To feel scared and embarrassed to live in the U.K. right now?

We have a PM who is an arrogant muppet who really only cares about himself and doesn’t give a toss about anyone else.

Wes don’t have respirators, oxygen, or even basic medical equipment. The government knew this and should have started doing something two months ago when it all kicked off.

How is hand washing going to help my daughter who has to get a crowded bus to school, with people coughing and sneezing into her face.

My partner said something that hit the nail on the head today: we should be doing what the PM/MO are doing with their families - are they going to school/work/visiting elderly?

Sorry but it's the flue .people die all the time from flue. Talking about self isolation for elderly .they would die a lot of them from neglect never mind the flue

Ehhh...In California and Washington they have stopped 14 day quarantines because its too hard to tell if they have been exposed

@aprilanne it's not just the flu. This is very different. They don't know enough about it and it's new. There's a vaccine for the flu but there isn't one for this. We aren't equipped for the sheer number of people who will need hospitalisation.

We do have respirators, oxygen, and far more than basic medical equipment, but no-one saw this coming, or could have predicted that this would spread so far or so fast. Keep your daughter home if you are worried, or make alternative arrangements to get her to school.

Why are you embarrassed to be in the UK? I don't think any country has enough medical kit to cope with this. People are scared in other countries too.

It's not the flu. The seasonal flu has a vaccine and a treatment.
This has no vaccine, no treatment and has a higher mortality rate than flu.

Well my fathers gp told us this he said it has been In this country for months and it's only now we are panicking .my father has copd and is a bilateral amputee and the doc said just do what you do normally just make sure you wash your hands more often

What would you like him to do, OP. This is going to be with us for a long time, basically forever. It won't just go away. It will cause problems for months and potentially years everywhere. I didn't want a Tory government but it seems the majority did so we don't have much choice now and I'm not sure anyone else could come up with a better solution. I don't think you are well enough informed.

When every other affected country is in lockdown or has massively increased testing to isolate individual people (South Korea) and deal with the outbreak that way, it is clear IMO that the government are playing Russian roulette with us.
