Am I the only one who finds the Coronovirus inconvenient more than anything?

My husband, daughter and I are all fit and healthy and had Disney booked for Easter. Now it’s looking like we can’t go which for us personally, is a total bugger. I can’t even get through on the lines to cancel and get my money back and have to leave it a week because the lines are jammed.

I went to the supermarket on Thursday and today to get hand wash and some other bits. The first was totally sold out of soap and pasta. The second...:it was like the apocalypse. No canned food.....no bread...the idea of hand wash, soap or shower gel was a joke and all the branston pickle was gone. Branston fucking pickle?!?!?

I over heard a lady saying she can’t get nappies for her kids because they are all gone.

Some kid sneezed at a flip out /trampoline place today and I swear I thought some of the parents were going to shoot him where he stood. The rate they were going on you’d think he’d been licking the hand rails or something.

If you turn the news on, all you hear is about covid (as if nothing else is happening in the world) and it’s so dramatic. Have you seen the screen the bbc put up with covid plastered across it? It’s highly inflammatory and not even slightly reassuring.

Before people lay into me about being selfish I totally get why SOME portions of the community are worried. I get it because my father and father in law are elderly and both suffer with serious health issues and presumably you and they would implement the measures they can but normal people in a similar situation to me have lost their fucking minds!!!!

I said this yesterday but people do realise that in order to stop this from spreading, everyone needs to be able to access some form of soap. What good is it doing if you are wading into your bathroom, knee deep in it all when the rest of the world hasn’t got any 🙄

Fed up with it on the news all the time, yes , but I do think we should be tested. We think we might have had it around half term, from a person who returned from abroad who was ill through one family members work mate, rest of workmates and our whole family struck down one after other, Temperature, shivering etc shortness or breath, headache, bit of a cough... But we can't find out as no TEST!!

Sotiredofthislife · 14/03/2020 18:41

Oh of course. I don’t wish this had happened at all and I do grasp the severity of it....for some

some don’t matter, then? some should just hurry up and die so the rest of you can get on with going to Disneyland?

I sincerely wish I had nothing else to worry about right now other than whether or not I was going to get a holiday.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 14/03/2020 18:41

The last thing I feel is inconvenience, people are dying and are seriously ill, being inconvenienced so others can live then I’m more than ok with that.

Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 18:42

@amispeakingenglish that’s crazy I agree. Have you self isolated?

OP posts:
Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 18:44

@Sotiredofthislife pahahaha amazing. You’ve literally found an issue where there is none.
By some I meant those that are considered in the high risk categories. Not some of those within that.

Are you ok?
😂 don’t be THAT guy.
But yeah....I’ve said it all over this post I hope people will hurry up and die so I can go to Disney.

I mean....fucking hell 😂😂😂

you said you found the virus inconvenient more than anything

ok, so you didnt mean that.

Love2cycle · 14/03/2020 18:48

I kind of get where you are coming from. Life still goes on. People will still be born and still die from so, so many other causes. I can no longer be so focused on this, that the rest of my life starts to fall apart. Which I think is actually happening on a massive scale as well as for myself. I am at peace with the fact I could lose my mum, but I have been prepared for this for a few years now. I now need to focus on the areas of my life that have been neglected due to this wierd morbid obsession, so I still have them intact when this has all calmed down.

showgirl63 · 14/03/2020 18:49

Minor point - Branson pickle in short supply primarily because several pack formats pulled last week due to potential for plastic in packs rather than as a result of stockpiling.

Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 18:50

@Helmetbymidnight hmm...maybe not more than anything. Maybe more often than most things for me on a daily basis. Yeah it’s pretty inconvenient to have to wipe your arse with a sock and ask people to put down the rifle if I sneeze.

@showgirl63 yeah I read earlier. My bad jumping the gun but the idea is still quite amusing.

I’m taking this so seriously I had my first panic attack earlier (34 weeks preg, explains a lot). I feel mentally awful. But we need people like this OP making light of a really shit situ and moaning about her cancelled hol (which really is such a valid disapointment for so many millions of people) and empty shelves.
Why can’t she be light hearted about things, it’s really really bad in the real world at the moment, we don’t just need to be repeating that over and over again and saying we’re all gonna die. I find her attitude refreshing and am trying (and failing) myself to make a bit of light about a topic that I am finding really, really hard to cope with.

Helmetbymidnight · 14/03/2020 18:53

i think it was just a bad choice of phrase Flowers

we need a toilet roll emoji!

Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 18:54

@123456kent I am very very sorry to hear you are panicking and I can completely understand why. I would be in your situation, if you need anyone to chat too feel free to dm

I think that the fact that people are all different and come to this from different angles and have different reactions makes us interesting.

tobee · 14/03/2020 18:56

We need respite occasionally or we won't remember what we want to get back to do dearly.

Freezingold · 14/03/2020 18:57

Why can’t she be light hearted about things

No problem about anyone being lighthearted. Totally bored by the OP moaning on about her own inconveniences though when 21 families have had to cope with a loved one dying in the last few days. Sad

Discodisco2020 · 14/03/2020 18:57

I dread the negative impact this is having on our increasingly more anxious population, it is always a gonna be a disappointment having time off cancelled, whatever the reason! (On a bright note if I’m stuck indoors I’m gonna get my house organised Grin)

Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 19:03

@Freezingold if you are that bored why did you read this thread you nutter? 😂

Its very sad they've died. But neither of my parents made it to over age 80 - which is what most of the victims were. I'm NOT saying this means it doesnt matter, I'm saying that PLENTY of people's elderly relatives die on a daily basis and we arent scolded for talking about light hearted topics then are we? Unfortunately, when my mum died at age 60, the world still went on despite my deep grief. Neither did I get to be interviewed by the media about how sad I was feeling. I wish she had had the chance to live to age 80.

I'm heartbroken for the families of the people who died, but hundreds of people lose loved ones on a daily basis and they all go un-thought of and un-seen.

Starbuck8419 · 14/03/2020 19:04

@Discodisco2020 yes!! Good idea. Early spring clean. It’s not spring yet is it? all sense of days and months are lost

Sotiredofthislife · 14/03/2020 19:07

Wow. Without knowing a thing about me, my life, my responsibilities, you choose to laugh at me.

Last night I had to comfort my immunosuppressed child who is scared he is going to die. Process that for a minute before you laugh on my face and harp on about your health and your holiday.

Discodisco2020 · 14/03/2020 19:09

I wouldn’t be impressed with whoever/which ever means your child thinks they are going to die!
