App to boycott Israeli goods

Everexpanding · 14/09/2025 10:49

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

Wow.

  1. wow that most of the middle East is awful for gay rights?
  2. wow because you didn't realise Gaza was on a par?
  3. wow because it's someone offensive to point out something that's true because it doesn't fit with your narrative that they must be the worst?

Yes ... but the flotilla is due to leave Greece today and back into international waters.

Italy had proposed a compromise whereby aid supplies could be dropped off in Cyprus and handed over to the Catholic Church’s Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which would then distribute them in Gaza.
Israel said it backed the idea, but the flotilla organizers rejected it.

Italy’s foreign ministry has sent a message to Italian members of the flotilla warning them against continuing with the mission, and offering help with repatriation if they choose to disembark in Greece.

It said the navy ship it has deployed would intervene only for sea rescue or humanitarian operations, and would “under no circumstances” engage in defensive or offensive military maneuvers against anyone.

“Whoever [continues with the mission] takes on all risks and is personally responsible for them,” the ministry told activists.

I know. It's no more homophobic than most of the Middle East. It's hardly waving rainbow flags but it's definitely not one of the worst.

It's funny how its never mentioned about the way the IDF exploits and blackmails Gay Palestinians in order to force them to be informants. Like almost every comparison the concern is "performative" (also see Sudan, Yemen, Congo).......

Did anyone see? So many diplomats just walked out as Netanyahu started his speech.

Kakeandkake · 26/09/2025 14:31

Netanyahu is a fucking psycho. He has ordered the army to put loud speakers around Gaza to air his speech at the UN as part of psychological warfare. Bastard.

It's not going to work, no one believes him. The walk out is historic and Netanyahu is broadcasting his lies all over the world live.

It’s all Hasbara and lies "burning babies", this man is really trying to steal more Palestinian land live on TV. He has burned what little sympathy that may have remained with Israel.

Just waiting for him to mention for the Nth time that Israel did not kill Charlie Kirk.

I hope the Palestinian citizens get to see the walk out. Perhaps it will give them a tiny spark of hope that the world does not endorse their massacre.

The room is almost empty!

How humiliating for Netanyahu. The only people in the room clapping and cheering are other Israeli delegates.

Its just loud speakers, not a screen but I think it has reached the point where it is clear that he has lost his fucking mind. Can you imagine how allies view these sort of dystopian disturbing actions. Israel spends so much money on public diplomacy, and then ruin it all in one go with shit like this.

Kakeandkake · 26/09/2025 14:54

What a clown, he's brought placards with him again 🤣

He has openly admitted right now at the UN that the support Israel had from allies at the start of the war has now 'evaporated' i wonder if he has ever stopped to ponder why that is?

UltraCynica · 26/09/2025 15:01

Also, Trump now saying (first time a US president has stated their position on this): "I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. Nope, I will not allow it. It's not going to happen.”

It looks very much like Netanyahu's plan is evaporating.

By the way, an update on boycott finds: the co-op's fairtrade pretzel and salted caramel chocolate is absolutely amazing! 😊

Gloriia · 26/09/2025 15:11

Edit as boycott mixed up. Co op is allowed. Just not their hummus or Quavers obvs.

They maybe need protection from each other. The fights between gays and pro palestine activists on the greta flotilla may need the Greek navy to intervene.

So much delight from some on this thread.

Wonder if this is why

'Another prominent activist from the flotilla, Mariem Meftah, took to social media to voice her opposition to LGBTQ+ activists 'taking advantage' of the pro-Palestine cause, one that is 'sacred to us as Muslims'.

What will 'Queers For Palestine' do now?! Rebrand or maybe find another cause? It'll be a dilemma that's for sure.

A rousing chorus of 'in the navy' is always good for morale.
I can see Greta doing a YouTube vid of it.

Another prominent activist from the flotilla, Mariem Meftah, took to social media to voice her opposition to LGBTQ+ activists 'taking advantage' of the pro-Palestine cause, one that is 'sacred to us as Muslims'.

Or maybe she just means that she doesn’t want other issues to take over what the flotilla’s main aim is, and that there is a time and a place for them, but not at this moment. Can read both ways.

Which is exactly why Greta stood down and moved from the lead boat.

The focus should be and is supposed to be on aid for Gaza

He knows he's talking to a load of halfwits so simple measures are needed.

Love his comment that his speech is being transmitted to hamas phones. I bet they get a bit of a sweat on when they see a notification after the pagers incident.

So he can text their specific phones but can't find them (gps?) to just kill them and not thousands of children 🙄.

Every word just incriminates himself more.

So it’s not free the hostages and get rid of Hamas then @Gloriia ?

It’s blindly support Netanyahu and his determination for there to be no Palestinian state at all. Gosh!

How ironic @Gloriia defines the halfwits as the ones who stayed to listen to that drivel.

The speech isn't being reported as going to specific phones just "cell phones" as well as loud speakers.

Well tbf the message was probably transmitted to all phones not just terrorists.
