Guess how many days before I'll get my grocery delivery?

Eight days. Ordered today, first available delivery slot (Asda) is next Sunday the 22nd.
So out of bouldness, I ordered 18 rolls of toilet paper. That'll learn them.

About 2 weeks ago, you'd get the 'day after tomorrow' delivery.

I'm going to have to go shopping on foot tomorrow. Really annoying when you've to carry heavy stuff. That's really the only reason why I order online - I order heavy or bulky stuff online. I mostly shop in Lidl however. I can't believe everyone has gone mad ordering deliveries - how did they get their shopping prior to this? 2 days was MAX I needed to wait to get a slot.

I had an Amazon Fresh delivery booked for this morning and it didn't arrive, I got an email to say no one was available to take delivery - I was in the front room metres from the door and no one knocked. Angry

Now I don't know how to get all those items as Ocado is going into a meltdown and local shops are apparently empty - and I had ordered things like cat litter which is very difficult for me to get otherwise (no car and the nearest shops don't stock the brand we use).

plarkin · 14/03/2020 12:45

Ocado was in meltdown yesterday, the whole site went down and then just constant 'we are experiencing high volume' when clicking on the 'choose a delivery slot'....eventually I managed to book though soonest delivery was late afternoon Friday, so a week later....

If you’re trying humour ... at least use correct English ... but no I don’t find humour in panic buying ...

SapatSea · 14/03/2020 12:46

Ocado website still down today, can't see any information about my order at all. Will it be delivered? who knows??

Dongdingdong · 14/03/2020 12:47

I don't even need toilet paper lol. I just figured that since most of it was out of stock now it might get worse, so I had better get some in while I can....?

Disgraceful. Luckily Ocado have started limiting the amount of toilet roll you can buy to stop selfish gits like you.

This happened me once with Hermes. Except I saw the van drive up my road, down my road and got a text to say that I wasn't at home lol.
Never forgiven them.

It's called humour. Google it.

Splitting my sides over here - not Hmm

I wouldn't expect you to get it - but the 'incorrect' English, is the humour. You daft humourless twit.

Glad I read this normally I ordered the day or two before, just look, first available delivery Thursday!

Are a load of people who don't normally use home delivery suddenly using it. I use it every week only time it's this busy is Christmas.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 12:52

Dong - given that it takes 8 days to get a delivery, I'm not being disgusting. Disgusting would be NOT wiping me arse.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 12:53

MigGril - I last ordered about 10 days ago and usual timeline - day after tomorrow. This is a new thing.

Where did I use the word disgusting?

RedskyAtnight · 14/03/2020 12:53

I bet lots of people are prebooking slots as per posters on this thread.

I guess that's the online delivery equivalent of panic buying. I guess if/when we do end up with lots of people who are self isolating and therefore reliant on online shopping, supermarkets will have to clamp down on this.

Fatted · 14/03/2020 12:54

Plenty on Iceland round my way.

If you are desperate for toilet roll, my DH says there's lots in the shops in Flint if anyone wants a day out to Wales Grin

Reginabambina · 14/03/2020 12:54

Ocado have stopped bringing stuff inside and are not taking any new customers.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 12:54

Apologies Dong. I was getting my dissing wrong. Disgraceful. I'm a disgrace to the human race.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 12:56

I'm wondering whether people figure that ordering online will ensure their toilet rolls etc. which is why people who would ordinarily shop in person are now ordering for delivery?

plarkin · 14/03/2020 12:57

TBF in the context of not wiping your arse I think disgusting and disgraceful could be interchangeable...…..

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 12:59

I even have moist toilet tissues for that 'real clean feel' plarkin. I've a beautiful fragrant arse. Scent of aloe vera.

Wish I had a bidet though. Never got why it never caught on in the UK/Ireland. Every house has one on the continent.

I doubt it if their customers doing it are the usual loyal ones. I have had online deliveries every week for a very very long time and often prebook in advance. Nothing new in this household.

Stabbitha · 14/03/2020 13:09

I've never ever done an online food shop. I'm feel so old.

Mordred · 14/03/2020 13:09

The main reason for the shortage of toilet paper is that every time someone nearby coughs, people shit themselves.

Pppppickupapenguin · 14/03/2020 13:12

I never understood the need for scented toilet roll. I can feel the thrush from here.

On a side note, I always have my delivery slots booked as far ahead as Ocado will allow (around 3 weeks usually). I just looked and if I wasbooking today, it would be 8 days to get a slot.
