Live in London- must be 7 supermarkets within a 10 minute drive of me, I went to 3 today- no meat, no veg, no fruit, no bread- on top of no cleaning products.
What exactly are we supposed to do? I haven’t seen a restocked supermarket in weeks.
FYI I consider all preppers scum!

If your supermarket has stock, Where are you? What time are you turning up to shop?

The former did not cause this, I mean - the last minute panic buyers did.

NeckPainChairSearch · 17/03/2020 22:54

I do hope those calling for wartime-style rationing aren't preppers: thanks to wartime powers, homes could be searched without a warrant and those found to be in possession of 'excessive quantities' fined for their hoard and prevented from purchasing more until they'd used it up

Thanks for that. People need a bit more to worry about.

GreytExpectations · 17/03/2020 22:55

@22:52BanKittenHeels oh do calm down dear. You don't seem well, I hope you feel better soon.

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 17/03/2020 22:56

just think the "sneery better than you attitude" is immature

Have you looked at your own posts? I've not seen any preppers be sneery. You, on the other hand, are being extremely rude and outright verbally abusive.

your need to say you are giving breast milk to your neighbour is showing off.

Actually, it's refuting the unfounded allegations of selfishness that you levelled at Ban.

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 17/03/2020 22:57

oh do calm down dear

And you accuse preppers of being patronising?

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 17/03/2020 22:57

My son has been really disappointed with the apocalypse so far. He was hoping for more zombies

Dd said virtually the same thing about an hour ago

The word she used was ‘cool’ though...sooooooo

I hope rationing does happen. Means a level playing field for all. Society is too selfish to be trusted to handle this themselves

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 17/03/2020 22:57

Yup

theflushedzebra · 17/03/2020 22:58

Ha, they'd have to get past the dogs, traps and machine gun nests first.

(Joking).

If it came to that, I'd gladly relinquish my loo rolls and tins in the garage.

biwinoone · 17/03/2020 22:59

Local shops have most of the things you want.

GreytExpectations · 17/03/2020 22:59

@bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg you clearly missed the fact I said that in sarcasm as it was originally said to me. Also I haven't used any direct verbal attacks such as what I just recently got called. Yes preppers are currently being very sneery.

BanKittenHeels · 17/03/2020 23:01

You don't seem well, I hope you feel better soon.

Ooh casting aspersions on my mental health? How lovely.

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 17/03/2020 23:01

Another unfounded accusation: there are plenty of generous people out there.

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 17/03/2020 23:02

I've not read every single word of this thread, so I may have missed some earlier mudslinging.

Yes preppers are currently being very sneery.

Citation needed.

BanKittenHeels · 17/03/2020 23:03

And yet I’d still give you and your family some of my preps if needed, even though I think your are shit stirrer.

Anyone who thinks people who long term prep should hand over all of their preps are presumably letting out their spare rooms to homeless and dishing out their savings left right and centre? This is our safety net. How are you unable to understand that?

BanKittenHeels · 17/03/2020 23:04

And I can’t type. Bed!

Willow2017 · 17/03/2020 23:05

I just think OP is confusing preppers with panic buyers. The former did not cause this.

GreytExpectations · 17/03/2020 23:06

Ooh casting aspersions on my mental health? How lovely.

Apologies @BadKittenHeels I thought you had said that same thing to me a couple pages ago but I checked and it was actually another poster.

Willow2017 · 17/03/2020 23:06

Yes preppers are currently being very sneery.
Not seen this once on any thread.
I have seen them defending themselves against pure vitriol though.

corythatwas · 17/03/2020 23:08

It's a tricky one as in the war no one was likely to have to keep indoors and away without opportunities to visit food stores for weeks on end. We are self-isolating atm due to what is probably flu, but could also be corona- no means of knowing as there is no testing. If we'd only been shopping for the day we would be very, very hungry by now and we've still got about a week to go.
On the other hand, when we did stock up we were very careful not to buy more than normal of any one food stuff. No filling of trolleys with loo roll or pasta. We just made sure we had enough of something to survive a period of quarantine one way or another.

theflushedzebra · 17/03/2020 23:08

I am sorry for OP, even though she called preppers (who are not responsible for the empty shelves) scum.

Nobody should be met with empty shelves when they're working hard, in the NHS. I'm sorry you're dealing with this OP.

I do thnk some form of rationing will be brought in. The most cynical thing I've seen is people buying up all the soap/sanitiser and then trying to sell it on for a profit. Nasty. Profiting from people's needs/fears.

DailyKegelReminder · 17/03/2020 23:09

I only know a handful of preppers can't speak for all but I dont see them as selfish as they started long before i even thought about getting an extra tin of beans but I will say, some preppers or people with severe anxiety will not go below a certain amount in their "back ups" and will continue to buy. That is what I dont understand, no way 2 of the preppers i know would ever go down to their last couple (or even 8!) Tins of beans, The anxiety would kick in for them and they will stop shop. That leaves people who didn't think or were unable to stock up without food. Most of what you are seeing are people panic buying.

EachandEveryone · 17/03/2020 23:10

Try your local shops. As someone said above, get yourself to a Turkish area. We have loads of fresh fruit on every street corner.

DailyKegelReminder · 17/03/2020 23:11

Still not stop*
