If it wasn't already clear that Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing in the north of Gaza, then this is the final straw.

IDF soldiers have posted countless videos mocking at the destruction they have caused in the north. The north of Gaza has suffered massacre after massacre at the hands of Israel and after repeatedly targeting the Kamal Adwan hospital, they have now forced them to evacuate after bombing and killing several medics.

I’ve no idea whether he is guilty or innocent. I just don’t know. I’m inclined to believe innocent because he is a doctor but that might be my natural bias speaking

You said you didn't know if he was innocent or not. I'm just wondering what makes you think he could be in Hamas, given the circumstances of his abduction and detention.

Kamal Adwan hospital was raided previously in December 2023, with several medical staff arbitrarily detained and disappeared. Back then, Dr. Hussam was interrogated briefly. At the time, not a single Israeli source accused Dr. Hussam of anything.

None of the medical staff abducted by Israeli forces since November 2023 from Gaza during raids on hospitals and clinics has been charged or put before a trial; those released after enduring unimaginable torture were never charged and did not stand trial. Those still detained remain held without charges or trial under inhumane conditions and at risk of torture.

My point is that it's buying into all the bullshit Israel is claiming about the hospital and its director. This thread has shown that it's all fabricated or just doesn't exist.

So casting aspersions about his character feeds into this.

I know you haven't said he's not innocent but saying he may be or he may not, who could possibly know etc isn't helpful, in my opinion.

And there's no chance he'll be treated well or offered a fair trial. That's wishful thinking.

It’s probably wishful thinking. But I’m genuinely hoping that he is treated well and given a fair trial. If not then - then I will definitely say you’re right and I’m wrong.

The IDF has since told CNN that Dr. Abu Safiya “was apprehended for suspected involvement in terrorist activities, and for holding a rank in the Hamas terror organization, while hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were hiding inside the Kamal Adwan Hospital under his management. He is currently being investigated by Israeli security forces.”

It is nearly guaranteed that he is not being treated well and given a fair trial with statements like this

Plus the fact that he has not been seen in days.

They have to arrest him and raise suspicion about his involvement with Hamas to justify their assault on the hospital. I trust Israeli interrogators as much as I trust the British interrogators that convicted the Birmingham 6 and Guildford 4.

Whether they are a doctor or an unemployed itinerant, terrorist or innocent civilian- I think it is unacceptable for anyone ( innocent or guilty) to be tortured, mistreated ,humiliated or to die from abuse while detained or to be denied a fair trial.

Yes, all their lives matter.

The doctors are particularly at risk as they are credible witnesses, and also the keepers of Palestinian medical infrastructure and the Palestinian’s future wellbeing. When they are detained, or killed, and hospitals closed down that leaves a particular vacuum.
