I have been to London many times before. And I have never seen it so quiet on a sat. It is so empty.

We were supposed to be in London for the weekend but we're going home today. I don't feel right wandering around potentially spreading the virus. It was quiet in Soho last night.

I’m here for a wedding or I would not be here. But it is the quietest I have ever seen it.

I certainly wouldn't want to go there in these circumstances.

@thegiantgirl I think that's right! By the time the lockdown comes, everyone will actually be relieved that it's finally confirmed, or well-versed in isolating themselves.

Well everyone must be in my town on the south coast, it’s Absolutely heaving, more people than an August bank holiday.

The coffee shops are empty. Last time I was here I had to queue to get into the primark changing room and they were empty.

After having to commute in all week, most Londoners will be happy to stay local at the weekend.

I was in Covent Garden last week and it was heaving. Going to the theatre this pm so I wonder if it will be full.

IKEA in Ireland got rammed and they couldn't cope with all the amount of kids there , this is just after they shut the schools there, so people really weren't worried about germs

Meanwhile four coaches of idiots have turned up at my village. Because we don't have any cases so they'll be safe.

Two from Europe, one from London and one from Manchester.

You cannot move for the fucking idiots here.

My thoughts on this : Please, please, those of us living rurally who do not have the virus in our community and very few NHS resources left do not need you cancelling your fucking holidays elsewhere to sodding come here. I blame the people and sodding companies who're changing their destinations. Ffs.

I didn't say it. But it took a lot of effort every single time I heard someone say "we're safe here it's not like at home".

Just in case i need to say it; I've been told if I get it I won't survive so I'm very scared; even though I "look" fine.

Same on the holiday park I own a property on, South East coast. Reason I'm not convinced school closures are a good idea.

Becca I feel for you as we are in the same position.
Frankly I wish I was living in London. More hospitals, better care, a wider range of ages.
I am stunned by the selfishness and stupidity of so many people over this, that they can’t grasp the fact that we can all spread the virus unknowingly and so need to take care to protect the most vulnerable.
I have many friends locally over 70, I really do not want to lose them.

sirvix I know. I'm sorry. I also know our communities rely upon tourism BUT this needs to be stopped; don't get me started on the fact that rural communities in Wales, Scotland and Ireland can't access the hardship fund being set up for England.

I like to think I'd never actually act on my thoughts but I came bloody close today Blush

However, on Facebook companies have felt my wrath.
Yes I've ended up blocked but they need to THINK.

It was also very quiet in Bath yesterday, quite near to London I suppose. It is usually heaving on Fridays / Saturdays

Yes, I am also surprised I went into town today and it was quiet. I went to get my eyebrows shaped today and the girl who did it told me that yesterday every one of her appointments cancelled. She usually goes home at 8pm, yesterday she went at 1pm. I then went to the hairdressers and there were 2 other people having their hair done - usually Saturday is kind or organised chaos in there. Walking through a department store I actually went and chose my birthday present (for me!) because it was so quiet - and it's usually heaving! Diffiult times for businesses for sure.

Yes, I have long been worried about this communities over reliance on tourism. I didn’t know that about the Hardship Fund. This really is a nightmare for all of us, but some areas are particularly vulnerable and this needs to be addressed now.
