Am I the only one who finds the Coronovirus inconvenient more than anything?

My husband, daughter and I are all fit and healthy and had Disney booked for Easter. Now it’s looking like we can’t go which for us personally, is a total bugger. I can’t even get through on the lines to cancel and get my money back and have to leave it a week because the lines are jammed.

I went to the supermarket on Thursday and today to get hand wash and some other bits. The first was totally sold out of soap and pasta. The second...:it was like the apocalypse. No canned food.....no bread...the idea of hand wash, soap or shower gel was a joke and all the branston pickle was gone. Branston fucking pickle?!?!?

I over heard a lady saying she can’t get nappies for her kids because they are all gone.

Some kid sneezed at a flip out /trampoline place today and I swear I thought some of the parents were going to shoot him where he stood. The rate they were going on you’d think he’d been licking the hand rails or something.

If you turn the news on, all you hear is about covid (as if nothing else is happening in the world) and it’s so dramatic. Have you seen the screen the bbc put up with covid plastered across it? It’s highly inflammatory and not even slightly reassuring.

Before people lay into me about being selfish I totally get why SOME portions of the community are worried. I get it because my father and father in law are elderly and both suffer with serious health issues and presumably you and they would implement the measures they can but normal people in a similar situation to me have lost their fucking minds!!!!

I said this yesterday but people do realise that in order to stop this from spreading, everyone needs to be able to access some form of soap. What good is it doing if you are wading into your bathroom, knee deep in it all when the rest of the world hasn’t got any 🙄

It’s not the reading skills lacking,

CocoandClive · 15/03/2020 08:59

It's not unreasonable to feel frustrated and upset at having to cancel holidays but I think the impact is a lot bigger than that now. People are dying. Vulnerable people are becoming more vulnerable. People can't get the things they need. It's pretty serious.

I have a friend who has had to cancel a holiday for next week and she's put endless things about it on social media. How unfair it is, how upset her kids are, how 'stupid china' is to blame for all this. I just think it's very crass and self important to be ranting about a cancelled holiday or trip or football match when everyone is suffering, everyone is at risk and things could be very bad for certain sections of society. Yes it's disappointing but get some perspective ffs.

@Starbuck8419 I haven't read the full thread, no. That makes me busy not an idiot. Your initial thread was in my opinion quite immature, selfish and naive though. Your most recent one is just plain rude.

Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 09:48

I do find the entire thing really inconvenient.

Of course it is inconvenient. And annoying. But it is like that for everyone, not just you.

My parents are annoyed they are probably going to have to stay at home for 4 months. My sister is annoyed that all her clients are cancelling their events and asking for their deposits back. My daughter is annoyed that her GCSEs are under threat. I am annoyed that I can't seem to buy a thermometer to take my child's temperature - and they do feel warmer than normal.

But in the long run these are just minor annoyances and inconveniences, and going online and whining about them just makes you look like an arse.

Pinksaffire · 15/03/2020 10:23

I work for the NHS and my daughter was crying in case I catch it and die. As I was comforting her she suddenly asked if our own Disneyworld holiday would be cancelled in August.
It’s nice to know I’m on a par with Disney 😂

Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 13:29

@CocoandClive nope. You cannot comment on something without having the full facts. Something which you didn’t bother to get before spouting off. Someone reported me for calling someone an idiot? Amazing.

OP posts:
Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 13:30

@Oakmaiden nope. Makes me have a different point of view and at no point did I say I was the only one Inconvenienced. It’s hard work trying to explain the same thing over and over again when people are too lazy to read it all.

OP posts:
Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 13:31

@Pinksaffire me and her have something in common then because apparently we both equate loved ones and holidays to the same value 😂

OP posts:
Oakmaiden · 15/03/2020 13:53

@Starbuck8419 Actually I have read every post you have made on this thread.

And you come across as an arse.

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2020 13:54

Op you can choose to stop posting idiotic posts.

butterpuffed · 15/03/2020 14:11

What are you hoping to achieve by this thread , OP ? It's unclear however much you say posters should understand it by reading your posts.

exLtEveDallas · 15/03/2020 14:32

As I was comforting her she suddenly asked if our own Disneyworld holiday would be cancelled in August. It’s nice to know I’m on a par with Disney

We haven’t even booked our summer holiday yet and DD is more concerned with the possibility of Tui/A N Other airline going bust and meaning we won’t be able to have one than she is about CV19! I can see where her priorities lie Grin

Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 14:47

@Oakmaiden then you’ve failed to grasp what I’ve been saying

OP posts:
Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 14:48

@butterpuffed I’m achieving as much as any of the other terrified by Coronovirus threads.

Cocoandclive27 · 15/03/2020 17:40

@Starbuck8419 spouting off? You mean having an opinion that's slightly different to yours? You sound like a lovely person...

Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 18:34

@Cocoandclive27 I’m sorry the words spouting off upset you more than calling someone selfish, immature and naive after deliberately not reading an entire conversation and making assumptions.

I’m actually really nice unless my holiday is cancelled.... clearly 👍🏻😂

OP posts:
Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 18:37

Ahhh mumsnet. You never fail. 😊

OP posts:
SleepyNightOwl · 15/03/2020 18:45

You’re an odd one op. Bit embarrassing how funny you think you’re being..

Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 18:54

@sleepynightowl don’t be embarrassed. You don’t know me and I’m not embarrassed because I’m well funny. My mum says so.

Anyway, I actually cancelled my hotel (which was sad )today but luckily got a Eurostar voucher rather than lose my entire money otherwise I’d of been livid.
Also, looks like the Italy summer holiday is off too which is another ball ache and disappointment.

On the plus side, someone parked over two spaces today in a full Lidl’s car park because they are THAT much of a cunt and none of the aisles had loo roll, canned goods, hand wash or bread/pasta. Thankfully it wasn’t inconvenient at all.

BuckingFrolics · 15/03/2020 19:06

@mordred thank you for that link. Bloody hell.

Sarahlou63 · 15/03/2020 19:06

@Starbuck8419 - I hope you're never this inconvenienced...

"I'm into day 6 of having the virus. I do have an underlying health problem which makes it worse. Its been a rough week for me. The cough, the fever and most importantly my breathing. Yesterday felt like I had a plastic bag over my head with just a tiny hole to gasp air through. The fever comes and goes. Same with the cough. A high pitched whistle of a cough. Waves of nausea. The sapping of energy when I exerted myself for even 5 minute. I'd be exhausted and just had to lay down with my arm across my eyes. The dull headache. Lack of appetite. Lack of quality sleep. 2 days ago I thought I was improving but yesterday knocked the shit outta me. Hopefully you are fit and just get the minor symptoms. I worry for my parents and all the elderly and people with ill heath. This is a leveller. I don't normally do personal posts. But I feel it's important that I share a small part of my coronavirus experience. If you self isolate then you cannot go to your GP. I couldn't get tested unless I'm admitted into hospital. But you have to isolate for 7 days. After 7 days of symptoms are persistent then call NHS 111(UK). Its daft. I don't know if Boris is getting this right by letting it sweep through the populace. It's the older and vulnerable people who will die quickest.

Social distancing and 14 days isolation/quarantine has to be the way. Yesterday I thought I'm going to die and I really didn't have the energy to do anything about it. Especially calling 111 and being on hold for an eternity when your trying to breath. Or your breathing is so shallow and you panic and start trying to get as much air in your lungs as possible. Which triggers my cough. I just lay there and waited for things to ease up. The days are long. I lost track of days and couldn't concentrate on anything for very long. I hope I get through this over the next few days and gain some antibodies. Good luck and love to everyone that includes the homeless and everyone. God I'm tired now I probably rambled on. I'm outta here dudes"

bellinisurge · 15/03/2020 19:17

Don't feed this one.

Starbuck8419 · 15/03/2020 19:20

Urgggggh again this wasn’t about anyone with Pre-existing conditions. It was specific to my situation that happens to reflect others situations too.

To think, some of you are allowed to vote. 😆🙄

OP posts:
Inkpaperstars · 15/03/2020 21:52

I guess the thread is also not about the people with no preexisting conditions who have died of covid -19 in their twenties, thirties and forties. It isn't about the teenagers it has killed. It isn't about the many people who have any sort of underlying condition who may become ill or have died across many age groups, it isn't about anyone over fifty and certainly not about anyone over 60. It isn't about the people who have lost their livelihoods or who have been bereaved.

Learn how to read, people! It is ABOUT OP's holiday to Disneyland which is case some of you haven't managed to grasp it has been CANCELLED which is VERY VERY INCONVENIENT, for the OP.
