Very disturbing

"BODIES AND BLOOD Piles of bodies and rivers of blood can be seen from space after thousands massacred in brutal Sudan killings
Experts say over 2,000 civilians were killed during the Rapid Support Forces’ seizure of El Fasher"

Let's not bring it to that and compare atrocities. The Sudanese deserve to be discussed and highlighted in their own right and not just in relation to point scoring with the Gaza conflict .

I don't think it's that at all. It is genuinely worth wondering why there is so much more publicity and uproar about Gaza than about any other conflict.

Bringemout · 29/10/2025 17:39

Looks like 2.5k civilians in the last few days. I remember listening to a podcast with an arab talking about how utterly racist arab sudanese were towards black sudanese. the level of dehumanisation and the scale of the sexual violence really is astounding.

Tbh I’m a bit surprised too, it’s not that I don’t think the conflict isn’t important, it is.

But there are something like 150k dead in Sudan, millions displaced, the scale is incomprehensible. It’s like everyone on Gloucester being murdered.

El-Fashar has 200,000 civilians, It’s horrific to think what will happen to them.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 29/10/2025 17:54

Wtaf!! I knew it was bad but bloody hell, when you do some research. Why is the world turning a blind eye.
Very distressing. I have no more tears left today.

Someone posed a question

How the world stands idly by I don't understand?

And I answered it.

Not "point scoring" - just a factual answer.

There is a myriad of reasons.

-lack of involvement from western country really which means there is less media attention. You also have no proxy supporters (US-Israel, Iran- Hamas)
-the fact it is so complicated and has moved to a civil war (so no invading country). Unfortunately the West does see civil wars in African countries with lesser importance.
-both the RSF and SAF have done the most appalling acts and they are often viewed as two sides of the same coin.
-Sudanese Internet rates are around 20-30% and it often fails so there is very little coming out on social media .
-there is not as large a Sudanese diaspora (4.5 m) compared to other conflicts (Israel, Palestine, Ukraine, Russia etc) which drives attention also
-journalists have been targeted and murdered so news is not getting out even if MSM in western countries had the appetite to publish it.

None of which makes it right considering the level of a humanitarian disaster that is happening.

Africa and Africans are ignored and blamed by turns. It's not that antisemitism means Gaza is in the news, as many people believe. It's that Africa in many people's minds is btutal, uncivilised and unmanageable. Forgetting that 99% of the issues stem from colonisation. And Africa almost never features in good news stories, although there are many. It'sinvisible unless someone is killing someone or there's an outbreak of something.

LilyCanna · 29/10/2025 19:19

Have no answers to any of it, but bumping this thread. 😢

Sadly true, well said

Soonenough · 29/10/2025 19:27

The brutality is unexplainable. Are these people just so traumatised that they are indifferent. Humans must feel love for their children, their family and know that life should not be like this . Nothing to fight about just about control. And of course it is men following so called leaders that could turn on them at any moment. Ironic that Africa can be so anti black in this world.

460 killed in an attack on a Maternity Hospital this weekend. (Staff and patients)

Unimaginable cruelty. How the world stands idly by I don't understand.

This. It's barely made the news.
It makes me so angry. Do these people just not count?
Doesn't it matter?

This is on such a huge scale, and the massacres of thousands of innocents, women and children is just shocking.
Why isn't it the headlines?

I wonder, too.
No marches for them.

Bringemout · 29/10/2025 20:25

It makes your heart hurt, I do think at the heart of it is basically racism. People just don’t seem to care that much when it’s africans. I think this is going to be the most horrific episode of ethnic cleansing we have seen for a long time. I don’t see much movement from any governments in Europe or the USA on intervening here. I worry we are all just going to let it happen.

That's to remember hostages, I think? So quite specific to events.
Perhaps another coloured ribbon to raise awareness though?

IMO it's a case of "no Jews, no news"

I felt sick to my stomach reading that.

Man's evil knows no bounds. What is happening to innocent children in Sudan is shockingly cruel and depraved.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 29/10/2025 22:04

Absolutely horrendous, those poor people hunted and slaughtered, so disturbing.
It would be helpful to keep the thread focused on Sudan.

Yes this.

There are a lot of players involved in this but from reading this piece it seems the war and killing most fuelled by UAE. Also UK isn’t entirely innocent either.

There was an image of a child hanging from a tree with what looked like his mother. Speechless.

I know a lot of people are now advocating to boycott the UAE and more awareness needs to be raised regarding this.

MonetsLilac · 29/10/2025 22:21

Thank you, @BluntPlumHam . It's interesting about the involvement of the UAE. I'm just reading up on this to understand why on earth it's happened, and happening.
Also why it doesn't make the news.

IMO it's a case of "no Jews, no news"

War, destruction, deaths in Africa have never been a media priority.
Rwanda's genocide was rarely mentioned in the media.
It's a lot more likely to be racism rather than "no jews, no news".
