Someone talk me down - new cough

I’ve had a tickly/ scratchy feeling in the back of my throat for a day or two. Tonight it’s developed into a horrid constant dry cough. I otherwise feel fine and don’t have a temperature or anything. I’m freaking myself about coronavirus. DH thinks I’m being daft so I can’t talk to him.

Hope you're ok OP

ukgift2016 · 14/03/2020 16:42

Let us know how it goes OP!

Mlou32 · 14/03/2020 17:12

@Sterristripoff I hope you're ok.

Exhaustedpidgeon · 14/03/2020 17:23

Mine started with a tickle throat, off dry cough. Now feel awful, can’t do anything but lie down. Cough becoming more persistent. Chest is tight. Still no temperature. Self isolate and if your symptoms worse call 111 given your medical histories

Exhaustedpidgeon · 14/03/2020 17:24

Sorry just realised I missed the update! Hope you feel better soon x

Pebbles574 · 14/03/2020 17:28

IF breathing is difficult, have you tried steam? Fill a sink with hot water and lean over with a towel covering you.
It really helps DH when he has asthma and gets a bit panicky.
A few drops of Vicks in the water too...

Same it could be coronavirus it might not
I read everyone that gets it gets pneumonia

Where did you read this? I don’t believe it’s true.

Lumene · 14/03/2020 17:32

Oh good luck OP

Apolloanddaphne · 14/03/2020 17:35

@Sterristripoff Hope you are starting to feel better now.

Schuyler · 14/03/2020 18:11

How are you feeling now? Flowers

HelpFlattenTheCurve · 14/03/2020 18:34

@Sterristripoff
In case you are still reading this, there is another article suggesting to use Paracetamol, but definitely not Ibuprofen, for the fever, in case it is COVID19. I separately was told recently by a respiratory consultant that anti inflammatories are not a good idea for patients COVID19.

Sterristripoff · 14/03/2020 18:47

Thanks everyone. I’m in a private room in hospital. Had a load of tests done. My oxygen levels are 92 which doesn’t sound that bad. Main concern is my heart rate. (It tends to beat fast anyway).

Sterristripoff · 14/03/2020 18:49

Has been stressed to me there are plenty of respiratory illnesses doing the rounds so not necessarily the dreaded coronavirus. The area I live in has hardly any cases/ I haven’t been abroad/ no contact with anyone positive. So another nasty more common virus much more likely.

incognitomum · 14/03/2020 19:00

I hope it's not Covid 19 and you get well soon Flowers

Oxyiz · 14/03/2020 20:00

Glad they're looking after you. A private room sounds good. (Relatively speaking).

chatterbugmegastar · 14/03/2020 20:22

Sending you love and good wishes

Jackrusselsarecute · 14/03/2020 20:46

Anywaythewindisblowing · 15/03/2020 19:49

How are you today OP?

Oxyiz · 17/03/2020 19:41

Hope you're on the mend by now OP. I know you're just a stranger on the internet but I keep thinking about you. I hope its getting a bit better now Flowers

WreckTangle95 · 17/03/2020 19:46

Did you get the results OP? Hope you are on the mend!

Sterristripoff · 17/03/2020 21:09

I’ve been tested. No results yet. Still in hospital because my oxygen level is low. I’m completely panicking but no it won’t help.
