Has Trump ever read the ten commandments? Perhaps he skips over the "nots".

"Hell will reign"

"Hell will reign"

He needs to thank Aljareeza news. They corrected 'reign' to 'rain' in their report, to save his face.

I missed that.

It would be funny if it wasn't so bloody depressing.

Do you believe what the IRGC say @AmberTigerEyes @Golden407 ?

They are a proscribed terrorist organisation in many, many countries and only not the UK because of some legal difficulty which the UK are working on, in order to be able to proscribe the IRGC.

Iran are the only people who would want to bomb Kuwait, as retaliation for them allowing missiles to be sent from US bases.

Iran is a proscribed terrorist country in countries aligned with the United States, if the United States wanted Norway designated a terrorist country most countries aligned with the USA would happily oblige.
Ultimately I give exactly the same credence to statements from the IRGC as I do to statements from Israel and the USA.

FOJN · 04/04/2026 17:56

The pair of them are utterly demented.

They have been moving A10's to the ME this week which suggests they might be preparing for a ground invasion. They're both insane enough. I can't decide if Hegseth is purging dissenters in the military or they are resigning because they don't want to be associated with whatever is coming next.

I suspect the A10s are for drones. They have low sped and long loiter time, and a gun. So better than fast jets. And Patriot interceptors are running low. So pressing old tech into new use ?

We have seen from the pilot rescue that they are still vulnerable over the battlefield.

Careful now - last time someone mentioned Bingo cards re predictable things people would say, it caused a huge amount of outrage on Mumsnet.

Maybe you're on safer grounds with the Iran war than the Gaza war but I don't know.

I have no idea what you mean. It's just a turn of phrase. I was not expecting Trump to make it so blatantly Religious.

On the desalination plants. Any thoughts on the binary or non binary thing with what the law says ? And the ethics too of plumbing a military base into a civilian supply (if that is the case). And we can also throw in the billeting of troops in hotels too.

Because they are all interconnected and I think they should all be considered and thought about if one is to avoid "double standards". Or giving the impression of ?

I have limited web, but I have found that the US military does have its own desalination plants available. From a commercial website:

"Since that time, we’ve evolved into the leading provider of water purifiers and water purification technologies to the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force., and U.S. Navy."

So really no need for the hotels ? Depending on logistics and location of bases of course.

It does appear to be a complex issue.

Do you think the EU have got it wrong? Here’s the reason for proscription.

Speaking in Brussels on Thursday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot described it as "the most violent repression in Iran's modern history" and said there could be "no impunity for the crimes committed".

I have argued that some IDF actions are proportionate.

Not everything they have done.

Every situation is different and nuanced so it's not just a case of "being consistent."

Attacking water desalination plants is wrong whether done by Iran, Israel or the US because everyone has the right to water. Plus the Kuwait site was not a military site or a site built on top of a military command centre or a site with terrorists hiding in tunnels underneath, it's just a desalination plant.

Perhaps Iran thought there were US troops in the confines of the 'plant?

After all, that seems to be the "get out" for the IDF.

Everyone should have the right to water, including the Gazans, yet no condemnation during the last 3 years as the IDF destroyed almost all of Gaza's desalination and sewage treatment plants.

There is an awful lot of hypocrisy on this thread.

Twiglets1 · 05/04/2026 07:16

The Iranian regime must have felt they didn't have enough enemies so wanted to make some new ones in the ME during this war.

If that was the goal, well done.

Notonthestairs · 05/04/2026 07:23

The war was started by Israel and the US.
It’s a war of choice.
I don’t think their ME partners will have forgotten that.

Notonthestairs · 05/04/2026 07:24

That’s good FOJN.

Reported by Sky 3 hours ago - more Iranian drones hit Kuwaiti power and desalination plants

Two power and water desalination plants have been struck in Kuwait by Iranian drones.

"This resulted in significant material damage and the shutdown of two power generation units," the Ministry of Electricity, Water & Renewable Energy said in a statement posted on X.

No one was injured.

"Technical teams are working around the clock to ensure the continuity of services," the statement added.

According to an Analyst on World Service, the Iranian aim is not to make more enemies but to increase the world economic shock.

Which from their POV is totally understandable.

It's just a terrible indictment on Netanyahu (tbh he wouldn't care) and Trump that this wasn't considered pre attack.

DublinFemale · 05/04/2026 08:06

Iran is denying the attack and Israel has form for committing false flag attack.

If it is true that America hit an Iranian desalination plant in March

An attack in a desalination plant in a country which has American military was to be expected, it is retaliation.

We have heard over and over again Izrael
is allowed to defend itself. The same policy should stand for Iran or any other country arbitrarily attacked.

I guess how this could be interpreted is if America struck first then any retaliation is defending itself.

Increasing the world economic shock? Totally understandable and no judgement for that.

Ok Dublin but let’s see if you still think any retaliation is ok if Trump carries out his threats re retaliation for the closing of the Straight of H.

Iran chose to do that and apparently any retaliation is ok to the aggressor 🤷🏼‍♀️

Islandsofsand · 05/04/2026 08:35

Let’s hope that Iran is not crazy enough systematically destroy another country’s people access to fresh drinking water. It would cause a humanitarian and refugee crisis.

That people can argue it’s proportionate for any country to do it or even threaten it is mind boggling.

DublinFemale · 05/04/2026 08:37

@Twiglets1

Ihave absolutely no skin in the game and that is exactly what this is a game of who is more powerful.

I will still celebrate a religious holiday with my family today. I will go to work, I will continue to live my life without wondering if a bomb will land.

That is luxury that millions of innocent civilians do not have in the ME today, tomorrow or next week.

And it is a direct result of bombs dropping on Iran

https://www.britannica.com/event/2026-Iran-war

which if to believe Trump killed the Supreme Leader and his son has taken his place, along with a tomahawk on a girls school.

This is entirely on Netanyahu and Trump.

For Iran to win the regime needs to remain and Harmuz stay under their control. Economic warfare will inflect great damage.

I cannot see a way out without risking 100,000’s of life in a ground invasion.

Hormuz was open 5 weeks ago... no drone attacks on Kuwait.... what changed all of that?

Why wasn't it considered? probably because Trump and his lackies had never heard of it....

Iran has been told it will be bombed back to the "Stone Age" they will do all they can to maximise the negative impacts of this.

As for seeing things from Irans POV.... "Know ones enemy" and it was an independent analyst who thinks this, as do many other economic and military experts.

You may not be unduly impacted by his war but billions of people around the world will be, crop yields, fuel shortages & if it carries on (as it looks like it will be) Travel disruption, economic depression in many countries.. and mass movement of peoples heading for Europe and the UK....

....and thats before we get to loss of innocent lives in the region and the destruction of one of the worlds oldest civilisations.

DublinFemale · 05/04/2026 08:45

i only really have one question which no-one defending either side is willing to answer.

@Twiglets1will you answer my question How many dead men, women and children will it take to satisfy the blood lust for all defending either side. What is the magic number?

I want all the killing to stop, all of it. I do not care what nationality, religion, skin colour. I want (in this instance) men making decisions who are safely away from any danger to stop escalating and deliberately killing more people.

This is a war that should never have started, the people who did this should be in the Hague but never will.

The casual dismissal of human life is quite incredible, even school children, is just a price to be paid by others... a "mistake" an "accident" "regrettable" "there will be a investigation..."

Meanwhile more and more innocent people will die, cheered on by many.

@Alexandra2001

i can’t find a link but I have vague recollection of reading somewhere Trump was aware but didn’t believe Iran would actually close it.

This is despite Iran threatening to do just that previously.

the Strait has never closed but obviously realised just how much damage closing it will cause.

Economic damage may be the deciding factors in this war rather than brute strength.

No I don’t attempt to answer ridiculous questions.

I would like the killing to stop too. This whole thing was triggered by Hamas attacking Israel on 7/10/23. Funded by Iran. Look what that has led to.

“look what you made me do” said by Hamas, said by Israel, said by Iran, said by Hezbollah, said by the Houthis, said by the US.

If I could make it all stop right now then obviously I would.
