Someone talk me down - new cough

Sterristripoff · 12/03/2020 22:03

I’ve had a tickly/ scratchy feeling in the back of my throat for a day or two. Tonight it’s developed into a horrid constant dry cough. I otherwise feel fine and don’t have a temperature or anything. I’m freaking myself about coronavirus. DH thinks I’m being daft so I can’t talk to him.

I was under the impression the temperature came first with corona?

Also it’s the season of the cough, it could be nothing at all!

Try not to worry unduly but fo be vigilant.

puds11 · 12/03/2020 22:06

Do not fo Hmm

ihaveaquestionplease · 12/03/2020 22:07

I have a new, dry cough too. Temperature is only 0.5 degrees raised.
Having to stay at home though as per government advice.

ColaFreezePop · 12/03/2020 22:07

You don't have covid-19 but you do have to self isolate for 7 days.

Oh and stay 2 metres away from your DH, you need to sleep somewhere else and use another bathroom. If you only have one bathroom you have to clean it after every use.

pelirocco123 · 12/03/2020 22:07

You do realise it ,even if you have the virus the chances of it being serious for you are low ?

Flamingnora2020 · 12/03/2020 22:09

To reassure you, I think around 96% of Covid 19 patients have a temp.

eeeyoresmiles · 12/03/2020 22:09

Don't freak, stress won't help! You're more likely to be fine than not fine, if it is. For now I'd drink lots of water and get an early night and look after yourself. You do need to stay home now so are you all sorted for that?

Sterristripoff · 12/03/2020 22:10

pelirocco123 I have a heart condition & my DC has respiratory problems. (He was born very prematurely). If it is coronavirus it could get very bad for us.

Did op state her age or any underlying health conditions?

LowcaAndroidow · 12/03/2020 22:11

You'll almost certainly be fine.

Isolate yourself from your other family members and get sorted for 7 days at home.

DesdemonaDryEyes · 12/03/2020 22:12

When you say clean the bathroom ...

Sterristripoff · 12/03/2020 22:15

eeeyoresmiles yes I’ve isolated myself to the spare bedroom. Not sure whether my DP and DC need to also isolate? If it is coronavirus it seems pointless to let them go on spreading it in work and nursery.

My work have told me to work from home for the next 2 weeks.

Feel worse this morning. Everything hurts. Sad

OP posts:
DoubleAction · 13/03/2020 07:05

Current advice is that the rest of the household do not have to self isolate unless they have symptoms

Kmx123 · 13/03/2020 07:30

Same it could be coronavirus it might not
I read everyone that gets it gets pneumonia
1 in 6 will need hospital treatment
And around 150 00 if not more will need life support / ventilation there is only 4,000 beds

Daffie19 · 13/03/2020 07:47

Mine started like that, I soon had a temp of 39.9 that's only coming down to 38 something.
Now I feel Fluey, chesty, cough, headaches.

Spoke to doctor over the phone as wouldn't give me face to face with my symptoms.
He said it could just be chest infection, could be a type of the CV flu...

I've got antibiotics for 5 days and I'm self isolating for 7 days or until symptoms have gone.

They won't swab me, Even though I'm front line nursing staff!!

Sterristripoff · 13/03/2020 16:24

At what point do you know if you need medical help? I’ve been on the phone with 111 and can’t get through. It hurts so much to breathe. Like something heavy is on my chest. My temperature is 39.8 and isn’t coming down with paracetamol/ ibuprofen and I can’t stop coughing. I’m getting much more worried now. Sad

OP posts:
IamHyouweegobshite · 13/03/2020 16:31

Keep trying 111, esp as you have underlying health conditions. Wish you well soon.

Sterristripoff · 13/03/2020 16:34

IamHyouweegobshite I’ve been trying all afternoon. I don’t know what else to do, I’m so panicked.

OP posts:
Northernsoullover · 13/03/2020 16:37

Oh bless you. I know what it feels like to be panicked. You do need to keep trying 111.

Daffie19 · 13/03/2020 16:45

Can u call your docs for emergency telephone consultation.
Otherwise, I think if you're really struggling to breathe, maybe you need admitting to hospital. Then they will swab you, they are only swabbing people admitted with respiratory problems.

Im feeling the same tbh, 2 days of high temp 39.9 now its 38 today, and I'm not so bad breathing wise today, so I am getting slightly better, but is a worry!

Sterristripoff · 13/03/2020 17:12

GP have prescribed me antibiotics over the phone (DP is going to pick those up). Not sure how they will help a virus?

He said I need to keep trying 111.

OP posts:
Sterristripoff · 13/03/2020 17:14

Daffie19 I don’t know how to get to the admitted to hospital phase. I can’t turn up to A&E or GP. 111 aren’t answering.

OP posts:
Reginabambina · 13/03/2020 17:17

Antibiotics help if you have a lung infection. Self isolation is the best thing you can do, your children and husband should also isolate. If you have difficulty breathing call 999 as you ordinarily would do in that situation. I hope you’re feeling better soon Flowers

MyDcAreMarvel · 13/03/2020 17:18

If it gets worse ring 999 tell them you have breathing difficulties suspected corona. Or get your dh to drive you to A and E and wait in the car while he goes in so they can put you straight in an isolation room.
