Guess how many days before I'll get my grocery delivery?

Eight days. Ordered today, first available delivery slot (Asda) is next Sunday the 22nd.
So out of bouldness, I ordered 18 rolls of toilet paper. That'll learn them.

About 2 weeks ago, you'd get the 'day after tomorrow' delivery.

It's reassuring to know that I'm surrounded by nice clean arseholes.

I've been to Asda, Tesco and Lidl today. No loo roll, boxes of tissues or even moist tissues at any, no hand soap bar or gel, no hand sanitiser, no pasta at all in Tesco or Asda and tins were down to the scraps.

Lidl had some pasta but bare, and I saw people arguing with checkout staff at 3 different checkouts about the 2 person rule. People in front of me were a group of 3 adults who had split their shopping so they had 2 lots of paracetamol and 2 lots of pasta each but all paid for by the same wallet.

It's absolutely Nucking Futs!

QuimReaper · 14/03/2020 13:19

Does anyone know how often Amazon Prime Now stock updates?

I just decided to do an order of pasta and loo roll in case it doesn't come on my next grocery shop and all the pasta and loo roll went out of stock whilst I was ordering! Shock

maa1992 · 14/03/2020 13:22

If you didn't need and you've ordered it anyway, that's contributing to the problem.

How is a person with mobility issues or in isolation going to get their toilet roll because you had a cob on over having to wait for a delivery and ordered so many?

Campervan69 · 14/03/2020 13:24

We got a completely full Tesco delivery yesterday except they'd upgraded our standard toilet roll to the posh stuff under the price match

Campervan69 · 14/03/2020 13:25

And before you all go mad it was our normal shop with our normal toilet roll order that we put in before all this Madness started

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 13:25

Because I look after meself first. Everyone else is clearly worrying about their own arses and not concerned about mine, so I will defend my right to order some toilet roll for myself!

I got an email recently about opening up Easter delivery slots early for paying delivery customers (tesco). Same thing happens at Christmas and yes I will be one of those sad individuals Wink who stays up till midnight to book in advance like I normally do.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 13:28

I got an email yesterday from Tescos saying that they were rationing some goods (can't think of exact wording), but I never really order from Tescos, so didn't pass much heed on it.

OP posts:
JeepersC · 14/03/2020 13:29

Exact wording is 'we may put some common-sense buying limits on certain products'

I just got a delivery and it's missing several items arggghhh
Noodles
pasta
toilet roll
bottles of water
black bags
chicken sausages substituted with pork we don't eat pork

looks like hubby's going to the shops later

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 13:31

It goes on to say 'as there may be more customers than normal booking deliveries, you may find that there aren't as many slots available, so its a good idea to try and book further ahead.'

OP posts:
JeepersC · 14/03/2020 13:32

Well everyone must surely have enough stock of loo roll at this stage. Unless some people are massively hoarding?

frasersmummy · 14/03/2020 13:36

Why is there still a shortage of toilet rolls?
I get it.. There was a panic
. Shops couldn't keep up
But there is nothing wrong with the supply chain so why is it still an issue

MaMisled · 14/03/2020 13:41

I've just bought 60 toilet rolls for £16.99 on Ebay. I can't find any in our local shops.

sudocremanglaise · 14/03/2020 13:41

I’m not sure I understand it. Are people ordering more frequently? Or have people who don’t usually order online now moved to online ordering? Ordering more doesn’t directly equate to more slots being taken - you just get more delivered in your slot. So why are they all going now?!

I had the same, I get an order every Friday and book the next week’s slot once this week’s has arrived. This time zero slots available until next week Saturday Confused I booked that, plus the week after got Friday, and will need to keep an eye on availability for now. I just want my usual grocery delivery, I’m not bulk buying pasta or toilet rolls or anything like that.

Carrie7469 · 14/03/2020 13:53

It must be regional. I’ve just booked an Asda delivery for Tuesday

itsgettingweird · 14/03/2020 16:07

Pots Shock my local newsagent has loads of Andrex . £2.99 for 9.

Runnerduck34 · 14/03/2020 16:48

Im finding this frustrating too! Normally order in a rush at 9:30pm to have it delivered next day, when i went to order last week there was a 4-5 day wait for delivery, tried several different online supermarkets and was exactly the same this week, waitrose had the earliest delivery slots with a 3 day wait. Its a bit like ordering around xmas, I think people are scheduling several shops , i.e booking in one a week for the next 3 weeks and then updating their basket at the last minute, and/or maybe lots more people are trying online shopping for the first time. Anyway as someone whose ordered online groceries for the past 20 years its peeing me off, i think I should get preferential deliveries as a long standing loyal customer 🤣

GreatWesternValkyrie · 14/03/2020 17:39

Uh oh. I had a text from Waitrose at 5pm to say they’d decided to bring forward the deadline for amending orders, so to make any changes by 6pm instead of the usual 11pm for deliveries tomorrow. I logged in to make a couple of changes (NOT to order 1million toilet rolls!) and the sodding app crashed midway through the re-check out!

App and website are now showing “planned maintenance” messages and aren’t working...doesn’t bode well for my delivery does it.

Back on topic, waiting times for deliveries here have gone up from next day to 4-5 days on Sainsbury and Waitrose but Sainsbury aren’t offering dates more than a weekend ahead it seems.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/03/2020 17:57

I've got a delivery booked on monday and secured slots for the following 2 weeks

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/03/2020 18:00

@JeepersC hrtft but if you order with asda you can go to the home page and have as many orders booked as you want within the 4 weeks.I put a £40 bottle of champagne on the order to secure then add my shopping nearer the time; a lot of people do it

littlecontis · 14/03/2020 18:09

I have placed an order larger than our average to be delivered on Monday. Trying to limit the delivery frequency to once fortnightly to free up a slot for someone else. We could possibly stretch to one order every three weeks if we plan our meals carefully with plenty of frozen veg and food.

Crunchymum · 14/03/2020 18:09

Is there a problem with Sainsburys website as I cannot see a single slot? I've looked all the way to April 3rd and not a thing.

Morrisons had a few random slots but no real selection of times for two whole weeks

I'm getting very fucked off now.

JeepersC · 14/03/2020 19:11

Crunchymum, perhaps everyone reading this thread went and frantically booked their orders?

It's certainly annoying as it's the usual way I shop for years. Now everyone is for some reason.
