They say everyone with symptoms should be tested. And this along isolation.

They also said that people who have it can be contagious for 2 weeks AFTER they feel well.

So I'm sure Boris will be along soon to confirm what the uk are doing.

Jesus. Christ.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-51903319, scroll down to time 16.26 and read all the bullet points.

Oh dear. Guy on Sky News, just said Nadine Dorries OAP mum had a more mild case of coronavirus than Nadine Dorries.

Meanwhile we also learn that some children have been very poorly and infants have died (though they may have had underlying health issues).

Good God, do these people even know how much they contradict themselves?!

ameliethree · 16/03/2020 17:10

What are vulnerable groups supposed to do if they have school age children who are still required to attend school....I’m confused...

willowpatterns · 16/03/2020 17:21

other countries are managing it
Not according to my BIL in the USA they're not, @alloutoffucks

Mrsmadevans · 16/03/2020 17:24

BJ seemingly responded appropiately to the WHO update

fretaway · 16/03/2020 17:24

Unfortunately I suspect the reticence to test is all down to one thing - money. It’s going to cost them to run the tests.

We have to keep on putting pressure on the government to change their policy, it’s bad for the people that have it and bad for the people that don’t.

ShowYourself · 16/03/2020 17:25

I’m not sure about babies but we already knew some children aged 9 and above have sadly died. :(

FthisS · 16/03/2020 17:27

My gp phoned me today to arrange an extra prescription of steroids for my son with brittle asthma. He actually told me to keep him home (he has been home for 2wks) and he actually said you must be terrified for him.

RainydaysandMondaysalways · 16/03/2020 17:38

Has anyone heard not to use ibuprofen? Only paracetamol. Similar to chicken pox.

FthisS · 16/03/2020 17:40

People with asthma should not use ibuprofen so I guess with this causing breathing issues that makes sense.

MrsFogi · 16/03/2020 17:41

This self-isolation stuff is BS - without outing myself I know someone whose dh is at home with an horrific case of flu (since returning from a red zone) and who is awaiting test results and she is still doing all her usual social activities because she doesn't think she needs to self-isolate because she is fine. I suspect there are 100s/1000s like her who are either stupid/selfish/special.

Fortyquinn · 16/03/2020 17:41

Can someone please tell me at what point in the who press conference do they talk about children?

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 16/03/2020 17:43

It was a very quick line saying that though children tend to get it milder they can and have got it.

TK1930 · 16/03/2020 17:47

It’s not a quick line about children
Someone asks a question & gets a detailed response from Maria Van Kerkhoe
It’s around 50min - 1.05 in

WHO
"Once again, our key message is:
test,
test,
test.

This is a serious disease. Although the evidence we have suggests that those over 60 are at highest risk, young people, including children, have died"-
@DrTedros

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 16/03/2020 18:17

I missed Maria's comment. Was quick from the DG

TK1930 · 16/03/2020 18:29

WhatICallMyUsername · 16/03/2020 18:30

WhatICallMyUsername · 16/03/2020 18:30

Lumene · 16/03/2020 18:34

Yes 55 deaths. I wonder how many in London given what they said about London being a few weeks ahead...
