Conflict in the Middle East

To think someone has got to stop the mass killings in Gaza

We are back to hundreds of Gazans being killed each day after the so called ceasefire and over 50,000 now slaughtered, mostly women and children.
The bombing of hospitals, schools and 'safe zones' not being enough, they are now picking off paramedics. How much depravity is the world going to tolerate?

AIBU to suggest that the world leaders complicit in Netanyahu's genocide should all stand before the Hague?

I have avoided this board for some time and I see that nothing has changed.

Surely everybody can see that there is evil on both sides. Hamas is disgusting for what they did on October 7 and their continued violence and lack of concern for their own people or Israelis. And Netanyahu and his cronies are also evil murderers who clearly
want to obliterate Palestinians from Gaza.

And the reason there are so many threads about this and not other international mass murders happening right now, is that western governments are supporting Netanyahu and his appalling campaign. As someone from a western country, that makes me more angry than I can express in words. Not in my name.

Like most decent people, my heart is with everybody who has lost a loved one, and everyone who is living in terror right now and/or missing a loved one. Israeli or Palestinian. No human life is more important than another. I hope every innocent hostage on both sides get released and can begin to heal.

I am not a politician and don’t have the answers. But there is definitely a more powerful aggressor in this game and it is not the Palestinians.

Christ. Innocent hostages on both sides???? Waiting to obliterate Gaza? I’m lost for words.

It’s rampant crap. I’m trying to ignore it all in the hope that history and facts show these vile racists for what they are in the future. The shit I’ve read over the past year about Israel has proved to me how utterly imperative it is that the media only ever print verified facts, and how dangerous and influential propaganda is.

Jujujudo · 07/04/2025 08:54

Idkw2d · 06/04/2025 20:00

That makes no sense.

so you’re saying it’s ok for a nation of people to be oppressed and killed and thrown out of their homes and they aren’t allowed to retaliate against the oppressors in any way?

so basically Palestinians should shut up and die? Please clarify what you mean instead of flapping away the history of Palestine

You obviously have a huge amount of arrogance and zero actual knowledge.

Except the global community aren’t using Hamas figures….

Errrr yes they are

Send the hostages back and the war ends.

Don’t disrupt their propaganda and anti Jew agenda with facts!

'Possibly, Shani may have died after she was taken hostage - she was reported to have been on life support in a Gaza hospital'

You seriously think that after parading her broken, bloodied body around with everyone spitting on her they suddenly had an attack of conscience and dashed to A&E? No chance. Don't believe everything hamas say.

I was certainly hopeful for her. There were various news outlets, Israeli and other, reporting from her mother who said she might still be alive at the time - that she was in hospital. It’s not like I have a hotline to pedal Hamas lines.

How the hell do you know that? What are the names of these soldiers? Did they tell you personally?

It’s in the paper today. Maybe read 🤷‍♀️

To be clear the conditions are release the hostages and destroy Hamas. Very reasonable demands I think.

Why don’t you provide a link when you state things that aren’t widely known?

People like to see the source reporting the information so they can make up their own minds whether it’s a reputable source or not.

It’s in the Guardian. It’s online and free. If you have strong opinions on the situation then why aren’t you reading all you can about it ?

Apparently when the source is Israeli its lies and if the source is Al Jazeera it’s gospel truth.

Even a link provides justification to their agenda. If the link supports Jews (Israel) then it’s to be questioned and called out as a lie, if the link supports terrorists or the Muslim brotherhood propaganda then it’s absolute fact. Apparently. It’s a nightmare. This whole situation has proved absolutely that it’s possible to be outwardly racist, to hold normal people accountable for a war, to single out only one nation as a terrorist state and feel that somehow you are on the side of humanity. I hope that in the future, what has happened to a people making up 0.02% of the world’s population will be seen as a crime and not as an aspiration.

I had read about it this morning actually but it’s just good practice if you’re having a debate to provide a link to your source if you’re talking about recent news.

Yes I used to think Al Jazeera was good for news but over this conflict they have shown a lot of obvious bias.

PurpleChrayn · 03/04/2025 22:14

It’s not a genocide.

Hamas have exaggerated the figures.

It could end tomorrow if the hostages are released and Hamas stands down.

Hmmm

You are totally wrong there

Very disrespectful thing to claim

Why comment if you avoid these threads and see nothing has changed yet still want to share your opinion?

That is all that we are all doing, sharing our opinions.

I commented because I wanted to.

Jujujudo · 07/04/2025 08:47

Gosh, a lot of experts here on the ground with strong evidence of actual facts. It’s not like you’re all letting your bias and emotions get in the way. I mean, let’s suddenly believe every thing we read! Let’s not question anything because it suits our agenda! Let’s automatically vilify an entire country because the media tells us we are justified!! Let’s single out the war in Gaza/Israel and home in on unverified details, while ignoring the ethnic cleansing in Syria, mass killings in Pakistan, Putin’s barbaric unjustified mss murder in Ukraine, subjugation of women in Afghanistan, uncontrolled infanticide in China! Who are any of you to use inflammatory language like genocide (a word created to describe what happened in the holocaust)? What actual facts do any of you have? How much true historical information do you have? How easy has it become for all you vehemently anti racist, humanitarian and loving people to become outwardly racist towards Israel and Jews?
You want to talk facts?? Ask an Israel citizen, ask a Druze family living on the Syrian Israel border. Ask a Gazan. Go on? I’ll help you get in touch with any of these people.
Im utterly horrified at some of the things written here. When has it become acceptable to vilify and demonise an entire nation based on propaganda and rhetoric?
Oh how easy it is to be hateful when it’s the Jews eh?

the ethnic cleansing in Syria, mass killings in Pakistan, Putin’s barbaric unjustified mss murder in Ukraine, subjugation of women in Afghanistan, uncontrolled infanticide in China.

Could you show me where Western governments including our own, have said that they support the killings you mention, and that they support the perpetrators? Because that’s a major issue for me and my views on Israel’s actions. Nothing to do with ‘the Jews’. Not for me, anyway.

They lied about the personnel not wearing their Red Cross/crescent uniforms, UN uniform and fire fighter uniforms, they lied about killing terrorists as part of the group

Sorry, but I don't think you can make a blanket assessment on what all of the men were wearing - as one of the three men in the video footage is not wearing any sort of uniform at all. There's a fleeting glimpse of another man dashing behind the ambulance who also appears to be wearing dark clothing. All we can say for certain is that at least two of the men were wearing uniforms/high-vis vest.

But I do ask myself why Hamas would kill some [hostages] and keep some alive

I can think of a dozen reasons why some hostages may be killed by their captors: 251 hostages were taken on October 7, therefore some hostages were expendable, killing some hostages puts further pressure on the Israeli government, dead hostages are still useful to the terrorists as families want to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones, some hostages were close to being rescued and could not be moved to another location, non-civilian hostages are seen as legitimate targets, some hostages may be killed in revenge for Palestinian family and friends killed in the bombings/fighting - or out of frustration at the slowness of negotiations, some hostages may be witnesses or victims of atrocities carried out during captivity, or have knowledge of tunnels and command centres, some hostages may be ill or injured and a burden to their captors, some hostages may have tried to escape or became hysterical, defiant or difficult to deal with, some hostages were taken by other militant groups with a different agenda, some hostages may be disadvantaged by their nationality or ethnic group and some terrorists are simply sadist nutcases.

Why do you think that the uk supports Israel? Genuine question. Why do they fund and support them?
