I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

This is a good thread. I hope I can make a joke-it’s my daughters bday today and she’s having a tea. I’m glad actually it’s just family coming and that I didn’t organise a huge do.
Anyway the theme is aliens and I’m a bit concerned the home made decorations look a bit like viruses...

dappledsunshine · 15/03/2020 10:57

Siam I love your viruses aliens 😂

purpleme12 · 15/03/2020 10:58

@CaveMum thank you for that. It does make me feel better (with everyone saying they're doing the wrong thing)

Daren't post it on Facebook cos one of the people on there will probably think I'm being a traitor to what should be done and start commenting and arguing

Siameasy · 15/03/2020 11:03

Thank you they are very cute and we have a cake with eyes on also looking viral

madeyemoodysmum · 15/03/2020 11:35

CALMON. That's adorable. Try not to stress. Keep safe dont take unnecessary risk . X

Millie2013 · 15/03/2020 12:54

Millie2013 · 15/03/2020 13:02

Wandered even...

magimedi · 15/03/2020 13:13

I won't give you a slap - I'll just post a funny pic of stockpiling............

Just been to visit my mum, she's 86 in a care home with dementia. I thought long and hard about whether to visit or not but I figured that over this coming week the home may change their stance on visiting at all, and as days go by the chance of me coming into contact with the virus go up.

So I called in for 20 minutes, sat in a chair with a couple of feet space between us and we had hot chocolate. Mum seemed happy and relaxed and in the other room one of the carers was doing a little quiz for some of the other residents. If I don't get to go again for the next few weeks I know she's happy and being well cared for .

Millie2013 · 15/03/2020 13:34

😂 Oxo tower
Aww, Shiny, I’m pleased you got to see her

OH is stockpiling vimto, he bought two bottles, instead of his usual one Grin

I’m making earrings (note to self, get some reading glasses)

Alsohuman · 15/03/2020 13:39

So glad you went, shiny, that must have made you feel better.

That picture made me think of Terry Wogan and “being taken up the Oxo Tower”, it made the (easily amused) bloke cry with laughter.

AutumnRose1 · 15/03/2020 13:40

good that people are seeing their mums!

That Terry Wogan joke would make some of my friends howl with laughter.

I posted a virtual slapping gif the other day - I've found another one with Sylvester the cat, but it says "idiot" so I don't want to use it.

who knew there was a shortage of slapping gifs? Grin

AutumnRose1 · 15/03/2020 13:41

oh, and the first time I got taken up the Gherkin, blimey!

Millie2013 · 15/03/2020 13:46

To be fair, I am a bit of an idiot to venture off this thread 😂

AutumnRose1 · 15/03/2020 13:50

Okay, Millie, just for you to have a laugh

@mortyfide - I don’t miss the puppy phase, it was exhausting, so I feel for you! I, too, thought “what the hell have I done?”

You probably know this, having had one already, but best advice I had was take them out ALL the time - as soon as they wake up from a nap, as soon as they’ve had a mad 5 mins of play/excitement, as soon as they’ve had a drink etc etc etc. They have zero bladder control so best to just keep taking them outside. I used a slip lead (only for toilet training, not for walks) as is so quick to put on. I’d take her to the same spot in the garden and just milk around until she went. I used the phrase “be quick” as soon as she started to go, and had super tasty treats ready in my pocket for when she finished - with loads of praise. Now, I just open the back door, say “be quick” and she trots off to do her business.

Luckily she was tiny then, wouldn’t have fancied clearing up a mess indoors from her at this size!

Here’s something everyone can enjoy, even if you didn’t watch the show

Alsohuman · 15/03/2020 14:17

We did the same Furries, it was “Have a wee” in our case. She’s eight months and goes on demand now.

Alsohuman · 15/03/2020 14:17

Command even!!

Arcadia · 15/03/2020 15:39

I've just deleted the news app on my phone! I keep clicking on it without thinking about what I was doing.

PineappleDanish · 15/03/2020 15:50

I am feeling positive today. I have made the decision not to take any more of the antidepressants which the GP prescribed - i've only taken 3 - as the side effects just aren't worth it. Have booked myself onto the waiting list for CBT, just been out for a walk in the sunshine with DH and the birds are tweeting outside the window.

We'll get through this.
