We could shut down and say ‘everyone stay home’ and wreck the economy, drive small business bankrupt, cause untold financial harm to millions of families, stop Children’s education including those working for exams, make it difficult for health workers to carry out their jobs due to caring responsibilities, cause more panic buying, limit food production and distribution, etc. for a disease currently infecting 0.0006% of the population. It may be necessary at some point but you don’t initiate that level of distruption and harm too soon.

I would love to know why she started showing symptoms 5 days ago and yet up to 2 days ago she has been out and about shaking hands with folk and stuff. How about taking your own advice re self isolation?!

mylittlewoodenword · 11/03/2020 11:11

The economy is going to go bad regardless you ca rebuild it with healthy or ill citizens. If you believe that the virus would go kind on UK you are mistaken. The country that isolated the cases has a lower death rate than the one that let it go free.

@coconuttelegraph there's a whole thread on mn about what your school is doing by teachers....it's worrying reading!! And also it's both secondary schools I have kids in not the one! Another Local secondary has a case and hasn't even been shit for cleaning.

lumpy76 · 11/03/2020 12:13

*shut 🤦🏽‍♀️

lumpy76 · 11/03/2020 12:14

Although I would hasten a guess that that's the level of hygiene in our schools!

Piggywaspushed · 11/03/2020 18:21

It's emerged that Nad's first statement dropped her in it, as she said she began feeling unwell last Thursday (presumably to excuse whay she was out and about shaking hands and schmoozing). Her constituents (this in itself is a turn up for the books!) then pointed out she was meeting them on Friday...

She now says she began feeling ill on Saturday.

RoseAndRose · 11/03/2020 18:44

The confusion about the time line is unfortunate.

Though what was the advice at the end of last week about need to distance /isolate yourself if you have any respiratory symptoms, but no known exposure?

Piggywaspushed · 11/03/2020 18:48

Not sure what her exposure was . I know there are skiers in her family. Shouldn't conjecture but the guess is her ill staffer is her DD.

PigletJohn · 11/03/2020 19:31

"I have children in 2 different secondary schools. They've not even had a notice to wash hands"

did the school tell you that, or was it the children?

Luckily you've already trained them in handwashing.

My first thought was this is Nadine Dorris - loves publicity. Then thought don’t be ridiculous.

Does sound as if she has been likely to have infected quite a few.
