Apologies for the long title! There are so many awful things happening to the Palestinians in the West Bank, the Christians in Israel and others.

I thought there was already a thread detailing this but now can’t find it, apologies if I am missing it. Or it may have already been full.

ISRAEL: Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said Israel approved building five new illegal outposts in the West Bank in response to unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state by some countries, adding that "we will establish a new settlement" every time this happens. Smotrich said he believes "the war is going well," and that the most serious issue related to the war is the IDF's opposition to establishing a military government in Gaza.

In response, the U.K. Foreign Office stated that it "strongly opposes" the announcement, and called on Israel to "halt its illegal settlement expansion and hold to account those responsible for extremist settler violence," and for Israeli actions to weaken the Palestinian Authority to end.

That man Smotrich is loathsome, the lowest sort, and he is bringing Israel down to his level.

They are impressive and brave. It is so important to remember that there are Israelis like this, so committed to peace that they are risking their own lives.

The same is true for those Israeli activists who were guarding the aid trucks from settlers trying to stop them, or trying to destroy the aid.

One of biggest tragedies is how Palestinian Christians have been "forgotten" during this conflict by some people. Likely in order to frame the situation as a "religious war" between Islam and Judaism.

You haven’t actually posted anything that would make your title accurate. The IDF and Israeli police have many non Jewish Israelis who serve in them. Around 30% of Israeli citizens are not ethnically Jewish (a much higher percentage are not considered Jewish according to religious law). All Israeli citizens have equal rights in all respects and it is legally prohibited to discriminate due to religion or race. Non Jewish Israelis achieve well in Israel and sit in parliament and as judges, etc. they are actually slightly more likely to be in some key professions (such as medicine) than Jewish Israelis.

Israel has many faults but is the only democracy in the Middle East and by an enormous margin has the best human rights record in the region.

Sadly there is widespread discrimination in Palestinian society towards Christians and the percentage of christians in those territories has declined rapidly as many have left. Some have even been able to claim asylum in Israel (although most have gone overseas).

it’s a myth that Hamas is favourable towards christians. They are an Islamic fundamentalist group who have expressed the wish to massacre christians after the Jews. Same goes for Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the various other similar organizations in Gaza and the West Bank.

Those ignorant thugs’ behaviour is obscene. I take it they have no religion themselves, or else don’t understand it.

'Islamic' does not mean the same as 'Islamist'.

There is a huge difference between the two.
