Should the international community sanction Israel over settler violence in West Bank?

The problem of Israeli terrorism is getting worse and worse. Just over the past few weeks amongst other things Israeli terrorists have killed multiple people, commited sexual assault, beaten and threatened to rape young Palestinian girls, continually attacked the residents and property of the only remaining fully Christian town in the West Bank, stolen 100s of sheep from the Bedouin community, beaten activists who are there to provide a protective presence to Palestinians, set fire to property.

Palestinians don't have the right to defend themselves from this violent, rapidly escalating Israeli terrorism. They can't arrest and detain the Israeli terrorists. They are sitting ducks with no means of protecting themselves from beatings and sexual violence. Is it time that the international community steps in and sanctions Israel until they can control their obvious terrorism problem? What else can be done to try and protect innocent people from this escalating Israeli violence?

What is the issue with Jordan when it is THE Palestinian State, and Palestinians are refugees living in refugee camps while under 'occupation' by Israel?

Why just Jordan. They're Arabs so could go anywhere. Jesus. Every Jordanian Palestinian who are descendants of Palestinians who were driven out of their villages during the Nakba still class themselves as Palestinian, not Jordanian. That is the only passport they are allowed because Israel will not allow them to live on the land they belong to. I have had to rewrite this post so many times to make sure I stay within MSN rules. Drop the hysteria, a simple explanation will do.

How about a much simpler way of determining who should live there. Prove your lineage to the land, how long you can actually trace your family ties to the land, whoever wins and stays and the loser can go wherever they like. No fairy tale books. Actual proven lineage.

There are two sides to every story but even meeting somewhere in the middle, there is existing evidence that many Arabs fled what is now Israel in 1948 as they were promised by the Arab League that the Jews would be defeated (genocided) within days/weeks and they could then come back. Those that remained in Israel became Israeli citizens. There's enough evidence of that.

Also remember Jordan and Egypt illegally occupied Judea & Samaria (renaming it the West Bank) and Gaza from 1948 to 1967 and didn't create a Palestinian State.

The Palestinians who were allowed to escape to Jordan were literally driven out by Israeli terrorists, as per the UK definition of the Irgun and Lehi. Haganah were involved in a lot of the atrocities but were forgiven because of someone to talk to as far as the British were concerned. There's no two sides to this story. Villages like Deir Yassin and Tantura were ancient villages who were slaughtered by European invaders. It's as simple as that. You can try as much as you like to push the vile concept that Plan Dalet, which is in its final stage, has some morally valid ethos but no, it is the same genocidal colonialism which civilised people now reject.

I guess it depends on what inherent bias you already had as to what version of history you believe.

I had none as I wasn't raised with an ingrained hatred of Jews (which seems to be a starting point for most anti Israel bias) and knew nothing of Palestinians so I was able to look at both sides.

There are actually old videos still in existence of Arabs themselves saying they were told to leave to get out of the way of the 5 established Arab Armies that invaded Israel (you'd think Israel was the aggressor!). Also that Deir Yassin was exaggerated to cause panic so they would flee

Interesting you haven't mentioned the Arabs attacks on Jews before 1948, in the same way as ignoring ongoing Palestinian terrorism in the West Bank I raised in a previous post.

If you want to go back to settler violence now, I’ve already said I’m against the Settlers and agree they should be sanctioned for their violence towards Palestinians.

I also think the more extremist members of the Israel government like Ben-Gvir should be sanctioned. He’s a disgrace.

Today is day nine of the siege by Israelis on innocent Palestinians in an attempt to drive them out of their homes. Despite assurances that the Israelis involved in this would be dealt with they have been filmed shaking hands and chatting away to the IDF as they hold the innocent Palestinians captive in their homes.

The Palestinian American who owns one of the besieged homes has arrived to the West Bank from Ohio to try and defend his home. Let's see if the presence of an American citizen in the scene changes anything for the poor families who are being terrorised.

If Deir Yassin didn't happen, why did David Ben-Gurion and Golda Meir write a letter to apologise. They didn't want the Haganah to be involved even though they were. So what are you trying to say. I think you should do a bit more research on 'settler violence' if you want to have an informed opinion, rather than just accepting West Bank Palestinian propaganda which is obviously a two pronged attack with Gazan Palestinian propaganda.

This is an interesting read and can be fact checked. I'm not denying there is violence from Jewish farmers, or retaliation for terror attacks, but I've also seen Western 'activist' professional agitators, cameras ready, trying to provoke a clash with teenage boys. That would not be seen in any other country. Some of the videos are shocking. There are also many fabrications, much the same as in Gaza.

I'm sorry, you're right. How the hell are they holding on. When it was the Chilean miners everyone was so concerned. This family are literally under siege by a liberal democracy and no one cares. The dehumanisation is staggering. Even Israel surely can't keep this up.

True, 6 Palestinian Americans have been killed in the West Bank by soldiers and settlers in the past 2 years. No one has been held accountable for any of the killings so I can't see that Israelis holding people captive, no matter their citizenship, will be the thing that makes the US act.

You are unbelievable. The videos clearly show these psychopaths, and I mean that literally, sending kids to be aggressive but only push the adults with their shoulders hoping to initiate a physical response. If they do, the IDF come in and arrest them.
