To be fair, Ben Gvir has been banned from entering the UK. France and Ireland have sanctioned him for insulting their flotilla activists. The European Union foreign policy minister has recommended that he should be sanctioned by the 27 EU member states, though nothing has happened there yet

Ben Gvir boasts of being indicted in Israel 53 times, and he has been convicted eight times of crimes including incitement to racism. (By the age of 14, his mother was a member of Irgun, the terrorist group).

Nevertheless, he continues almost daily to express his monstrous opinions and death threats that would have him deported or locked up for life in most countries.

For a man who has behaved the way he has and said the things he has he still has a 32% approval rating.

The elections will tell a lot about Israeli society if he is reelected.

“The young man beckons us into a small shop off the maze of alleyways covered in resistance graffiti that constitutes Qalandia refugee camp.
There, with a wary glance back at the door, he lifts his T-shirt to reveal a concentrated patchwork of livid purple bruises.
He said: “They beat me all over my body for at least 10 minutes. I was in shock, I nearly lost consciousness. When my father came into the room they beat him too – both of us in the genitals.”
The man, whose identity we are not disclosing, claims he was assaulted by Israel Defence Forces (IDF) soldiers during a three-day operation in the camp near Jerusalem last week, then in detention over several days.
Troops entered at night in heavy vehicles, set up rooftop firing positions and aggressively searched numerous properties, detaining dozens of inhabitants, mostly young men.”
“The IDF said it had targeted “terrorist elements, terrorist infrastructure, and the possession and trafficking of weapons”.
The raid has prompted fears that Qalandia, an area not traditionally thought of as an extremist stronghold, is being eyed up for forcible mass evictions by Israel Katz, Israel’s populist defence minister, before the general election on Oct 27.
Three other major West Bank refugee camps – Jenin, Tulkarm and Nur Shams – were cleared out and partly demolished in 2025, displacing around 40,000 people.
Abu Issa, a community representative, said: “They’re planning something here. The government has wanted to get rid of the refugee camps for years, but there are more extreme members who want to provoke us into doing something in revenge. Qalandia is peaceful. We don’t want trouble.””
“The Telegraph interviewed witnesses from among Qalandia’s approximately 16,000 residents in an effort to understand what had happened.
Some said they had encountered soldiers who had behaved professionally. Others alleged that troops had been aggressive and physically violent.
Fadwa Farouk, 66, described how her 25-year-old son was beaten on the back with cables, before being handcuffed, blindfolded and led away.
Mrs Farouk said: “They burst in with their weapons raised with lights and lasers on. They beat my son and, when I tried to stop them, pushed me down with a gun.”
The Palestine Red Crescent Society said 35 people had been taken to hospital, having been severely beaten, and six others had been treated at the scene.”
“A central feature of the operation appears to have been the establishment of field interrogation centres in commandeered buildings. The testimony of those who spoke to The Telegraph suggested very little serious information gathering had taken place in them.
Inside one of the buildings, Mr Issa showed the splintered door frames where, he said, troops had forced entry.
He said: “They set up these investigation centres, and they took dozens of people there. But they didn’t ask them anything serious about terrorism. They beat some of them, shouted at them. It’s all political. It’s for people in Israel.”
The young man with the bruises said he had been asked very few security-related questions during his time in detention.”

He is the leader of Jewish Power, a Kahanist, anti-Arab party that has 6 seats in the present government

Although at the age of 18 he was disqualified from serving in the IDF, and subsequently collected 8 criminal convictions, he has been Israel's Minister of National Security since 2022. He lives in an (illegal) settlement in the West Bank.

He is transferring powers from the IDF to the police in WB and according to a tweet translated by Andrey X, wants them to employ powers to arrest anti Zionists in Israel. Andrey says that he is effectively threatening to start kidnapping human rights activists.

There is a video on AlJazeera at the moment showing Israeli settler children throwing rocks at an ambulance. Strangely, none of them were arrested.

But remember, only the Palestinians indoctrinate their kids with hatred…..

There is another video also on AlJazeera of "settler" children attacking Palestinians on the 16th August. They look pretty hateful in it.

Yes that was my first thought about the rocks. How many Palestinian children have been arrested and in detention for this very crime.

“Settlers” abducted a Palestinian farmer for refusing to leave his land. There is footage of him blindfolded, on his knees with his arms tied behind his back before they shot him. IDF soldiers stood guard while this was taking place and then blocked the road to prevent an ambulance getting through.

I just saw that video there Jane. No words . That poor man . The fear is un imaginable that he went through.

Hanging for terrorists. Some countries hang for murder. So selective on this thread, one might assume that if Israel do it, it's bad and if any other countries do it, then not so bad.

Guess what - the death penalty is practiced in many countries including da da da - Palestine! Also able to find in the US, Syria, Iraq, Yeman, Afganistan etc etc - quicte a few actually - where is the outcry.

Some countries stone to death - much slower (Stoning, or lapidation, is a method of capital punishment where a group throws stones at a person until the subject dies from blunt trauma. It has been attested as a form of punishment for grave misdeeds since ancient times. in recent times, stoning has been a legal or customary punishment in Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen, northern Nigeria, Afghanistan, Brunei, and tribal parts of Pakistan. Where's the outcry?

There there is 'hudud' criminal punishments (whipping, stoning and amputation) prescribed for certain crimes. Nasty, again takes longer to die! Practiced by some Islamists, hudud punishments are at the core of the divine sharia because they are specified by the letter of scripture rather than by human interpreters. Nothing to see there either!

Personally I am against all capital punishment for severeal reasons not just ones carried out by Israel (also against those)

There are some really extreme punishments for the most minor (or not even a crime in other countries) have a look here:

Sharia practiced in most extreme form is notorious of its cruel punishments: chopping of limbs, beheading and stoning to death. These practices violate most international norms of human rights. The Sharia punishment for many crimes is beating. According to Muslim Law men caught drinking alcohol or are supposed to be publicly flogged. Those found guilty of blasphemy or apostasy or converted to another religion can be executed. I mean how riduiculous is that one! The punishments for adultery including public flogging and stoning to death. Umm interesting the thought processes for all the individuals who think any of this is ok. Again various countries! Israel doesn't do that but it would like to hang terrorists and boom is quite a different matter! 🙄I would like to think evenly and think all are not great, but there you go!

Roughly 3,200 are held under administrative detention, a policy that allows military commanders to detain people for renewable six-month periods based on classified evidence neither they nor their lawyers can review.

What makes you so sure that the people excuted, by various methods, in Palestine by the local governance get a fair trial either.

Capital punishment in the Gaza Strip has been enforced by multiple governments, militaries, and irregular militias throughout the area's history. A large proportion of the killings have been associated with broader violent conflicts. Many of the executions have be described as extrajudicial killings due to an incomplete or unaccountable court procedures.
According to Palestinian law, there are 77 crimes that are punishable by the death penalty. Quite a few crimes then, not merely terrorism.

From 1994 to 2022, approximately 260 death sentences have been issued: around 230 in Gaza and 30 in the West Bank. In total, during this period, 41 executions were carried out, with the vast majority occurring in Gaza.

After the Gaza peace plan was implemented in October 2025, Hamas carried out executions of what they alleged were collaborators and criminals across the Gaza Strip, citing crime and security concerns. The first occurred on September 22, when three people accused of collaborating with Israel were shot. Reports indicate that 33 men were killed in total. Humanitarian organizations, including the Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, condemned the killings as extrajudicial executions and called for accountability. Not sure any trials took place since they were just shot in the streets.

I forgot this thread is about how bad Israel is and no matter how bad any other country might be it is irrelevant, dismissed, couldn't possibly be as bad as Israel now could they. Hmmmm.

So capital punishment by Israel is wrong (I agree) but capital punishment in Palestine to fellow palestinians is tumble weed. I also think it's bad - don't you?

Will this be a turning point for anyone. It was roundly denied by some posters on here that the IDF would do it.

Surely no one could support these horrific actions and the targeted deliberate murder of that little girl ( and family)

I think it was awful and should be prosecuted as a war crime.
