Trump threatens to 'massively blow up' major Iranian gas field

Donald Trump has just issued a long Truth Social post about an Israeli attack on the South Pars gas field in Iran on Wednesday night.

In retaliation for that strike, Iran attacked Qatar's Ras Laffan - an industrial area that contains the world's biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facility.

In his strongly-worded post, Trump says the US "knew nothing" of Israel's strike, and threatens an escalation if Iran attacks Qatar again.

"Out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East", Israel "violently lashed out", Trump writes.

He goes on: "The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen."

But Iran didn't know this, Trump writes, and that its retaliatory attacks on Qatar's Ras Laffan were made "unjustifiably and unfairly".

Trump writes - in capitals - that Israel will not attack Iran's South Pars gas field again, "unless Iran unwisely decides to attack" another innocent nation, which in this case was Qatar.

It Iran does strike Qatar again, Trump threatens that the US will "will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before".

He adds that he doesn't want to authorise "this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications" for Iran, "but if Qatar's LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so."

Nice bit of propaganda but we have no idea how long the regime can hold out for.

Laughable that people just say they’re lying as though they have inside knowledge which they don’t. You would have been quick enough to believe Netanyahu if the words that came out of his mouth had been different & had agreed with your belief this was a joint attack.

And the Iranian regime - no emphasis on their pretty obvious lie that they have a functioning leader? Their military is in way worse shape than the US’s which also doesn’t often get mentioned. Perhaps you just think “they’re lying” about the damage done to the Iranian military too.

If both Trump and Netenyahu are telling the truth, that means their officials working on the war effort are lying. That's not good.

Rather concerning that Iranian spies were arrested as they tried to gain access to a British nuclear plant.

WTH 😬

MissMoneyFairy · 20/03/2026 15:38

It's the ones who don't get arrested I worry about, there are spies and leaks everywhere

lilajen · 20/03/2026 17:57

What would they want in a nuclear facility?

Now you’ve heard it directly from the mouths of both Trump and Netanyahu. Very much alive by the way whereas the Iranian “leader” has still only been seen in the form of a cardboard cut out.

Miss communication and did trump saying Israel or nethanyahu in his statements?

Yes Iran leader is not the subject here, as it was not them who started killing.

Netanyahu said at his press conference last night that Their air force is nearly destroyed. Note the word nearly.

Trump said recently that American forces have inflicted devastating damage on Iran’s military infrastructure, claiming that Tehran has lost much of its naval and air defence capability.

I believe this incident is still being investigated but no, I wouldn't leap to the conclusion of fake news.

Why would you doubt it when the IDF and US have both shown footage of things being blown up that were struck in June last year? The US has said they have air superiority, yet they're flying BUFFs out of Fairford loaded with JASSMs. Gen. Caine said A-10s and Apaches are doing attacks in south Iran. From which bases, General? Also, sure they are. The Yemenis have shot down much easier to target aircraft and also made F/A-18s hit the deck to avoid 358s flying their way.

The US hasn't a single carrier within 1000 km of Iran's coast. Bit weird that the Ford happened to have a massive laundry fire that took 30 hours to put out just after being within range of Persian coastal batteries.

The F-35 is not magic. The Iranians have electro-optical systems that clearly tracked one and the Chinese have radar tech that can easily find stealth aircraft. If you think this is far fetched, keep in mind that Serbia shot down one F-117A in the '90s using '60s era SAMs and a lot of smarts, and almost downed two others.

The US and Israel do not have control of this situation. Anything else is fake news. And cardboard cutout Ayatollah or not, who cares? The Strait of Hormuz is still closed and the USA cannot, with all its might, do anything about it.

Duckopolis · 20/03/2026 23:38

I forgot to add, Trump talking about their air force and navy is irrelevant. Those aren't the things Iran is known for that are dictating the tempo of this war. Iran has always been far more invested in ballistics and drones than anything else. This is like gloating over sinking the Swiss navy or the Irish air force.

Also, anyone taking Trump or Hegseth or Bibi's words at face value is a credulous moron.

Twiglets1 · 21/03/2026 05:02

I said I wouldn’t leap to the conclusion of fake news. So in other words, it could be true. Though still under investigation.

The Straight of Hormuz will be dealt with.

Good grief @Twiglets1 that was a total sarcasm bypass by you.

The communication (or lack there of) of the Trump administration and Bibi will be studied in the future on how not to "sell" a War.

It could be deliberate miscommunication

That's a game that Netanyahu and Trump have played over the last 9 months. Usually there will be an article by Barak Ravid (ex IDF soldier with unit 8200) at Axios saying that Trump is angry with Netanyahu or they're fighting.

It's meant to confuse normal people, but more importantly it will be broadcast on Fox News and other Republican outlets, where the only MAGA (I find the term credulous morons accurate) still supporting Trump will "believe" and repeat it.

Remember the spilit in MAGA happened after Trump bombed Iran last year. It's been further exacerbated by things like the late Charlie Kirk being totally against War with Iran.

Trump can't afford to appear to his base to be controlled by Netanyahu.

How about this Chinese version on how the Iran War is playing out?

The ending comment is M&S worthy.

Great animation, wonder if Trump has seen it 😉.

Apparently Chinese netizens were tryjng to donate money to the Iranian embassy in China that it had to issue a statement saying thanks but please stop.

Chinese youth are far more educated on Geopolitics and know that Iran is the last step before targeting China.

Me? That Iran gets the US and Israel to back off and then we deal with the Strait now being used permanently as a toll area because Iran are for sure never going to trust the West again on anything diplomatic. So it will just have to be on their terms of compensation.

And that we all move collectively away from FF usage generally. If climate disaster couldn’t do it, maybe wallets being impacted will. Stupidly.

TopPocketFind · 21/03/2026 10:14

The US Treasury has now lifted sanctions on Iranian oil at sea.

Iran will get $14 billion from the deal, the first time the US is buying Iranian oil since 1996.

Duckopolis · 21/03/2026 10:21

Iran has also said there is practically no oil at sea of theirs for that to really make a difference. We are now getting into the “find out” stage where the floating oil is rapidly dwindling and we will have physical supply issues that the market can’t just paper over with good vibes.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called for “restraint”after Israel and the US targeted a nuclear enrichment facility in central Iran.
The Iranian Tasnim news agency said the Natanz site between Tehran and Isfahan was targeted earlier on Saturday. It said it had not led to any radioactive leakage, and residents were not at risk (See 09.24am)
A post on X, formerly Twitter, by the IAEA on Saturday quoted its director general Rafael Grossi and said: “IAEA director general Grossi reiterates call for military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident.”

See how much they care for Iranian's, how about a little nuclear fallout to go with the 2000lb bombs liberating you......

Flattery for Trump's benefit. He actually seems very suggestible. It's said his current opinion depends on the last person he spoke to.

Very suggestible, a candle in the wind.

They showed exactly how much they care about Iranians when they bombed a school on the first day of the war.😢

Caring about Iranians was a lie. Fodder for MAGA sheep 🐑🐑🐑 to regurgitate as their President of Peace led them into an unnecessary, illegal war with no objective and no plan.😒
