff and better facilities might be better? Of course they deserve more, but surely having adequate conditions is more beneficial?

jadey0885 · 18/03/2020 22:42

@Pomegranatepompom

I don't think they do.
If anything they are taking what I posted personally!!

OP posts:
Iloveknockknockjokes · 18/03/2020 22:43

Definitely. Putting their life and their families on the line to help. The stress is enormous.

jadey0885 · 18/03/2020 22:46

I personally feel that maybe some people who have commented on here have taken my post personally..

It was a question I wanted to ask and get opinions.

I have the most respect for anyone working in conditions like this I.e retailers, shop workers etc.

But because if my profession I spoke about myself.

Everyone is doing what they need to do. But I find it highly offence when people take things personally.

Just relax

100% they deserve extra pay for being frontline to all this.

SallyLovesCheese · 18/03/2020 23:00

I've always thought a lot of frontline medical staff need paying more (cousin who's a community nurse - she deserves more!).

Especially now you guys are working overtime for no extra money.

The banks should pay back the money used to bail them out and it could be shared out!

Mintypylonsfryingsurplus · 18/03/2020 23:01

Definitely better pay, lots of reports over the last few years of health workers being working poor/ using food banks etc.
News today how there are systems in place to allieviate the financial stress for the football industry, due to cancelled games/ events etc.
Like these greed mongers need salvaging.
The government has suddenly magicked billions of pounds to protect the economy and businesses.
Of course if that money really is used to protect jobs and keep businesses viable and not used to pay shareholders and the already wealthy.
This money they have agreed should have been made available to health care/ child care and decent wages years ago.
I despair I really do I do hope that after this shit fest people get priorities right and society becomes fairer.

WwfLeopard · 18/03/2020 23:11

You deserve a medal! Putting others before yourself and your family is not something many would do, unfortunately I doubt they’ll be any recognition, but for what it’s worth, I’m extremely great full to everyone of you

jadey0885 · 19/03/2020 00:15

@WwfLeopard
I appreciate your kindness. Smile

buttonmoonb4tea · 19/03/2020 00:24

Surely if you are looking after people with Covid -19 then you will be wearing appropriate PPE equipment so you are no more at risk than when you are looking after people with other contagious diseases which is a daily occurrence . @Floralnomad

Have you not seen the pleas from the NHS for appropriate PPE. They are unprepared. There's many dealing with COVID19 patients NOW without PPE.

I feel so sorry and angry on behalf of NHS workers right now.

LemonSquash94 · 19/03/2020 00:26

It’s not just the front line staff though, I’ve been working pretty much solidly since last Thursday as a data analyst for a large Trust to get the most up to date and accurate operational data out as soon at it becomes available.

People forget and don’t always realise how hard some people work ‘behind the scenes’. It’s been hard and relentless work and while no, I’m not face to face on a ward each day I’m still going into a hospital with confirmed cases and working non stop to help enable decisions to be made as well as possible.

GrumpyHoonMain · 19/03/2020 00:28

I think delivery drivers, carers, and supermarket workers should also have pay rises or at least not have to work zero hours contracts. This crisis has shown how indispensable so called ‘blue collar’ work is to our society.

jadey0885 · 19/03/2020 00:29

@buttonmoonb4tea
You are 100% right

OP posts:
Elllicam · 19/03/2020 00:35

@Iamthewombat you wouldn’t hear any healthcare staff complaining in my trust. Because as a relative you wouldn’t be allowed in the ward. Because it’s not safe.
