I missed the Wales update. I struggle to keep up on these threads at all - especially when I am supposed to be doing other things!

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:12

Sunshine I totally agree with you.

I do think that they should formally allow children to be temporarily withdrawn from school if parents wish to, though I think the difficulty is that if they agree to that, are they obliged to provide work for them? Which wouldn't be at all fair on teachers.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 12/03/2020 14:12

We are supposed to be going to a caravan holiday tomorrow and don't know what to do. Sad

Sunshinesky1981 · 12/03/2020 14:13

That's a massive Jump in Scotland Sad

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:13

OK lentil, I will bow down to your superiority as me disagreeing with you clearly means I have no clue Grin

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 14:14

Okay so trust the Government even though WHO and multiple other experts are saying they are wrong. And in spite of the fact that literally no other country is totally ignoring WHOs advice like we are.

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:14

Jemima, I am not in England either and definitely care about Scotlands numbers! That is a very concerning jump.

MetalDog · 12/03/2020 14:14

For anyone interested in reading it here is the British science.

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 14:15

They won't have any choice soon but to let parents withdraw kids from school as so many teachers will be off sick.

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:15

Allout, it is ok for some people to not blindly agree with the majority on here, yeh?

MetalDog · 12/03/2020 14:15

Sorry I should add the link is from the UK Action Plan!

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:16

Now that I agree with, I definitely think some schools will be forced to close regardless. Ours has today emailed us to advice of the cancellation of a lot of school events, school plays etc.

NBA players Rudy Gobert mocked the coronavirus by touching reporters’ mics and phones.

Then he tested positive. t.co/Av6d3GtTFr

The WHO advise countries based on what scientists are telling them, must be different scientists to the ones Boris listens to. Hmm

NewYearNewTwatName · 12/03/2020 14:17

just acknowledging that we don't know they are wrong

Without scientific evidence No one can judge.

But we can look at the scientific evidence that is readly available and advised by the World Health Organisation, and other virul experts.

Furfockssake · 12/03/2020 14:17

I haven’t been able to read much today and news doesn’t seem to be saying anything new - has the cobra meeting finished? Or have I somehow missed the outcome of it?

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:17

Two new cases just in NI.

Helenj1977 · 12/03/2020 14:17

BBC says they're just going into the meeting. Will they make us wait for the figures until their done??

letsjog · 12/03/2020 14:17

I have some friends in Poland who only has 47 cases as of today and 1 death.

As of today they have shut all schools/nurseries/cinemas/museums etc with the official 14 day quarantine starting from Monday and advised that unless it's vital the elderly should avoid going outside.
Testing at airports and people being pulled straight into quarantine.
Closed its up until now open borders and enforced strict checks.

There are also some sort of financial provisions in place in order to assist people loosing out on income due to having to stay at home with DCs.
Advice is to not send kids to any out of school or sports clubs either, school work has been assigned to complete at home.

I wonder if they're doing it right.

Random18 · 12/03/2020 14:18

Shetland is quite concerning. 6 there. I was pretty shocked by that!!

LarryDuff · 12/03/2020 14:18

no numbers released for England yet? It's usually on here before anywhere else

Number12 · 12/03/2020 14:19

350k have signed the government petition to close schools, will that number add pressure?

KarenTookTheKids · 12/03/2020 14:19

NewYear, a virologist from Cambridge university and the NI chief medical Officer both were on the radio this morning to say there is no evidence to support closing schools. Are they not experts?
