@queenofarles it's an opinion piece in a national newspaper. I am sure you have the right to complain about the 'interesting' article.
But op is allowed to make a thread about it and deserves the right to not have it policed.

differentfeather · 23/12/2023 21:52

@stomachameleon with due respect you are also policing the previous poster by implying they are not welcome in commenting freely on an article that was posted in an open manner inviting comments.

stomachameleon · 23/12/2023 22:06

@differentfeather everyone is welcome to comment you know that?

differentfeather · 23/12/2023 22:09

@stomachameleon thank you for confirming this. In this case I welcome @queenofarles opinions on this thread as well as yours, as I hope you do too?

stomachameleon · 23/12/2023 22:24

@differentfeather sorry if my comment was not clear.
I thought it was rather self explanatory. No policing other way should be ok. All welcome. I am glad @floodlightonwhatisright is allowed to carry on with their thread.

Scirocco · 23/12/2023 23:13

Just a few posts ago, the advice being given was "don't like the sentiment of it then don't respond". Glad to see that position's changed.

queenofarles · 23/12/2023 21:04

just because I posed a link to a newspaper apparently makes me Islamaphobic!
You couldn't make it up.

Many were called anti semitic and Hamas sympathisers on other threads for posting links to newspapers too.

you knew and we all knew the meaning behind that "interesting" article.
if a handful out of hundreds of thousands showed up with horrible anti semitic slogans , it’s terrible and unfair to label the whole protest as violent and hate inciting , as the article stated "idiots enjoying a jolly day out".

Oh give it a rest will you.

Stop telling me what "I knew" and what you "all"knew the meaning was. No clue what you are on about tbh.
It was somebody's opinion and you still going on and on about how Islamaphobic I am.
If I had a pound for all the links Pro - Palestinians posters made to articles and other media that have arguably anti-semitic ideas on the 400 odd Pro Palestinian threads on the conflict board, I would be a trillionaire.

But hey, pile on to this. On and On and On.

@stomachameleon your meaning was perfectly clear. You felt quite rightly that I was being bullied off my thread but of course comments are welcome - but not bullying ones. There's a right way to comment.

Skyisthelimit7 · 24/12/2023 00:09

@floodlightonwhatisright I think you are quite right. Yes - the article has strong views but it was an interesting article which is what you said. You absolutely did not say anything or do anything Islamophobic by linking to it.
If posters have a problem with the content - they should complain to the paper or writer.

It's not as if you wrote it or endorsed it!

What could happen on the marches to make Jews less anxious about them?

No more 'from the river to the sea'
No more of that bloody 'globalise the intifada'
No attacking people carrying banners critical of Hamas (and more banners critical of Hamas)
No intimidating people going into shops
No shaming people coming out of McDonalds
No Nazi or holocaust comparisons
No people dressed in Hamas uniforms
No claiming Hamas are a 'resistance' organisation
No ripping down of hostage posters
No claiming 'there were some Jews there so it must be fine'

I see they were out again today intimidating people who wanted to go into shops.

Some definitely behave like thugs.

stomachameleon · 24/12/2023 09:08

Including 'sisters uncut'
'Taking direct action for domestic violence services' and whose last two articles included ' aren't Palestinian women too?' Had literally nothing to say about the sexual violence meted out women on 7/10.

So loads to say.... providing your not Jewish.
The super left wing at its best.

Shops forced to close, denying people their rights and joyful experience at Christmas

I’m not sure thats such a terrible crime really. They stopped people shopping? They must of been pretty well behaved if that’s the worst the papers can say 😆

And out of those hundreds and thousands marching for peace none called out the handful with non- peaceful anti-Semitic slogans and were happy to march along side them.
Turning a blind eye is as good as allowing that to happen.

Edited

But why should the peaceful marchers not be allowed to march because a vile faction have joined in? That’s not freedom. The peaceful ones have as much right to march as the disgusting ones.

And I would not dare confront an aggressive antisemitic group of marchers. Would not mean I agree with them in the slightest.

I had no idea this happened yesterday. My child was working on carnaby st all day yesterday and was oblivious. Glad he was safe.

not sure how you can say this with a straight face? We’ve been told posters have been keeping ‘files’ of the posts of others, taking screenshots and reporting posters to the CST, getting Mumsnet to delete threads, falsely accusing pro Palestinian posters of antisemitism, ganging up on pro Palestinian posters and bullying them off threads, getting their accounts banned. The facts that you’re now complaining about thought policing is beyond laughable.

queenofarles · 24/12/2023 09:52

Never in Modern history has an ethnic group / believers in a cause been subjected to such scrutiny for trying to express their own basic right of simply condemning a Genocide.
No matter how well behaved the majority are ,
everything about them disgusts some people.

differentfeather · 24/12/2023 09:53

@Desertrose2023 well said.

And I would not dare confront an aggressive antisemitic group of marchers.

And it is surely therefore understandable that these marches, which people are now agreeing contain both aggressive and antisemitic elements, might be intimidating to Jews,

stomachameleon · 24/12/2023 10:12

@Desertrose2023 for Everyone of the things you have listed I have seen and witnessed the same so I am amused that you can say those things and then accuse me....or my 'ilk'
I don't have the power to get accounts banned. I am not that important. Perhaps you need to discuss that with Mumsnet?

Quite. That along with the reference to the hugely offensive chant of “stop bombing children”.

my favourite part of that article:
**
No arrests were made during the protest, police confirmed. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “The protest was a pre-planned event by Sisters Uncut.”

clearly the thuggery was just out of control.

I haven’t referred to anyone’s “ilk”

back to your usual tactics I see.
