I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

I've been swinging between panic and trying to stay calm this week but today I did some calculations and even the 460 cases is 1.7% of everyone tested. And 8 deaths is 1.7% of that, which I know is not good but % are still quite small.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 20:21

Yes, a small percentage. And a small percentage of people sadly die from flu unfortunately.

I'm focusing on what i am doing day to day. Tomorrow I have a yoga class. Going to make sure I go, it helps me.

Has anyone else any plans for the next few days, things you enjoy to take your mind off stuff perhaps?

Millie2013 · 11/03/2020 20:23

Popping in, as I am sick of the negative drama llamaing

OH works in a hospital and is immunosuppressed (the hospital has at least one case), I work in 2 different hospitals and in the community and I'm refusing to let it drive me crazy

I've stopped watching the news, I've had BBC2 on in the background in the mornings, instead of BBC1 (I might stick with this)

My friend is self isolating, as she's is a suspected case and a very mild one (she's not local to me). She's showed off her impressive isolation stash on facebook, which consists of approx 60% gin.... I was about to add that she's in very good spirits, but....

HonestlyItsFine · 11/03/2020 20:29

I'm reassured by the small amount of positives. They are swabbing much bigger numbers of people now. It might indicate that it'snot spreading like wildfire as the media would have us believe.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 20:30

I thought I saw something in the guidance from WHO about how to deal with it etc and it did say something about people turning to drink, i can kind of understand that! Especially when in isolation. I can imagine Dh doing that too. (he is also immunocompromised too).

I am hoping we don't have to isolate together or he would rive me mad, i would definitely have to turn to drink also!

DameXanaduBramble · 11/03/2020 20:31

Stick around @millie2013 - this thread is a real tonic

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 20:35

I have an idea, let'c chat about stuff we would like to do if we had to stay home (in isolation).

What would you have in your 'isolation pack' if you made one? What kind of stuff would you do to keep sane?

I read about someone doing tai chi which helped them.

I'd maybe read some books and listen to BBC sounds, podcasts, that kind of thing.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 20:36

Oh no just realised that sounded like 'prepping'. I don't mean mad bunkers and things. Just self care stuff.

purpleme12 · 11/03/2020 20:38

I would read my magazine (when my child is in bed!)
I haven't had time to read for the last month!

PineappleDanish · 11/03/2020 20:39

I have enough knitting yarn for ALL of you. I'll set up a youtube channel and have you all churning out scarves, jumpers and everything else.

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 20:40

Alsohuman Gladys is soooooooooooo gorgeous.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 20:40

I'd have a nice bath with my aromatherapy bath foam. Light a candle.

Riv12345 · 11/03/2020 20:40

My DH likes to hear about it on the news,
I just said going for a bath wnt be long, I cnt keep hearing about it, makes me worry

Canshopwillshop · 11/03/2020 20:41

@Alsohuman - she’s so cute!

Bloodybackpain · 11/03/2020 20:42

Today has been up and down to me. I’ve made the positive decision to work at home for the next week or so so that has made me feel better about not commuting into London. Some other crappy work stuff came to a head - not actually in a good way but at least I know what’s happening there.

Celeb GBBO is making me happy.

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 20:46

Yes, she’s a little beauty. I had no idea it was possible to love a little dog so much. If we had to stay in I’d spend a lot of time cuddling her.

Flyingpurplepeopleeater · 11/03/2020 20:50

I think I need to go out for a run tomorrow as I'm sure that keeps me generally more calm.

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 20:53

Alsohuman I have a neighbour who thinks any dog is a deterrent for burglars. Be interested to know what your thoughts are.

Millie2013 · 11/03/2020 20:53

If I were self isolating, I'd

  • Read the pile of books I've been stashing since DD was born (7 flipping years ago!)
  • Go through my cookery books and try some new recipes and bookmark others
  • De-clutter the entire house- nothing would be safe :D
  • Maybe do some family history stuff
  • Sort out old photos and digital photos
-watch some old box sets, Like Ashes to Ashes
  • Ride DPony (I think she thinks she's retired, the lazy bugger!)

(in reality, I'd still have to work, but I'd zoom through my work with so few distractions!)

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 20:56

She’d lick a burglar to death AutumnRose1!

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 20:57

Also that’s what I thought! My neighbour reckons any dog will bark if someone is trying to get in.

MrsP2015 · 11/03/2020 21:03

Canshop
Thank you for sharing that update.

Roussette · 11/03/2020 21:06

Gladys is sooooooo sweet!

chatterbugmegastar · 11/03/2020 21:09

@Hedgehog26 - what's your first favourite video? LOVED the panda!

Canshopwillshop · 11/03/2020 21:10

So, if we had to isolate, I would -
Sort out photo albums/make photo books online
Sort out DC’s school year books
Cook lots of nice food
Watch Netflix
Play board games with DS
Have pamper sessions with DD
Drink wine with DH
