Just witnessed the future in Asda car park!

Just witnessed an elderly lady telling a man in a face mask that "he should be staying at home if he has it"

He then told her that he didn't have it and it was a precaution.

He sounded like he was Italian so she shouted "I bet you have been to Italy"

He then flew into a tirade shouting that she should be self isolating as she was over 70 - and to quote him "you're all going to F**ing die if you don't!

As I walked away they were still screaming at each other from their cars!

Is this the future! We will all be turning on each other!

Our asda has put limits on certain items. So you can only buy 2 large packs of loo roll etc. This woman went to put a small trolley full of baby formula through. Assistant went over and told her she can only buy 2 and she went nuts. The queues were huge. There was one family (,woman, man, 2 teens) they all had a large trolley full each. I've honestly never seen anything like it

Well, this the result of forty-odd years of Thatcherism. We’ve been told to consume, and to look after Number One. Now the chickens are coming home to roost

FFS. Hmm

I'm afraid this has less to do with margaret thatcher and more to do with the nature of human beings. We have always been just two meals away from total anarchy...

Gordonsgrin · 15/03/2020 14:40

Perhaps I am the only one honest enough on here to confess, I am the only one who has does a bit of bulk buying ; only for loo rolls. I have 32 rolls stashed but that is for my family of 4 which includes 2 people with serious ibd, and for my elderly father in law as he can’t get any delivered and the local shop is sold out continuously.
I Am ready to be flamed but I only did this today when I tried to get some as part of my usual shop yesterday and couldn’t find any. I am not prone to panic but this has def bought the worst out in me.

We look back at WW11 very fondly presuming the best of everyone was on show. It is worth noting that rationing was introduced by the government to PREVENT the able and wealthy from stockpiling and grabbing too much. They had done so in WW1 and civilian death due to malnutrition was very high. At a time like this government intervention is important.

moondance19 · 15/03/2020 14:41

Protect from the virus I would have thought.

maldivemoment · 15/03/2020 14:42

Putting a more positive spin on this; we have a neighbourhood WhatsApp group. Several elderly, vulnerable folk in our street and I have to say the response has been great. Everyone chipping in, doing what we can & realising this whole saga is not just about 'me'

Be nice to see some more of this & I'm confident we will 🙏

No unpleasantness at all in my local shops and supermarkets. Have to laugh at the Thatcher comment, along with numerous comments from my mum about the evil granny killer Boris.

Apparently when he advised older people to stay home that was 'just to protect the fucking ECONOMY'. Well yes mother, medicine and doctors do need to be paid for. And nurses have kids to feed.

Someone on here said 'he doesn't care about old people, he just doesn't want us taking up hospital beds'. Well what an epic cunt! Imagine hoping that old people don't get ill. Disgraceful!

NoClarification · 15/03/2020 14:43

@PeterPanGoesWrong

"Family behind me had 45 eggs! I silently cursed the greedy, hoarding, panic buying twats. Nobody needs three packs of 15 eggs."

That would last our family just about 10 days at our usual rate of egg consumption Blush We eat a LOT of eggs. (wasn't me in t' supermarket though. My usual weekly shop contains 24 eggs and I pick up another 6-pack or two during the week!).

tillytoodles1 · 15/03/2020 14:44

Last month FB was full of posters saying "be kind". Now it should be "f*ck you lot, it's all about me" from the way things are going.

Inkpaperstars · 15/03/2020 14:44

Such a shame. I was in Sainsburys yesterday and I felt encouraged that even though it was busy and frantic everyone was polite, no pushing or rudeness.

I think the government need to be clear as soon as possible about plans for rationing things, or saying that delivery slots must prioritise the elderly.

2004bestyear · 15/03/2020 14:45

Most supermarkets open at 9.30 for browsing VivaLeBeaver then the tills open at 10am.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/03/2020 14:46

Ah, didn’t realise they opened for browsing early. Bugger, no wonder it was rammed!

FallonSwift · 15/03/2020 14:46

The food bank donation box at my local Tesco is overflowing. That is all.

They've had to put the collection behind the customer service desk in Asda because people were stealing out of it Sad

GabsAlot · 15/03/2020 14:47

Got an email form sainsburys telling everyone to shop as they normally wouold and they can cope-except noones listening its got to be time to start rationing items

also wearing a mask wont stop you getting the virus theyve said this multiple times on the news reports

SauvignonBlanche · 15/03/2020 14:47

I saw a real change from yesterday to today, I was in both Waitrose and Sainsbury’s yesterday, they were busy and no toilet roll, obviously, but bearable.
I popped into Waitrose for the pares and a coffee this morning and it was horrible, it felt really frantic with queues everywhere which is really unusual on a Sunday morning. There’re were trolleys pilled high but many shelves bare.

Alsohuman · 15/03/2020 14:49

Someone on here said 'he doesn't care about old people, he just doesn't want us taking up hospital beds'. Well what an epic cunt! Imagine hoping that old people don't get ill. Disgraceful!

I think that someone was on the money. I don’t think Boris gives a toss about old people getting ill, unless it’s because they’re where the majority of his votes come from.

Mordred · 15/03/2020 14:51

Humans. Being cunts since 20,000 BC. We don't change.

Mrscaindingle · 15/03/2020 14:53

I must be in the minority as I bonded with staff and other shoppers about how surreal this all is and had a laugh about the toilet roll aisle.
I saw no aggression just a bit of good humoured banter. Confused

itsgettingweird · 15/03/2020 14:54

Mimi I think some stores open at 9.30 but cannot actually open tills for trading until 10am. I'm sure some shops round here do the same.

SilverOtter · 15/03/2020 14:54

I've ordered a tray of 48 eggs off amazon...Cadbury creme eggs😋

This flab of mine is going to stand me in good stead...like a camel in the desert Grin

itsgettingweird · 15/03/2020 14:55

Amelie yes. And also for disabled people too. My ds with asd is swimming so much atm with the shops being rammed with unpredictable people.

itsgettingweird · 15/03/2020 14:55

Sorry pressed send too soon.

Also people who use wheelchairs, mobility aids etc are put in danger with people running done aliases to grab the last loo roll etc.

Alice02132354 · 15/03/2020 14:56

There's been a lot of cv spreading this last couple of days...mainly among the stockpiling community. Numbers will be in next week
