Well it's up to Hamas now......let's see how much they value their people.

Trump says Israel has agreed to conditions for 60-day Gaza ceasefire

US president warns Hamas "it will only get worse" if they do not accept the deal.

Hamas have accepted a deal so are we going to see all the pro Palestinian mob praise Donald Trump for stopping a genocide and putting his name forward for a Nobel peace prize?

don't think so because even though there might be a glorious end to civilian death of will stick in their craw that Hamas are essentially defeated militarily and there is no prospect of 'resisitance' with Iran a key Hamas backer put back in the box.

I still can’t work out if you are for real.

These threads are so funny. People arguing endlessly about a country they have never been to, cultures they aren’t part of and a situation they have no personal experience of. All based on videos they have seen online. It is bonkers.

As bonkers as the people in this country who want to bring down a government based on their perceived reaction to a situation that barely anyone in the U.K. has first hand knowledge of.

Well done guys. It looks like we can look forward to Prime Minister Farage because of this shit. I have lots of sympathy with the people of Gaza but I am not prepared to give up my country or the well being of my family to support them.

The world has gone complete insane.

isitspringyet · 05/07/2025 07:01

Is there anyone alive in Gaza still or have they all been bombed and starved? Ripe and ready for Tump’s redevelopment as a holiday destination

Yes fancy people taking an interest in a political situation in a country they have never been to. Personally, I have actually been to Palestine. I worked there for 3 months. No idea how you managed to link that to Farage as PM🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you not watch tv? There is footage of Palestinians every day on the news. You are consuming some sort of gross misinformation certainly if you think even a large proprtion of the population has been killed. The vast majority of the population of gaza is still alive and not starving either. Obviously exact stats are difficult but there are over 2 million people in Gaza, a slight decline since the beginning of the war.

Yes it looks wonderful there no one being bombed or killed. Israel currently bans foreign journalists from independent reporting in Gaza

I've never heard of anyone claiming noone had been killed. That would be ridiculous. Its true that jornalists arent allowed in but I have no reason to believe that the footage of living Palestinians that we see every day is fabricated and not even Hamas have claimed that more than a small proportion of the entire population has been killed. I know people love to make stuff up and lob in wild hyperbole on these threads but I wonder if they really think people fall for it.

Israel doesn’t want ceasefire. It suits their agenda to destabilise the region which is why BN helped Hamas into power. A tiny detail which seems to be forgotten. BN doesn’t want negotiations.

The op article says they’ve agreed to it

It’s not going to last. One side will break it within days or weeks at the most.

@Monicaca There’s a difference between taking an interest and basing your entire political view point on a single issue.

Corbyn’s new party will spilt the vote even further, allowing the Labour majority to be eroded and giving Farage further gains.

I am completely convinced now that this is a deliberate tactic to allow the election of a right wing minority government in this country.

I feel for Gaza but I am alarmed at how easily and quickly so many people on the left have made this issue their main talking point in politics. Is peace in Gaza more important that the stability of our own government? I see lots of people who seem to think so.

I have no idea what you are on about to be honest.

Bontonbonbon · 05/07/2025 08:49

@Monicaca And that is part of the problem. Trump isn’t wading out of the goodness of his heart. He’s keeping the fires of division burning because it is good for the right wing narrative.

Making a free Palestine a western political campaign amongst left wing voters is a tactic. Anyone doubling down on this view point is sleep walking into fascism.

Idk why you are writing this to me as if I am some sort of Trump supporter and only care about Gaza. I do care about Gaza a lot. I think everyone should if you have humanity.

Bontonbonbon · 05/07/2025 09:01

I’m writing to you because you answers my first post. And I am just pointing out that caring about Gaza is fine but making it an entire political point of view is going to lead to destabilisation of the British government. It is already happening.

Monicaca · 05/07/2025 09:02

I don’t see where anyone is making that an entire political point of view, but yes I care more about Gaza than I care about how often my bins are collected.

Bontonbonbon · 05/07/2025 09:07

Right, but the bin collections aren’t what you’ll give up if the political left splits enough to allow Reform to win enough seats to form a coalition with the Conservatives.

You lose your reproductive rights, benefits, the NHS, maternity leave and the poor and disabled will be fucked.

Gaza is awful. But there is very little we can do about it from here. We have no control over their governments. Our government cannot force a peace. Going online to further inflame divisions only continues the cycle that perpetuates the violence. Some of the online campaigning has become very extreme. I worry that people have lost all sense of proportion.

Edited for typo

Bontonbonbon · 05/07/2025 09:10

Remember that the Us finds itself with a totalitarian government because liberals would not vote for Kamala because her stance on Gaza was seen as too weak. What a spectacular own goal.

And now sick children are being held in detention centres and deported without their families.

Monicaca · 05/07/2025 09:12

You do know that there are not just left wing people who care about Gaza? My DH is a Tory voter as are many of our friends and completely aligned with me politically over Gaza.

Bontonbonbon · 05/07/2025 09:17

That is even more frightening. If Gaza becomes a main talking point for an election then it will split the vote even further.

What is happening is awful but there is little that European governments can do vs Trump’s America, China and Iran.

What is guaranteed is that Reform voters do not care about Gaza. And Reform will
continue to hoover up votes from (sadly the majority) of people who don’t give a stuff about Gaza. If local and national elections become all about this (and they are being pushed that way) then this Labour government will be short lived.

It could very easily happen here. Maybe people should think about that.

Monicaca · 05/07/2025 09:20

I think it’s great if Gaza becomes a main talking point but doubt it. It will be about “the boat people” as usual.

Bontonbonbon · 05/07/2025 09:24

So you would give up a reasonable government in favour of right wing rule so that more people would be discussing Gaza.

I am baffled by this view point. You’d give up a free and fair country for everyone in the U.K. to wade into another country’s war based on things you been told online by strangers? Absolutely unbelievable.

SharonEllis · 05/07/2025 09:28

@Monicaca what is it about Gaza that should make it 'the main talking point" in UK politics? Why is it more important than other human rights crises and conflicts hapoening now in the world? What is it about this conflict?
