I know there are lots of pictures. I try to avoid looking as its just so awful but this one couldn't be avoided.

How sickening that the soldiers can smile and act so happy in front of all that destruction.

This is just another picture, from the thousands, that shows how the Palestinians and their lives and homes are seen as worthless.

@OneMerryRedSnail you need a gold medal for the mental gymnastics you are doing there. By the way they are not little girls. Bit minimising to call them so.

@OneMerryRedSnail if it helps the photo has been used by various media outlets in their articles. Most of them say photo taken on the Gaza border.
For example:

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/brazil-president-lula-hitler-israel-gaza-war-2g5nsmj3h

Tje photographer says as well it’s border in their ig feed
hiwever , not sure it really matters where it was taken. You can clearly see these women are getting selfies proud of themselves with Gaza in the back

@OneMerryRedSnail

*What buildings?

I can't see any buildings.

Just a load a grey shapes.

How far from Gaza is this?*

I'll answer them for you.

The reason you can't see any buildings is because they've all been bombed. Bombed by the IDF. (Maybe not by the girls in the picture, but gleefully taking selfies with bombed buildings as a backdrop is distasteful to say the least). When buildings are bombed, they turn into rubble and the reason they are grey is from the dust from said rubble. They are on the borders of Gaza so not very far at all. Take a look at some of the articles posted by other posters.

but gleefully taking selfies with bombed buildings as a backdrop

I’m going to reserve judgement on their choice of backdrop until I have seen the actual photos the women took.

What backdrop do you think this picture has ? Probably it’s their face only or the buildings at the back. Should they be taking those pics In there ?

I have no idea. Among other things, it would depend on the angle of the camera. It might be blurred out of recognition or fully in focus. As you have said, it could be only their faces. What is the purpose of the photo? Is it just a group photo of comrades in arms or malicious gloating? We don’t know.

anotherlevel · 25/02/2024 20:54

Can we stop defending the indefensible please.

Well far be it from me to stop you guys from working yourselves up into a frenzy of Israeli hate but I don't think it helps anyone.

Well they look like they’re posing for a holiday snap so I’m guessing the purpose of the photo is a souvenir. You have to admit it’s in poor taste.

Criticism of Israel and their actions does not equal “Israel hate” The two are not mutually exclusive.

How old are you, 12?

Finding a photograph of anyone, of whatever allegiance, laughing whilst standing on the site of a slaughter of innocents repellent is not hate. It’s disgust. Rightly so.

The (deliberately) few photographs and films I have seen of the disgusting, barbaric assault on innocent people in their homes on 7th of October left me reeling in their hatred. I am an atheist with no sympathies either way. I find religion baffling and see all human beings as equals. The photograph OP posted leaves me feeling the same way. Each are truly awful and inhuman.

MCOut · 25/02/2024 21:48

@Bubblesoffun Nah peaceful and constructive is obviously condoning a far right government using overwhelming force on a poor civilian population.

showmethegin · 23/02/2024 23:13

Only if you think that her Israeli life is worth over 30,000 Palestinian ones

@showmethegin , all their lives are valuable. What is happening now in Gaza is horrific but don’t you think Hamas knew that would be the result of their actions? Of course they did, it was what they wanted. The Palestinian people are just cannon fodder to Hamas, they don’t care about them at all; they have managed to cause a massive worldwide rising of fury among Muslim people (and useful idiots) towards Israel. Hamas’s aim is the irradiation of Isreal and her people (from the river to the sea), Jews. Hamas have made it clear that they would repeat their vile attack again and again. Hamas wanted this. There may have been a time when a two state solution could have been possible but that time has passed. The only hope for the Palestinians is to live in democratic Israel where they will have a vote as Israeli citizens (no vote for them under Hamas). Netanyahu needs to go and some of the more extreme in the Israeli government need to follow.
I’m not impressed by propaganda, so easy to take a photo and suggest it means something other than it’s reality. That won’t make me forget the young people at a peace concert murdered in cold blood or the babies cooked in ovens.

RamblingAroundTheInternet · 25/02/2024 22:04

So young soldiers at war with an aggressor state (and make no mistake Gaza and it’s government is the aggressor state), risking their lives every minute of the day are not supposed to want to win the war with that aggressor state?

God knows what images we’d have had if SM was around in the 1st and 2nd world wars.

Have any of you actually been in the front line of a war? Do you think you could fight to keep yourself and your fellow soldiers alive with the reality that you could all die at any moment if you didn’t believe that you were doing what was right (we may not agree but the soldiers on the ground have to believe it).

Are they supposed to fight and then cry and be depressed then continue the cycle over and over again? Morale is imperative to staying alive!

The casualty figures (which have never been independently verified) are down to the Gazan government’s desire to start a war and use it’s citizens as human shields. That is a fact.

Absolutely pathetic faux outrage on here. The photo was not posted publicly by the soldiers but by someone else whose agenda was obvious.

Anyone who thinks this picture is in any way comparable to the images recorded by the Gazans themselves of the atrocities they committed on Israelis on Oct 7th must be either severely intellectually challenged or just as sick in the head as them to be quite frank.

Nice to see that those that are not happy with what Israel has been doing for 75 years you regard them as useful Idiots and that you want Palestine to disappear 🤔 isn’t that genocide ??

I won’t reply to most of the nonsense that you’ve posted but this is the agenda of the person that posted the picture and the company he works for

The Associated Press (AP)[4] is an American not-for-profit news agency headquartered in New York City. Founded in 1846, it operates as a cooperative, unincorporated association, and produces news reports that are distributed to its members, major U.S. daily newspapers and radio and television broadcasters”

@EasterIssland , where is Palestine?
The state of Israel is not without fault, it is indeed a most complex conundrum.

Win the war against what they view as the aggressor state, yes, of course. To seemingly revel in the slaughter of innocents, no.

That is what Hamas did. They were, rightly, universally condemned.

It’s the area where the people that you’re referring to in your previous post by saying that they should live under Israel and they’d be able to vote live. If unsure where it’s located probably google has got maps

@MrsSkylerWhite , I see a photo of soldiers. What possible evidence do you have that those soldiers are revelling in the slaughter of innocents? Honestly the apparent hideous and cynical propaganda in that comment sickens me.

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/02/2024 22:21

They are laughing whilst standing atop ruined homes with no doubt whatsoever bodies of innocents still buried beneath. .
