For fuck sake. My whole ocado shop for today has been cancelled. Generally speaking it's tricky for us to get to the shops but by some rare stroke of luck my partner had to bring the car home this weekend (usually kept at his parents many miles away). Thankfully we'll be able to drive to the shops but what about those who can't? People in self isolation or those who have to rely on online shops for other reasons? Slots aren't available until next week, midweek at the earliest!

I've been telling myself to stay calm, only buy what we need, don't add to the problem of shops being out of stock. But now I'm panicking it's really hard to stick to that. I'm now not sure if I'll be able to hold back from panic buying now. We have barely any food in the house and usually we only get enough to last us a week but I think I'll have to stock up on two weeks worth now. We might end up not even being able to get anything today due to shelves being bare.

Why was it cancelled? Now worried about my Tesco’s shop

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/03/2020 09:58

Why was it cancelled? Have they contacted you or just a text?

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 16/03/2020 10:01

Probably cancelled because they don't have the stock to deliver to you. I have a friend in tesco and she says, it's not because there are so many people ordering, but because they just don't have the stock.

Number12 · 16/03/2020 10:02

Noooo, mine is due Wednesday!! Did they explain why or what's going on?

littlepeaegg · 16/03/2020 10:02

Mine was also cancelled. No explanation as of yet but when I go onto the Ocado app you can't even book another in now

Glittercandle · 16/03/2020 10:02

Did they say why? Are you a new customer?

DameXanaduBramble · 16/03/2020 10:03

I’ve got one on Thursday. Unless you’re ordering stuff that is out of stock or in high demand why would they cancel?

whiskeylullaby2 · 16/03/2020 10:03

I would assume they do not have the stock to deliver. Was it lots of the hardest to get hold of items, pasta, soap, toilet roll etc ?

Or not enough drivers if people are isolating ?

MummyPop00 · 16/03/2020 10:04

Re: home shopping.

Think companies should prioritise long term customers who pay yearly upfront (like us). Been with Asda paying this way for the last 3 years.

Pissed off that I’m fighting for slots with Johnny come lately all of a sudden & will be emailing them to say so. One typical weekly shop, that’s all I need, I’m not asking a lot and ordering 300x dried pasta every other day like all the loons

CrunchyCarrot · 16/03/2020 10:04

Try phoning them and see if you can get an answer.

Scruffyoak · 16/03/2020 10:04

Oh shit I'm hoping my order gets sent to my nan tomorrow

LuxLFC · 16/03/2020 10:05

A lot of shops deliver direct from stores as opposed to warehouses. Maybe that is the reason?

Drycoughadviceujuju · 16/03/2020 10:05

That's not good is it. I'm a non driver with two young children. My partner's away working in the week a lot so I tend to get an Asda shop delivered or sometimes I use Morrisons. The slots are just disappearing and it's really hard to plan 3 weeks in advance with my shopping so I'm also feeling a bit stressed. I've signed up to something called milk and more last night and I'm just going to get a pint of milk and some orange juice and eggs and bacon delivered tomorrow. I think at the moment I just don't want to go in the supermarkets unless I have to because it just sounds like Hell in them. As long as we have some basics in I can keep the kids fed, so I'm hoping we'll be ok. It's becoming a nightmare and I really don't have a lot of faith in the governmen,t they're not putting enough in place now. People are going to be panicking because cases are rising, people are preparing to be locked in their houses for weeks. people will be greedy now with pasta etc because they know it's disappearing off the shelves. It's just be coming chaos and I can't believe Boris is just expecting us all to just carry on as normal and plodding along as normal. Telling elderly to stay in the house for 4 months that's great but who's going to do their shopping for them if they don't have anyone.

Lumene · 16/03/2020 10:07

We don’t have a car so rely on online shopping though not impossible to go to shops in dribs and drabs

Maybe Ocado are reserving slots for elderly who have to isolate?

twinmum2017 · 16/03/2020 10:07

My tesco delivery got cancelled last night. They called at 4.20, after the shops had shut for the day 🤦🏻‍♀️

I called customer service and they actually managed to rearrange delivery for this morning for me. Might be worth a call

Wineislifex · 16/03/2020 10:07

I’ve just had my order come from Asda with only one substitution with was a small loaf for a larger one, I’m impressed!

Pinkfrangipani · 16/03/2020 10:07

Whenever I go to the Ocado app it doesn't connect. I can't even place an order.

DameXanaduBramble · 16/03/2020 10:09

Ocado is working on desktop. You just have to wait in a queue.

Vallderama · 16/03/2020 10:09

They are tweeting that there are "operational issues this morning" and have cancelled lots of orders.

notanurse2017 · 16/03/2020 10:09

The Ocado app isn't working for the foreseeable future.

Hope that you get your order sorted, Op.

Vagessence · 16/03/2020 10:10

Not a new customer and I was just buying the normal stuff I buy weekly so no 50 million packs of pasta or anything weird. The first line of the email "Due to operational issues we've been forced to cancel your Ocado deliver." They probably had some of the stuff from my order but not enough to justify delivering. I would have still appreciate some things as it would mean less to try and track down in the supermarket. I'm envisioning having to go to multiple shops now to get all the things we need.

I think I'd be a lot more laid back if I didn't have kids who are kind of fussy eaters. I really want to be able to remain calm but I can feel calmness (not so slowly) leaving me.

Just checked my click and collect and half of it is no longer available... No message... Nothing...

lubeybooby · 16/03/2020 10:12

Stores are putting out messages saying they are working on increasing stocks and warehouse space after all the recent panic. Things will calm down and you'll be able to order again soon. Hold tight

DameXanaduBramble · 16/03/2020 10:12

Yes, lots of supermarkets work out of the individual branches so it’s not a live system with regards to stock quantities. Just because it’s available to add doesn’t mean you’ll get it. Dark stores obviously will know what’s available because they don’t have customers buying off the shelf. Ocado, Waitrose in London.

Frenchw1fe · 16/03/2020 10:13

Apparently Iceland are still delivering. I assume it will only be a matter of time before people cotton on to this and change allegiance.
