Conflict in the Middle East

App to boycott Israeli goods

1000 replies

Everexpanding · 14/09/2025 10:49

the “No Thanks” app, which first appeared almost two years ago carrying a large list of companies and brands consumers might consider boycotting because of Israeli links.
The app has become a key tool for the BDS movement that targets Israel economically for the actions of its government and its military in Gaza.
Along with a list of companies and brands to boycott, the app allows users to scan barcodes to find out more about the relationship particular products have with Israel.

It's a good thing that Netanyahu is on his way to meet Trump in the US.

Trump is going to try to persuade him to agree to the new peace plan

It wasn't targeted by drones. It was their own flares they were fiddling with, there was actual footage of it.

No. They were bombed.

Gloriia · 26/09/2025 10:49

You don't have to click on a dm link, but in a nutshell pro palestine activists quit as they discover gays are on board Confused. I mean really, did the flotilla staffing recruiters not consider homophobia before setting sail?!

No. They were bombed.

There is footage of them tampering with flares. Why would anyone bother bombing them?

Political differences have allegedly plagued the leadership of the Gaza Sumad Flotilla, with reports that Khaled Boujemaa, the Tunisian coordinator of the convoy, defected after learning about the presence of queer activists on board.

Twiglets1 · 26/09/2025 10:57

You couldn't make it up could you @Gloriia

In two video streams posted on social media, he is understood to have complained about the addition of members of the Tunisian LGBTQ+ community to the convoy - activists who joined the flotilla when it stopped at the northern port of Bizerte.

'We were lied to about the identity of some participants in the vanguard of the flotilla, I accuse the organisers of having hidden this aspect from us,' he said, according to a translation by Le Courrier de l’Atlas.

The cause of his frustration was allegedly the participation of activist Saif Ayadi on the flotilla, a 'communist queer militant' who boarded the convoy when it stopped off in Tunisia.

Another prominent activist from the flotilla, Mariem Meftah, took to social media to voice her opposition to LGBTQ+ activists 'taking advantage' of the pro-Palestine cause, one that is 'sacred to us as Muslims'.

Everexpanding · 26/09/2025 11:03

Why we boycott

Civilian injuries in Gaza similar to those of soldiers in war zones, study finds

Burns were particularly common and severe, in particular among children, the authors found.

The extent of traumatic injury victims reflects “the impact of indiscriminate aerial and heavy explosive bombardment in civilian areas”, the study said.

What will 'Queers For Palestine' do now?! Rebrand or maybe find another cause? It'll be a dilemma that's for sure.

He will be arrested one day. He can't avoid being a war criminal forever.

That day will come

Fantastic. So many countries offering their protection.
They now need to go to the next level and actually do something to protect the citizens of Gaza from this genocidal maniac.

Gloriia · 26/09/2025 11:46

It is awful I agree the suffering that happens in conflicts. Not much mention in your article on how hamas have caused such suffering other than a cursory mention of Oct 7th. No provision of bomb shelters, not allowing civilians into the underground network of tunnels. In fact hamas have increased risk to civilians by hiding among them, mingling with them and using them to hide hostages.

They're appalling aren't they yet the Guardian's article hardly mentions them.

They maybe need protection from each other. The fights between gays and pro palestine activists on the greta flotilla may need the Greek navy to intervene.

I've never really understood why Isreal supporters think that Palestinians being homophobic is some kind of gotcha. I don't agree with homophobia but also don't support the genocide of homophobic people. It's not really a difficult concept to grasp.

It isn't a 'gotcha'. It is stating a fact that a flotilla allegedly desperate to help is now caught up in a squabble over gay crew. It just proves the ridiculousness of their quest when they can't even put other people's irrelevant sexuality to one side for the bigger 'cause'.

Edited

Yes this appalling amount of civilian casualties and deaths definitely not caused by those dropping the bombs on densely populated civilian areas ??? Do you ever pause to listen to yourself???

Or maybe she just means that she doesn’t want other issues to take over what the flotilla’s main aim is, and that there is a time and a place for them, but not at this moment. Can read both ways.

Wouldn't it be better just to focus on the supposed main aim of the Flotilla which is delivering humanitarian aid and leave the infighting and social media announcements until later?

I mean, I think she has a point that other activists have joined the pro Palestine cause with their own agenda but that's an argument for another time, surely.

itsnotveryfriendlyhereisit · 26/09/2025 12:31

That’s what I just said.

It's crude to describe it as a "gotcha".

It's more puzzling to us why "Queers For Palestine" are so keen to align themselves with a country where their sexuality wouldn't be tolerated.

It's almost embarrassing to point out that many of the people they are defending would presumably despise them if they met, or at least disapprove of them being loud and proud about their sexuality.

It doesn't mean that homophobic people deserve to be killed of course. It just seems strange to make a thing of your sexuality when defending them.

Twiglets1 · 26/09/2025 12:38

itsnotveryfriendlyhereisit · 26/09/2025 12:31

That’s what I just said.

But she didn't do that, did she?

So I agree with Gloria that, It just proves the ridiculousness of their quest when they can't even put other people's irrelevant sexuality to one side for the bigger 'cause'.

itsnotveryfriendlyhereisit · 26/09/2025 12:44

She’s sat on a boat. Think she might have time to use social media to say don’t let other people’s squabbles deflect from the main cause. You can agree with Gloria all you like. Just pointing out another way to see things.

I know. It's no more homophobic than most of the Middle East. It's hardly waving rainbow flags but it's definitely not one of the worst.

'Do you ever pause to listen to yourself???'

Yes I often do listen to myself and always agree.

Seriously, Hamas are the problem here and always have been.

Why isnt anyone writing articles on how they do not even try to protect people and infact even purposefully put civilians in harms way because the more deaths there are the more some western organisations and their fans blame Israel.
