I watched Penny Wong from Australia speaking and the arrogant response of the Israeli ambassador. It was basically oh we thought they were Hamas ( shock horror) . Not our fault.

I hold no hope for Hinds case. They will find a way to say lessons were learned . All the way back to Rachel Corrie they will never see then as doing wrong.

“Ending correspondent relationships might sound like a technical matter of little importance to Palestinians next to the murder and mayhem they are contending with, but they aren't. Without them, Palestinians won't be able to do business with Israeli customers and suppliers except in small cash transactions. That includes payments for water, electricity and oil. The PA will struggle to import essentials, such as medicine. Imports will be effectively cut off because Palestinian banks will not have access to foreign currencies. In short, economic life in the West Bank will grind to a halt.”

There have been reports of Palestinian Christians fleeing, but they are a tiny minority, and they tend to have family connections abroad that make the emigration easier. But, as Israeli rightists discovered when they tried to actively promote "voluntary emigration" from the Gaza Strip, where conditions are far, far worse, there weren't that many takers among Gazans and even fewer countries ready to take them. These days, the world isn't receiving refugees with open arms, nor are there many countries prepared to be a partner to Israel's ethnic cleansing.
With the election in Israel less than 10 weeks away, the pressure Smotrich and his allies are putting on the Palestinians is likely to ratchet up. After all, the polls are not promising for the Netanyahu government and the far right, and time is running out to complete their work in the West Bank. As a result, it seems that the violence has become more audacious than before. It is fair to assume that Smotrich is acting more aggressively on the economic front, too.”

The Israeli Defence Forces first assert that they were "not present or within firing range" of Hind Rajab's vehicle. Now, without the least embarrassment, they admit that they did fire on the car, killing Hind and her cousins, all of them children.

It was news to me that ‘Israel is withholding $6 billion in clearance revenues, preventing the Palestinian Authority from paying salaries and delivering basic services’ while ‘significant resources are being allocated to settlement expansion, including $431 million to support 34 new settlements.’

One of the justifications for stealing this money is that it is to offset outstanding utilities bills! ie direct payments for outstanding public services and debts owed to Israeli entities eg Israel Electric Corporation and regional water utilities -access to which Israel has decimated.

Water bills - a quick google has some data: For the average person in Gaza, the water situation is a severe daily survival crisis. Over 82% of families are water insecure, and more than half the population survives on less than 6 liters of water per person per day—far below the World Health Organization’s emergency minimum standard of 15 liters.

So…. Israel are withholding funds for outstanding bills for the non existent services (which they have destroyed).

Or could it be that they want to perpetuate the conditions of war so that survival is rendered impossible, chaos reigns and Palestinians are forced into displacement while the state of Israel grabs more and more land by its ever shifting yellow line - just because it can. If a child in a refugee camp can make a weapon capable of taking down a solider that looks like a bloody paper kite they would be a miracle worker . Children in Gaza have long played with paper kites during the spring and summer.

“It is now a year since Mariam Abu Dagga, a Palestinian journalist who worked for Independent Arabia and the Associated Press, was killed by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) in, of all places, a hospital. That fact is not in doubt.
The story, recounted in moving and forensic detail by the Independent’s Chief International Correspondent Bel Trew, is desperately sad and one of grievous injustice.
Mariam was 33 when she, journalistic colleagues and medical staff were hit by successive rounds of Israeli tank fire, leading to the suspicion that this was a “double tap” attack.
She leaves behind her teenage son, who she sent to the UAE for safety as the conflict intensified.
When Mariam was trying to get the truth about the war in Gaza out to the wider world, she was also coping with the loss of her mother, who in the middle of the bombings in 2024 died of cancer, in part due to a lack of treatment.
Mariam had donated a kidney to her ailing father. Like almost every family in Gaza, they experienced bereavements and suffered multiple forced relocations. She always knew her own life was in especial danger, and understood the risks.
“Her will had already been drawn up, and she was only too well aware of the way the IDF dealt with Palestinian hospitals, and that the one where she was based, the Nasser Medical Centre, would soon be surrounded by IDF armour.
So Mariam was a selfless person and a devoted journalist who put herself in peril in a way few in the trade could ever hope, or wish, to emulate. She never gave up. Now, neither will friends and colleagues in pursuit of the truth.
Unsurprisingly, she and her family have been denied justice. Even by the standards of this merciless conflict, her death appears at the very least an act of extreme negligence by the IDF, and at worst it may have been something far more sinister.
In any case, the usual conventions of war were violated, as so often has been the case, according to the numerous indictments filed at the International Court.
The Independent has shared all our detailed findings with the Israeli military, and asked for comments on each point. The military declined to respond, adding only that “the review is still ongoing under the General Staff Fact-Finding and Assessment Mechanism”. ”

Mariam was not, by any means, the only brave journalist to lose their life or suffer injury during the Gaza war. At least five journalists were killed in the assault on the Nasser hospital a year ago, and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) says Israel has killed over 200 Palestinian journalists since 2023.
This is more fatalities than any other government has been responsible for since the CPJ began collecting data in 1992. It compares badly with the approximately 230 lost over the entire span of the US-led Iraq war between 2003 and 2011, and the 63 who died during the 20-year quagmire of Vietnam.
It is therefore worth considering whether the extraordinarily mortality rate for journalists in this war is linked to the fact that they are overwhelmingly Palestinians.
The Israeli government often complains that it is held to a higher standard than others. Yet it is precisely because Israel purports to be a free democracy with a responsible military operating within the Geneva conventions that it needs to account for itself, and is under increasing pressure to do so. ”

The Israelis seem to want to fight on and on and on, and don’t seem overly concerned about their methods or the counter-productive results.
The events since the October 7 massacres by Hamas, which formed the worst atrocity of its kind since the Holocaust, have not left the Israeli people more secure.
The conduct of the war in Gaza, as well as the present campaign to drive Palestinians off their land in the West Bank and the destruction of southern Lebanon, is leaving Israel friendless in the world.
It has set back the Abraham Accords process, which offered some hope of stability in the region. The future of Palestine remains unsettled, no matter what Benjamin Netanyahu might boast. He has even exasperated the Trump administration.
One step forward, and it is inevitable, is for Israel to allow international journalists access to Gaza. They cannot be excluded forever. What happens there is of global concern. ”
“It is a war zone, but the media has almost always been present when the bombs are dropping and bullets are flying, and it is a matter for them and individual journalists as to the jeopardy they think is acceptable.
The more the world sees of the way Israel tries and fails to use military means to resolve a political dispute the more it will leave Israel isolated – and vulnerable. That, presumably, is why the Israeli government resists transparency – and it is not out of some altruistic concern for reporters.
Exposing the truth and telling the story in an unbiased, independent way is one of the reasons why the media is so essential even – especially – on the field of conflict; and no journalist identified as such should be killed just for doing their job.
What happened to Mariam and the others was wrong, and those who did it need to face the consequences. ”

An Israeli military strike targeting a nearby building has destroyed a warehouse storing nutritional supplies for malnourished children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) says in a statement.
The warehouse belongs to Ard El Insan (AEI), a local humanitarian organisation working with MAP to support about 60 medical points serving up to 100 women and children daily.
The overnight explosion collapsed large sections of the building, including the roof and walls, burying the supplies under rubble, according to MAP, which said the entire stock was damaged and rendered unfit for human consumption.
“Losing these quantities in their entirety is a major blow to our work and will undoubtedly affect our ability to reach the children and women who need these services, particularly given the conditions they continue to face in the aftermath of starvation,” said Sahar Salem, AEI’s project coordinator.

Difficult to interpret this action as not showing intent to eliminate an entire group of people, even if presented as an exceptional incident rather than in the context of the catalogue of attacks on humanitarian aid.

A soldier has revealed how the IDF’s de facto policy of ‘retrospective incrimination’ was used after the August 2025 strike on Nasser hospital that killed an Independent Arabia journalist, reports Bel Trew

The Israeli military uses a de facto policy of “retrospective incrimination" for high-profile attacks that kill a large number of civilians without a clear military objective in Gaza, including deliberately counting Palestinians as “terrorists” even when unarmed, a soldier has revealed.
The whistleblower, who Israeli advocacy group Breaking the Silence put in contact with The Independent , said it is "policy" to reframe attacks with high death tolls or those on sensitive protected buildings like hospitals and schools. The same soldier said this action was deployed after Israel's 25 August 2025 double-tap attack on Nasser medical complex in south Gaza, which killed 22 people, including five journalists, among them Independent Arabia reporter Mariam Abu Dagga.

They also said that all cameras in Gaza are seen as a "legitimate target", regardless of whether they are being used by journalists, backing up previous tank officer testimony obtained by The Independent in a ten month investigation into Nasser hospital strike published this week. The military claimed at the time the target was a camera “positioned by Hamas” militants but Reuters later identified it as theirs. The whistleblower also confirmed the military did not try to contact Reuters or the hospital before the attack with their concerns about the camera.
"When [The military] understands there is a crisis, they try to connect the people that were killed or harmed to Hamas,” the whistleblower continued."Because if they can say the people who killed them were a Hamas terrorist, that would look better in the eyes of the world."

I very much hope it does. I saw a video today of Gaza, just rubble as far as the eye could see. It made me think about what an absolute idiot you would have to be to believe that Hamas were hiding everywhere, in all of those buildings but those idiots walk among us and many people do still defend it with the 'human shields' argument. I'm just so disappointed that NGOs and independent observers have not able to get into Gaza and document the scene before Israel removed evidence. It makes these photos and videos so much more important which explains why Israel were so keen to target all cameras.

This clip has appeared online, I am conscious that the translation may not be entirely accurate but it has been reported from a number of sources. I am always amazed what is now being said in public. It is clear from so many influential voices coming out of Israel that they are fully behind cleansing Gaza and the West Bank of Palestinians yet we are expected to debate the actions as if it is rational and justified to some extent

In an address at West Jerusalem’s Gush Katif Museum, Israel’s Chief Rabbi David Yosef denied Palestinians exist as a people and said they ‘have no rights’. He also claimed Gaza and occupied West Bank cities for Jews, and called for Gaza’s destruction and Jewish settlement.

Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has shared an AI-generated video on his social media channels that appears to ridicule Palestinian prisoners.
The animated video depicts Ben-Gvir removing icons representing food from above the heads of a group of people in prison uniforms, before they are sent into a prison on what looks like an assembly line. The video ends with the prisoners leaving the facility looking frailer and apparently despondent, with one of them in tears.
Ben-Gvir’s post comes after he earlier shared footage of himself visiting a prison holding Palestinian women in the occupied West Bank, boasting that he is responsible for the harsh conditions they live in.
After one prisoner seen in the footage told the Israeli minister they had not been able to shower in days or receive adequate medical treatment, Ben-Gvir responded: “The good conditions in the prisons are over. This is the current situation, and I am directly responsible for everything. I am pleased with these conditions.”

Two Palestinians have been killed and many wounded by an Israeli air strike that targeted the entrance of a residential building near al-Maghribi Street, central Gaza City, our colleagues on the ground are reporting.

These two should be no where near government ministerial positions which hold such huge responsibility, they are evil. I hope every word, deed and action is being collated as evidence against them.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, whose face already appears on campaign billboards across the occupied West Bank, released an AI-generated ad warning that he would do to the Negev and Galilee – areas with large Palestinian populations inside Israel – what he has done to the occupied West Bank by building Jewish settlements there under the slogan “Ahmed is right to be afraid”.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir responded with his own AI video depicting overweight Palestinian prisoners entering Israeli jails on an assembly line and emerging emaciated and crying.
