She was kidnapped when she was eleven years old, and has been enslaved for the last ten years.

Poor, poor lady.

It makes me wonder what other dirty secrets the Israeli's will find in Gaza and Lebanon.

I’d imagine a lot more will go unknown sadly.

I think others will be able to answer this better than I can, but isn’t it because Hamas, and the other Jihadi terrorist groups that have bought hostages off Hamas (like the Bibas boys and their mother), are going to such great lengths to keep the hostages hidden away, particularly in the terror to tunnels? As in, they are for the moment so far out of reach? This hurts my heart to write, but don’t the intelligence services believe that only 50% of the 101 hostages are still alive? Possibly less. Maybe not having that information is also complicating matters.

Apparently Sinwar is, or was, surrounding himself with 15 of the ones he thought were are most valuable in an attempt to save his rotten skin in a raid situation. They must be very hard to locate, to get to surely, for that reason?

Maybe because this poor woman was not seen as “valuable” (as in, they couldn’t use her as leverage) meant the Palestinians holding her were not that bothered about keeping her presence a secret. Hence it was a relatively straightforward operation to execute.

Yes, I acknowledge the hostages would be difficult to find and rescue and the new information that the Yazidi woman escaped and then reached out means they never found her, she mostly rescued herself.

Still wondering about the trapped foreign citizens who are not Hamas or hostages.

LoremIpsumCici · 04/10/2024 00:29

Maybe it’s all being worked on and we will hear more good news of more rescues.

I'm sure there are many secrets in Israel, too.

MagdaLenor · 04/10/2024 05:38

Nobody seems to organise marches in support of the Yazidi people. They don't seem to count. I've read some horrific stories of the selling of women..

stomachamelon · 04/10/2024 06:47

@Mercurial123 oh the mental gymnastics you must be doing? Eats people up when a happy story comes out of this situation doesn't it?

LakelandDreams · 04/10/2024 06:49

All the western liberals marching and waving Palestinian flags should read about this woman.

stomachamelon · 04/10/2024 06:50

but still unable to rescue innocent civilians & hostages who’d you think would be much easier to find?

Exactly what @RoadSidePicnic said. They would be in no way be treated in the same way. The hostages are prizes and as we know they have been told to execute them if the IDF are close to reaching them. Hersch? Etc.

If you honestly think that you know nothing of this situation.

She’s been a slave since she was 11. Have some compassion, it’s ok to centre the victim of a crime, and this crime is slavery and the rape of a child.

I don’t think the poster is lacking in compassion. I believe they’re responding to the comment above which suggested the IDF are on some sort of superhero mission to rescue the victims of disgusting crimes.

Moglet4 · 04/10/2024 07:09

ohdelay · 03/10/2024 20:48

Agreed. The Yazidis have been disappeared. I imagine there are a lot of them enslaved in plain sight in the Gulf states as well.

I’m quite sure there are and from other places too. Dubai was built on slavery and still runs on it. Disgusting

The media bias is extraordinary....

I did read about this woman, I'm still going to wave a Palestinian flag in support of the hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestinians suffering in this war

MagdaLenor · 04/10/2024 07:35

If only there was a flag we could wave in support of women who are victims of Islamist regimes, eg Yazidis, Afghan women. They literally have no voice.

What a goady unnecessary comment. No one has ever argued that Palestinians are all as white as snow, the world is cruel and there are many cruel evil people within it, including those that captured and held this child.

I hope she gets the support and privacy she will need to come to terms with this trauma.

There are many charities that are focused on supporting women. I can't post links here because they are looking for donations. Women for women is one but there are many more. I know in Ireland the women's council would often organise protests around these issues, I'm sure there would be similar in UK.

YoYoYoYo12345 · 04/10/2024 07:50

The Yasidi genocide. Didn't really get discussed on mumsnet much.

Very sad, I've read a lovely people. What the Islamic extremists did to those poor people.

Thanks. I was so horrified at the latest misogynistic crimes in Afghanistan, I did look up how to help and support. That women are literally not allowed to speak in public I found shocking, and worse - the lack of outrage.
I've been in touch with a couple of organisations.
I will similarly investigate how to support any Yazidi women.

Grandmasswagbag · 04/10/2024 08:10

Obviously the rape and kidnap of Yazidi women was well publicised but I had no idea that many had to reject their children upon return to their communities. That story is heartbreaking. To think that woman was actually happier while she was enslaved because her family was kept together. The suffering of thousands of women and children because of the actions of stupid evil men. All across the region.

BetterEveryday2 · 04/10/2024 08:11

It's obvious the angle of the thread is to put Israel in a better light and justify the genocide by cherry picking news. I still support Palestine and Lebanon against Israel. Nothing justifies Israel's actions, nothing could make me accept Israel's actions and thankfully many are of my view, too.

All across the world 😓

If you truly supported the innocent Palestinians and Lebanese caught up in these awful wars, then you'd be supporting Isreal to free those people from the fanatical terrorists oppressing them, Hamas and Hezbollah. It's quite difficult to understand how we're a year into this conflict and you still don't understand the basics.

Ilovetowander · 04/10/2024 08:22

Appalling treatment of women and other minorities, it is good that these stories are being told and people now what attributing have been committed.

Oh, “stranded”… Just like that time when our flights were cancelled on our way back home from our holiday in Spain? Can totally relate to that!
Incredible wording 🤦‍♀️

Difficult to accept that over 14,000 children have to be killed, thousands more injured, displaced, starved, dying from diseases and orphaned to save them! Let's not pretend any of this is to free Palestinians from Hamas. I have never once heard Netanyahu claim that was his ultimate aim.
