Conflict in the Middle East

What was the purpose of this level of destruction?

Gazans are returning to their homes and are horrified to see the level of destruction. Their joy mixed with despair.

www.timesofisrael.com/gazans-joy-over-ceasefire-tempered-by-shock-as-they-return-to-destroyed-homes/

We can feel joy that the hostages are returning home, relief that Hamas will be sidelined - but how do we reconcile with the death and destruction that has happened in Gaza?

The peaceful Israeli settlers are attacking people, homes and vehicles in the west bank today like they do everyday. Why the destruction? Why do they burn the olive trees? How can people who claim they love the land burn olive trees i can't fathom.

Why do people comment on genocide who clearly don't understand that the entire or even close to the entire population does not have to be killed to constitute a genocide?

They were trying to target Hamas not the ordinary Palestinian people.
If you are trying to say they were trying to commit genocide against Hamas then you would be correct.
As it stands it is you that does not understand what constitutes genocide.

They starved their hostages. Look at this photo. The poor bloke is skin and bone. His captors look like they could go 90 minutes on the rugby field. Very well fed indeed.

Absolutely terrible that poor hostage.

It's relevance to bombed water desalination plants though....?

Well does it not make you wonder what else they’re lying about? Perhaps the fact we’ve seen photos of starved individuals yet the entire population dancing on camera look very well fed and healthy?

Ah typical victim blaming. If you think a criminal runs is in a school you don't bomb the whole school and kill everyone then blame the criminal that may or may not be there. (unless you are the IDF)
There is still an obligation in wartime to protect civilians.
Laughable but a very typical response on here to IDF wilful atrocities.

Edited

The civilians are sent a
warning text messages to leave the area before any military operation - why do you think they stay in harms way?

There's plenty of evidence including words of incitement to genocide by Israeli officials. It IS a genocide. Even if you don't think it's a genocide there has without doubt been very serious war crimes systematically perpetuated by the IDF.

They aren't always and with the massive destruction of Gaza, there isn't always a safe place to go either.

TicklishMauveSquid · 13/10/2025 22:12

Clearly you don’t understand the concept of ‘intent’ that constitutes genocide.

Has a genocide ever taken place where the genociders have facilitated the entry of aid, (more aid than in any war in history), given warnings to evacuate before commencing operations which warned the enemy they are fighting too, created safe zones, facilitated the evacuation of sick children and adults for medical care, provided water, electricity and internet - so the people being genocided could post pictures of the genocide from their brand new iPhones to their SM followers, held hostages and refused to surrender, held festival like funerals for a mother and young children they kidnapped and murdered with well groomed families attending it like it was a special day out, printed up massive posters depicting their enemy’s leader as a vampire and printed t-shirts saying ‘ I survived a holocaust’……………

Maybe the definition of genocide needs to changed just for this war, just coincidentally fought by the only Jewish State?

Oh wait, aren’t they doing that already?

I would suggest this is not an unbiased source, but how could it be when Israel have not allowed the world's s media into Gaza.

Self protection from biased journalist 🧐

good grief I really can't do this any more - off for a ☕

Bigpinksweater · 13/10/2025 22:14

Has anyone seen a photo in the last few days of Gazans who look thin and hungry?

Martymcfly24 · 13/10/2025 22:15

TicklishMauveSquid · 13/10/2025 21:49

Who cares, they were voted in.

The Palestinians knew what they stood for, what they were. and what they had done, they also had 18 years to do something about it.

Who cares?

Well since you are linking Hamas and the Palestinians living in Gaza by the vote it is very important.

So the last election was held on 2006 (so 19 years ago)

50% of the population are under 18 so they didn't vote for them.

Roughly 26% of the population are aged over 35 (18 is the voting age and the last elections were 19 years ago so I am being generous here)

There was a 74% turnout rate. So around 19% of the current population voted.

Hamas received 44% of the votes which means around 8% of the current population voted for Hamas.

A terrorist organization who is vigilante against those who oppose it.

Can see why you don't care about the numbers now, don't exactly fit the narrative do they.

Yes a little girl died from malnutrition just before the ceasefire took place.

Same old excuses.

If pro-Pals like you really believed Hamas got into and stayed in power against the will of the Palestinian people and they could do nothing about it, why is there silence on Hamas from the very vocal pro-Pal protestors who have been causing chaos in Western cities for the last two years.

Why were there, and still not, protests to get rid of Hamas.

Why are people not writing to their MPs and sailing flotillas?

So we have 30 odd individuals who died from starvation but the rest of the population look perfectly healthy and energetic? Can someone explain?

juggleit · 13/10/2025 22:32

Spot on.., also add to the list and verified by WHO and UNICEF, COGAT/IDF implemented 1,000,000 doses of polio vaccines to Gaza children during the conflict.

Numbers are facts. But you don't obviously don't like that because you didn't address them at all.

Because they are allergic to them...

66% of Jewish Israelis are hypersensitive (allergic) to the pollen of native olive trees,
