I hope that RapidRainbow does not mind me starting Part II of the thread - if you do let me know & I'll ask for it to be deleted.

It would just be a shame to not carry on as this is such a positive place.

Part I is here:

Just checking in for the evening. Got back from my local Tesco’s and the empty pasta etc sections freaked me out a bit. Logical brain says there was tonnes of other food there, I can cope a few weeks without spaghetti Bol. Anxiety brain made it all seem more real.

Tbh I’ve got a few other things coming up than I’m worried about and I think it’s all manifesting as Coronavirus worries.

If people could post lots of things to take my mind off it this evening I’d be happy, maybe lots of puppy pictures.

I did go through my twitter account yesterday and find more light hearted accounts and unfollowed news ones

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 18:24

Here you go @Hedgehog96. How cute is that?

@AutumnRose1 - did you see my earlier post about steroid inhalers?

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 18:31

Canshop- no, I’ve been offline for a bit.

Spacecadetagain · 11/03/2020 18:34

Some good news for the day . My friend had a baby today by c section and her text with a photo of her brand new baby girl was just what I needed today

Canshopwillshop · 11/03/2020 18:55

@AutumnRose1 - here you go 😊

**For anyone who has a child who is asthmatic, I just thought I’d let you know about the conversation I had with my Dr last night. She called me because DD (15) was due an asthma review. She wanted to check how DD was and if she’s using her inhalers (brown preventer and blue reliever).

I asked her 2 things - firstly is DD more at risk of CV with her asthma and secondly, did the steroids in her brown inhaler mean her immune system was weaker. She was reassuring on both and said that children and young teens are generally getting mild cases/no symptoms and there has not been any evidence so far of different outcomes for children with asthma compared to those without.

In reply to the steroids she said that the immune system is only affected when you are on high doses and that the levels in the brown inhaler are not significant enough to affect it. She emphasised the importance of taking the brown inhaler regularly to keep asthma under control and also said to make sure I have enough blue inhalers in the house just in case.**

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 19:02

Can thank you.

Tbh I hadn’t even bothered thinking beyond knowing I’m high risk. For a minute there, I got worried in case there was some problem with me using my inhalers.

I have two blue ones as the doc likes me to have one by the bed and one in my bag so I don’t forget it going out. I’ve been told not all docs are this conscientious and only allow one which seems poor form.

Talking of panic buying, I saw a man with a trolley that has nothing but 20+ tubes of Pringles in it - 2 different flavours.

We saw a guy in Tesco with 20 packets of celery and nothing else. Weirdo. Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 19:12

Nice story here about a group of young Cadets volunteering to help people self isolating www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-51821470

ScarlettDarling · 11/03/2020 19:13

Well, I've been shopping today to Asda, Lidl and Home bargains and was happy to see masses of loo rolls on the shelves, plenty of hand soap and lots of pasta (just not the cheap own brand stuff I'd normally buy!)

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 19:16

Alsohuman I love that pup’s tail.

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 19:17

He’s adorable, isn’t he?

Emmapeeler1 · 11/03/2020 19:24

Thank you for the information about asthma which I have been worrying about (DD and I have it).

I just need to make sure we have enough inhalers.

I run a film night, and the other night so bought a job lot of crisps and popcorn in the co-op. The lady on the counter said it made a change from hand wash Smile

MinesaPinot · 11/03/2020 19:36

Hedgehog26 I found that pictures of baby pandas calmed me down when I was in the grip of a severe health anxiety attack. Or the video online of the cheeky pandas and their keeper - fab stuff!

shinynewapple2020 · 11/03/2020 19:48

@alsohuman is it a baby Jack Russel? Is he your's ? How old and what's his name?

Orangeblossom78 · 11/03/2020 19:48

Just to mention in case anyone needs it, there is a lovely chat room by Mind called Elefriends as well as here online - really nice and caring and moderated by Mind, for people with anxiety and other MH problems. It is really supportive and sometimes good to chat on there at night if awake etc.

AutumnRose1 · 11/03/2020 19:49

I also wondered if the dg was a Jack Russell but I’m clueless about dogs.

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 19:52

Yes, he’s a Jack Russell, not mine though. Would you like to see mine?

Hedgehog26 · 11/03/2020 19:56

@Alsohuman he is so cute! Is he yours?

@MinesaPinot I’ll try that later. Have you seen the video of the baby panda that sneezes? It’s my second favourite ever YouTube video

Link for anyone that hasn’t seen it m.youtube.com/watch?v=93hq0YU3Gqk

And this little guy is my favourite

@motherrunner people on this thread are recommending to hide the rest of the CV topic on here and to not keep looking at news updates. I don't know if you have read the full thread with the positive look at the data - i.e if you look at the stats properly you only have a really. Really small chance of catching it and are even less likely to be seriously ill. I find it helpful to see the other side of what the data is saying. There are a few posts with links about this.

shinynewapple2020 · 11/03/2020 20:00

@alsohuman yes please Smile

Canshopwillshop · 11/03/2020 20:11

@Alsohuman - yes please!

HonestlyItsFine · 11/03/2020 20:14

I found turning the new cases today into a percentage really helped.
the jump is 19%. Bigger than we'd have liked maybe.
The news today has made me nervous, glad I have this thread.

Alsohuman · 11/03/2020 20:15

This is Gladys.
