I see the old thread is sadly almost full. I wonder how many of these I will start? 😢

I just saw it, unfortunately. In the context of evil pricks saying it's a hoax.

What do these morons think happens to tiny child bodies when you bomb them? They die nice and peacefully and their bodies remain unscathed?

It's beyond horrific. Anyone defending this, or Israel's actions or those of their allies must be brainwashed beyond belief or just have zero empathy for human beings outside of their own religion or race or social group. Sick.

People prefer not to think about the reality of death. For many people, death is a nicely sanitised thing with white sheets, preservatives, caskets and perfumes. They don't think about the other side of death, where people have to pick up bits of meat from the ground and try to work out whose body it might be.

Just came across this about how the media misled people into thinking that Noa was beaten by Hamas.

The following screenshots were taken from her Instagram account.

"Despite media reporting that she was beaten by Hamas, Argamani went to social media on Friday to say that her words had been taken out of context. She said she was not beaten and her hair was not cut.

"I said, I had cuts all over my head and I was hurt all over my body." Argamani emphasized that her wounds came from the collapse of a building after it was bombed by the IAF."

And no, I am not saying Hamas must be good if they didn't beat Noa, incase my words are taken out of context. Just sharing to highlight how media can mislead people.

Thanks for sharing, @anotherlevel

"As a victim of October 7, I will not allow myself to be victimized once again by the media."

What Noa and the other victims of October 7th went through is horrendous enough; it doesn't need to be misrepresented by people in the media or politicians for their own agendas, and doing so, I feel, is very disrespectful to the people who suffered most on that terrible day.

I appreciate Noa clarifying the statements that were deliberately taken out of context by the media, it's extremely brave. I can't imagine how using her story for propaganda is meant to help her mental health or the other hostages being held.

I saw prominent pro Israeli accounts amplifying the out of context video. It's like despite saying that they care about hostages they're willing to do anything regardless on how those actions impact innocent people.

A 10-month-old girl paralysed by polio in Gaza has become the first confirmed case of the deadly disease to be detected in the war-ravaged enclave in 25 years.

Shame on Israel for facilitating this.

Haaretz
Shin Bet Chief Warns PM and Ministers: Jewish Terror Is Jeopardizing Israel's Existence
'
The Jewish terror leaders want to make the system lose control, the damage to Israel is indescribable,' Ronen Bar warned in a letter. Police incompetence and public legitimacy led to the expansion of Jewish terrorism, he says

Jewish terrorism is endangering Israel's existence, warned Ronen Bar, the head of the Shin Bet security service.

Without the whole article, I am not sure if it means Smotrich and Ben-Givr?

stormy4319trevor · 23/08/2024 20:16

There must surely be a minimu of a pause to allow polio vaccinations. How terrible to see a resurgence of an illness so easily preventable by vaccination.

PeasfullPerson · 23/08/2024 22:21

There is more about it here @ScrollingLeaves

I haven’t seen the whole letter either, but I imagine he at least means both of them.

With specific reference to Ben-Gvir…..

The Shin Bet director also referred to the “spectacle” of Ben-Gvir’s visit last month to the compound of al-Aqsa mosque and Dome of the Rock, Islam’s holiest site in Jerusalem. The esplanade is also holy to Jews who know it as the Temple Mount, but the status quo for decades has been that while Jews could visit, only Muslims could pray there. During his 18 July visit, Ben-Gvir led prayers in front of the cameras and vowed to change the status quo permanently.’

More generally ……

‘The nationalist leadership, Bar concluded, was “willing to jeopardise the state’s security and its very existence” in the name of their ideology.’

AND

‘Bar warned the hilltop youth had gone “from evading the security forces to attacking the security forces, from cutting themselves off from the establishment to receiving legitimacy from certain officials in the establishment”.

Perhaps they should listen to him! Thank god in our own country, we now have a government that isn’t in danger of legitimising and weaponising such divisive hatred.

It’s appalling, it mostly impacts children and there is a way to prevent it.

Why no mention of this when discussing the cease fire, why at least no push for an immediate pause. Did the statisticians who worked out the possible indirect numbers of death factor Polio into their equations, or is this now going to be even worse?

More children are now going to suffer and die, and for what??

And some more from Haaretz here, making it clearer,

ISRAEL: Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar warned PM Netanyahu, ministers and the attorney general that Jewish terrorism in the West Bank is endangering Israel's existence, according to a letter published by Israel's Channel 12 News. In the letter, Bar wrote that Jewish terrorist leaders "want to cause the system to lose control, causing indescribable damage to Israel," adding that police incompetence in the face of these acts and "perhaps a sense of hidden support" for them are increasing considerably, reflected in "the significant expansion" of those taking part in these acts.

  • Bar noted that the perpetrators of Jewish terror have lost all fear of administrative detention "due to the conditions they get in prison and the funds they receive after their release from Knesset members as well as legitimacy and praise, alongside a delegitimization campaign against the defense officials." The letter also mentioned far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's recent visit to the Temple Mount, when hundreds of Jews prayed with him in violation of the status quo, adding that such acts could drag Israel "to profuse bloodshed and change the state's face unrecognizably."
  • After Ben-Gvir subsequently called to fire Bar, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant released a statement saying that "in the face of Minister Ben-Gvir's reckless actions that threaten Israel's national security and create internal division, the head of the Shin Bet and his people are performing their duty and warning against the serious consequences of these actions."

Haaretz again on this lawlessness

Channel 12 News reported that Israel's Shin Bet head Ronen Bar told Netanyahu there are essentially "no police in Israel" during a discussion on last week's deadly settler raid on the Palestinian town of Jit in the West Bank. Only two arrests have been made in the case.

Thank you. I wonder if by pre-emptively striking Hezbollah, Israel was worried the hostage release and ceasefire plans might be successful soon?

It looks like a worrying escalation, and a concerning repeat of Gaza, with the IDF telling citizens to leave the area where Hezbollah is operating.

IDF calls airstrikes inside Lebanon an 'act of self-defence'
Israeli Defence Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a statement early on Sunday: "‎‏In a self-defence act to remove these threats, the (Israeli military) is striking terror targets in Lebanon, from which Hezbollah was planning to launch their attacks on Israeli civilians.

"We can see that Hezbollah is preparing to launch an extensive attack on Israel, while endangering the Lebanese civilians," he added, without providing details.

"‎‏We warn the civilians located in the areas where Hezbollah is operating to move out of harm’s way immediately for their own safety."

The attacks last night? Israel attacked first didn't they? Or has the story changed? I haven't read about it since this morning.

Kindatired · 25/08/2024 21:50

@ConnieCounter Nope. BBC says clearly Isreal started it first. Pre-emptive apparently. Then 300 missiles fired back by Hezbollah. But, regardless of which side started firing first today, Israel hardly expected that attacking sites in Lebanon would not be interpreted as provocative. It seems we are seeing Netanyahu talking out of both sides of the mouth again- “We don’t want an all out war” and “We don’t want war but we can’t handle all these hostile Arab states long term unless we draw the US further in and better now while US support for Israel remains high”. Also , the Iron dome is very resource intensive even though it’s effective- costs about 10,000 usd per missile stopped so do the math- not sustainable.
