The Israeli army are using aid centres as target practice.

The Israeli government is proposing building a 'refugee' centre in Rafah with an extra special feature - no one is allowed to leave.

Hotel California?

Killing of young siblings at Gaza water point shows seeking life’s essentials now a deadly peril

Karam al-Ghussain, 9, and Lulu, 10, were fetching water from a nearby distribution station when an Israeli strike hit it, and them

Agreed. I hope the US will reign Israel in, but I doubt they would.

I can't see that happening in the near future when it's only the deaths and suffering of Palestinians. They are irrelevant on this stage.

I find it hard to understand how 'ceasefire' keeps being used in relation to Israel. It doesn't seem to mean what we understand the word to mean. Here is a story of a young girl in Lebanon who has been left blind from an Israeli attack, her and her mother are the only survivors in her family. This is what Israel did to her family:
Amina saw her husband Chadi with half his body and head missing.
Panicking, she turned back to her twin babies, Hadi and Silan, who were still strapped in their car seats.
They were covered in blood and they too had been decapitated.
Amina's 10-year-old daughter Celine was next to them and she didn't seem to be so covered in blood so Amina's instant assessment was that maybe she was alive Chadi's leg was in her child's lap. Celine had catastrophic internal bleeding and died soon after reaching the hospital.

Israel say that they regret any harm done.

There is no ceasefire.

Why isn’t this being covered by Western media? Everyday brings another chapter of a continuing massacre.

Israel bombs Gaza wedding as mediators hold ceasefire talks in US
Israeli attack kills at least six Palestinians attending wedding party at school-turned-shelter in Gaza City.

edited to say sorry for duplicating but really was waiting for some coverage on this from BBC etc. Have I missed something?

It's hard to understand the logic behind decisions like this, how is this self defence?
One of Dr Shaalan’s colleagues, whose name appeared on the approved “green list” of doctors allowed to enter Gaza, was turned away at the Israeli checkpoint for carrying a single personal stethoscope.
“He told them, ‘This is my own stethoscope. I can’t work without it,’” Dr Shaalan said.
“They told him, ‘No, you’re not allowed to carry medical aid,’ and they sent him back to Jordan.”

Yes that bit was completely shocking and illogical.

Approved on a green list etc and yet can't enter. And no reason why. The absolute power over the fate of people in Gaza that they have taken is sickening.

It is not self defense .

It's not self defence, it's the impotent rage of small people in the IDF who need to make themselves feel strong by exerting control/bullying. I've listened to lots of ex and current military from around the world say they would never want to be associated with such an army.

Absolutely agree.

I read a COGAT whistleblowing report (I have linked it before but can't find it now) and it spoke of the ways it humiliated Palestinians especially at checkpoints or blockades.

Small people indeed.

Ellen2shoes · 22/12/2025 19:37

‘Doctors are also restricted to carrying approximately $300 (€255) in cash (strictly for transport) and just three kilograms of dry food for rotations that can last weeks.’

Surgeons Victoria Rose and Graeme Groom (also refused entry) mentioned this too as it’s clearly a deterrent for humanitarian workers.

Another example here of how restrictions on aid and medical supplies is effecting the recovery of vulnerable children.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2084n1pyvdo

It might be better, due to her medical condition to continue treatment in Jordan? With her immune system deficiency, she will pick up countless infections, poor child.

"She has an immune system deficiency which makes it hard for her to fight bacteria. She also struggles to absorb nutrition, meaning she requires specialised baby formula."

BelleHathor · 23/12/2025 12:17

Unfortunately it's likely arbitrary rules being imposed by Israeli authorities. Jordanian authorities said:

"Under the evacuation scheme all patients are sent back after medical attention.
^^
I put it to Dr al-Momani that people might find it hard to accept that a child in such a vulnerable condition could be sent back to Gaza in the current conditions.
^^
"No patient is sent back before they finish their medical treatment… the first reason [why they are returned] is that this will allow us to bring more patients from Gaza. We cannot take all of them at once. We have to take them in batches. So far we have taken 18 batches.
^^
"The second reason is that we don't want to contribute in any shape or form to the displacement of Palestinians from their land and all patients are told… after treatment you are sent back so other patients and other children can be brought in for treatment."

Also on returning to Gaza;

"The Jordanian authorities gave Siwar's family a supply of 12 cans of the hypoallergenic Neocate formula on their departure for Gaza. However her mother Najwa told us that Israeli officials confiscated much of what they'd been given - nine of their 12 cans were taken.

"They told us, 'It is forbidden to take more than these cans,'" said Siwar's mother, Najwa Ashour. "Even though it is therapeutic milk and they said that treatment is allowed, yet they took them."

This will get worse @Boolabus . Israel has concocted some new rules for NGO's entry .Save the Children will be refused entry.

That's doesn't bode well for the future. I keep seeing people say that the thicko pro Palestinians don't understand that this is just war, this is what happens in war and what Israel are doing is not exceptional in anyway but does this happen elsewhere? Israels defence minister announcing on 9th of Oct 2023 that “There will be no electricity, no food, no water, no fuel – everything will be closed.”, that was really shocking to me and didn't feel 'normal' for war and here we are 2 years later with a supposed ceasefire and still Israel are preventing the necessities for life from reaching Gaza in adequate amounts. Does this really happen elsewhere, occupying powers purposefully restricting food and water and medical care to civilians for years is that really what 'normal' war looks like?

There are reasons she can't stay in Jordan but agree her immune system is so weak there just isn't the right medical facilities in Gaza for her. She was sent back with 12 cartons of the specialised formula but all but 3 were confiscated, why? That is unjustifiable cruelty. How anyone can take a lifeline like that from a vulnerable child is beyond my comprehension

Yes I know I keep seeing the same posters explaining how ridiculous we are but this is unjustifiable . Israel took/occupied a population 20 years ago used economic policies to suppress them and ensure a huge amount were reliant on aid and are now stopping those very aid agencies entering. It is ethnic cleansing by hook or by crook whatever way you look at it. And it's cheaper than dropping American bombs on them (with the associated bad press)

BelleHathor · 23/12/2025 16:05

It's not War, it is the planned systemic destruction of the Palestinian people as per the numerous statements of the Israeli Government. I remember being chilled by Netanyahu invoking the biblical reference to Amalek in October 2023, this calls to “blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” It wrong, immoral and wholly sinister.

The only way to even try to justify the continual crimes of the Israeli Government and the IDF is to result to petty insults and denigrating posters. The kind of propaganda that doesn't realise that nominating a kids presenter for "Anti-Semite of the Year" (Tucker Carlson won in the end) is not a good look is severely lacking in self-awareness.

I totally agree. I don’t see how any war can be perceived as ‘normal’ and while I can believe that wherever there are wars, there are war crimes, the documentation of the devastation is so thorough in its detail with the situation ongoing despite the ‘ceasefire’ and now spreading to a huge upsurge in settler violence alongside the blocking of aid and with the government itself publicly declaring its intent - I just can’t understand how this can continue to feasibly interpreted as self defence.

I remember first posting in distress during the relentless bombing and probably looking for some comfort (!) after years of silently Mumsnettting and then being shocked at the vitriol of some of the posts. Have become inured but it is saddening that there are still derogatory posts set to fuel division on Mumsnet when surely the vast majority of mums everywhere must want this horror to stop.

Absolutely.
Katz himself has said they will never fully withdraw from Gaza in the last couple of days

This is not a war and it is not self defense. It is vindictive bullying of a smaller country by powerful nation aided and abetted by other powerful nations with the sole purpose of destroying them or making them leave. (Watch for the posters who talk continuously about voluntary migration and why wouldn't they leave to give their families a better chance-they don't respond to being challenged at all)

On another note I know there are a lot of Irish posters here and an all female choir from the West Bank is singing at Christmas from Kilmainham tomorrow evening on RTE.

What a lovely post.

I would love to say the vitriol bothers me but it says more about them. Very proud of Ireland.
