If that is really the case will this not be very damning for Trump? How will he respond to this?

@Notonthestairs I'm not a military strategist I'm an arm chair commentator so feel free to cast aside my comments
What I'm reading is that joint spy teams are in Iran now looking for uranium sites .
One site at least Israel would need several hours to blow up one site.

Bombing any infrastructure around nuke building would be the obvious ones but hard to achieve if buried in mountains

So what were they doing last year?

How will they find any when all Iran's nuclear capabilities were "obliterated" by the USA and Israel last June?🤔

Its WMD all over again.

Oops, x-post with @Notonthestairs.

Realitycheck1 · 17/03/2026 17:34

@Yapper73 I've seen maps showing troops along the straight part to try and take out any capability there to stop attacks on boats.

Well that would at least be a plan but there’s a million Iranians in the military how do 5000 marines fight them off? Surely, it will be a blood bath. It’s terrifying

Realitycheck1 · 17/03/2026 17:49

@Notonthestairs again I'm an armchair commentator so im not sure why you are asking me?
Do you have access to any higher knowledge ?

Last year I assume they tried to take it out but either werent able too , didn't get all the sites ?

What do you think ?

HollyBluIvy · 17/03/2026 17:50

This guy has very respectable credentials and surely his words must carry a lot of weight. I hope he is the first of many.

Notonthestairs · 17/03/2026 17:51

I think we were lied to before. And will be again.

Realitycheck1 · 17/03/2026 17:53

@Yapper73 I don't know why I'm suddenly being asked lots of questions maybe I sound misleadingly authoritative ?as I've said to the previous posters I'm just an arm chair commentator.

However one would think that the concentration of troops is not all protected the strait

Getting millions of troops to the straight with no air cover and Israel and USA dominating the skies would be risky for them .
Again having many tropes on the ground massing would be risky like us stuck at dunkirk.

They need troops to keep the civilian population down across the country. So I'm not sure how many or how they could send serious numbers to fight in that particular area.

However maybe it's a good tactic to draw them there ?

JaneFondue · 17/03/2026 17:55

Quelle surprise.

Realitycheck1 · 17/03/2026 17:55

It was obliterated. You think it was obliterated and rebuilt?

White House says counterterror chief wrong to say Iran posed 'no imminent threat'

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on social media, saying Kent had made "many false claims" in his resignation letter.

Specifically on Kent's statement that "Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation" - Leavitt says Trump had "strong and compelling evidence" that Iran was going to attack the United States.

"This evidence was compiled from many sources and factors. President Trump would never make the decision to deploy military assets against a foreign adversary in a vacuum," she says - adding that Iran was given "every single possible opportunity" to abandon nuclear ambitions.

"President Trump ultimately made the determination that a joint attack with Israel would greatly reduce the risk to American lives that would come from a first strike by the terrorist Iranian regime and address this imminent threat to America’s national security interests," she says.

Clearly it was damaged but not obliterated.

People keep going on about this point as if it's a big Gotcha.

I don't really know why - I think we all agree Trump lies and exaggerates?

JaneFondue · 17/03/2026 17:59

WMD 2.1. Or rather, I have lost count of the versions.

Yapper73 · 17/03/2026 18:01

Sorry @Realitycheck1I wasn’t trying to put you on the spot or thought you knew the answer, I was just trying to make sense of it all. And I’m not sure that’s an achievable feat right now.

Previous Trump buttlicker.
Links to the Proud Boys.
Refused to admit Trump lost in 2020.

Surprised you think these are impeccable credentials but ok.

we all know those impeccable credentials would melt away if he had made a statement pro Trump or supporting the war.

People on here keen to get in bed with a white supremacist if he wants to engage in a little bit of Israel bashing. Embarrassing.

So embarrassing. He is exactly the sort of man they would have hated before he made this particular statement.

Notonthestairs · 17/03/2026 18:23

An antisemitic proud boy associate surely not.
He was appointed under Trump. So at some point that was an attractive attribute.

He’s certainly laying the groundwork for the war to be entirely Israel’s fault and simultaneously suggesting Trump’s gullible and easily led.

He is also the sort of person that many would have been proud of if he was endorsing the war with Iran.

I appreciate those posters who have given more insight into his background. It does bring into question why so many senior figures in the Trump administration come from a white supremacist background.

I don't doubt this his resignation has nothing to do with the welfare of the Iranians, rather his extreme MAGA outlook.
