Someone with some courage actually spoke up. I’ve seen this behavior all over Mumsnet for the past 2 months.

https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2023/12/29/steinberg-weaponizing-antisemitism/

Defending the woman who thinks calling for the genocide of the Jewish people could be okay "depending in context". Lovely.

What precisely is it about a march against anti-Semitism that makes you feel unsafe? What do you think might happen to you?

Especially because the speakers spoke about Islamophobia too. Eddie Marsan did a brilliant speech I posted on a different thread about antisemitism and Islamophobia. There were no racist or hateful signs on the march either. Not even many flags if you watch videos of the anti racism that it clearly was from start to finish

I think some people have not watched videos of it or heard the speeches etc. They are just making up what they think the march was about by looking a a few photos. Seriously nice friendly event that even made sure Tommy Robinson was arrested for turning up. I mean everyone should applaud that.

@Thereissomelight it really doesn't mean that. You might want to look into it.

Oh have you been watching me then

I mean I already have 3 stalkers now, so you will have company I am afraid but the more the merrier.

I refer to myself as Truly Wonderful because I am Truly Wonderful apparently. I had a very big fan club during covid because I got a lot of threads removed/users banned because they were posting conspiracy theories and other iffy stuff that was really scary for some posters back then. Anyway people appreciated it and would say I was Truly Wonderful. I have not been well recently but on days when I feel well I am force to be to be avoided in a mumsnet debate.

Plus I am a barking mad hippie Jewish woman that has a lot of self love

I’ve just read the article and it doesn’t say anything like this at all?

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 22:57

She said that when questioned by Congress I believe.

Trulywonderful · 30/12/2023 22:59

Not fair if people edit their posts whilst I am writing a reply

The poster asked amongst other stuff why I call myself Truly Wonderful in the first person

They said they had seen me do this before

Plus I say I am hurting from all the Jew hate and what do they reply 'Good luck with that'. Talk about lack of empathy!

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 23:02

I am just confused/ bewildered/ perturbed (pick Mumsnet approved word) why on some threads it's ok to just be an Israel bad/ Palestine good echo chamber but the odd threads where Jewish people are prevalent it is perfectly acceptable to bombard/ bully/ harass/ harangue unheeded?

Why do you feel the need to do that? Stifle debate? Derail?

Thereissomelight · 30/12/2023 23:04

@stomachameleon
Ah ok. I hadn’t seen that.

Well a very quick précis of that 2022 book confirms the obvious fact that different Jews hold different opinions. Some I would probably get on perfectly well with and others I would dislike intensely. Just the same as with any other humans really.

And imo the Jews who were horrified at Netanyahu and his cronies getting into government were absolutely right to be so. Good people horrified at bad people taking power.

Thereissomelight · 30/12/2023 23:05

“Bad” meaning violent, extremist, racist, incompetent, land-stealing, murderous.

Trulywonderful · 30/12/2023 23:07

Definitely get that one to do their own research. However they will learn something as they do it.

I don't mind helping some people understand terms or what is antisemitism but they have to be up to listening and trying to think about what they are told. Better with some people to let them do some reading and they might just accidentally educate themselves as they research

for the avoidance of doubt, and to end this truly truly painful exchange, my “good luck with that” was aimed at the below statement you made. Not in reference to you hurting.
and on that note I wish you a good evening.

My narrative of asking posters questions about out their posts mean. Then if they don't answer the questions having to just analyse the posts they make and coming to a conclusion based on the evidence of what they are posting. Yes you are right I do that. Have been doing that for years on here, pretty much seen all kinds of posters. Therefore I am very good at working out what most are users are about and what makes them tick. I am Truly Wonderful after all.

I'm so sorry you're hurting @Trulywonderful And I can assure you I certainly do not hate you/the collective 'you.' And neither does anyone I know.

Look after yourself. Flowers

You never realised before that different Jewish people hold different opinions 😳What did you think we all had one mind

Also you still have literally no idea about the good jew /bad Jew thing. Which is what you are doing amazingly badly at the moment. I actually almost feel sorry for you.

OK maybe I don't feel that bad for you actually. However you really need to go do some research and work out what the issue is here

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 23:15

@Thereissomelight go back and read the last couple of answers on the AMA I think you might find them helpful.

There are people I don't like. I just don't compartmentalise them by their religion. We can all be appalled at the loss of human life. We all should be. We can show empathy to people terrified after being attacked. I don't see how that's not a given. Most of us won't know what it is to be truly frightened for our children's lives. The one common ground we should be focused on.

I just think on here lots of people are quick to see black/ white and only westernised views.

We should remember there people who have lost friends.
Who are grieving family.

Sometimes it feels like a game on here and it sickens me.

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 23:17

Not to put the boot in metaphorically @Desertrose2023 it did come across like that.

Thereissomelight · 30/12/2023 23:18

I don’t compartmentalise people due to their religion. I think you need to read my post again. I compartmentalise people due to their views and their behaviour.

Bear in mind too that there are posters here who have relatives in Gaza right now. I think we’re all aware that people are hurting.

Trulywonderful · 30/12/2023 23:18

@FreshWinterMorning

Two Jews - three opinions.

stomachameleon · 30/12/2023 23:27

@Thereissomelight not once in my post did I say I was just talking about people in Israel. I have enough empathy to feel for Both sides of the divide.

Thank but I always personally post with the fact people have personally connections to the conflict plus people have different religious beliefs.

Personally I am not religious and most the other Jewish people I know are not religious. Therefore I am a little confused by your post here. Not sure you understand what Jewish people are etc

Secondly I did read your other post very carefully. It was the fact you said you checked if Jewish people had different opinions, even those you said it was obvious. Why did you check? Then you went on to talk about the type of Jewish person you may get on with???? Literally what the heck plus you obvious don't know any Jewish people in real life. However are making massive sweeping statements. If is a bit offensive to be honest but mostly massively odd. Sorry but I find your posts odd and you obviously don't understand most of what you say about Jewish people and definitely don't know enough about the good/bad Jew type antisemitism etc

An activist involved in the Armistice Day pro-Palestine march has said that the taking of hostages was a “very important part” of any “act of resistance” and that Israel was “mimicking” Nazis.

Anas Altikriti also criticised the designation of Hamas as a terrorist group and said reports that the group had perpetrated rape on October 7 were a “lie”.
